Tkal
I like the idea of a wall as something where you can stick a note, or paint a graffiti. But it is also something I want to climb, to see what is there on the other side...Anyway, after one month in the Rebellion, it is time to start my daily log!Today was a semi-rest day: new morning routine: I am trying to move some training in the morning instead of evening... but for now it is just a 10 minutes warm-up+stretching, just to get use to move as first thing when I woke up. I made it my equivalent for the "walk one mile" challengeSunday walk, kept short (1hour instead of the usual 3) because of heavy rain10 minutes yoga, to get relaxed before bedFood-wise I had a "emotional break down" and ended up stopping for a durum doner during my walk. My stomach is still processing it, so overall not too many calories today, but still too much bread and carbs and spices. Good thing that during work days I have a more rigid schedule that keeps me safe from bad food. Tkal
6.XI.12 (tue)What did I do today? It was one of those day when getting up is a task so big you barely can do anything else the entire day. Just work and study. 7.XI.12 (wed)Better today, did the planed exercise morning routine GMB ring workout (done before bed time): rows 9 - 8 -1 pull ups 7 - 7 - 2 chin ups 6 - 9 - 3 inverted hang 2 - 9 - 1 grinds 9 - 6 - 2 cool down / stretching[*]Food: an other high carb day: stew (beef, onions and carrots), green salads, rice. Anyway, according to fitday.com I have eaten only 68g of carbs, so overall not bad Quote Tkal, level 8 Dwarf assassin playing with the monksSTR 13.5 | DEX 19.25 | STA 16 | CON 18.75 | WIS 18 | CHA 14.5My walls (aka: random log) | Intro | Challenge 1 with tracker | Aborted Challenge 2 | "Real" challenge 2 | Challenge 3Challenge 4 | (never started)Challenge 5 | (super short) Challenge 5 | (third is a charm) Challenge 5 | Challenge 6Challenge 7 | Challenge 8 "Patience you must learn" Link to comment
Tkal
8.x.12 (thu)Busy day at work, plus did first part of Dutch exam. Passed, but really with the minimum :-( OK, more room for improvement!Exercise: morning and evening routine. I am still struggling a lot in the morning, it is really hard to get up even 15 minutes earlier!Food: turkey (breast, grilled), peas (from frozen, steamed) and red cabbage (stir-fried) at lunch, chicken and spinach at dinner. Mixed nuts and a glass of buttermilk during the day. According to fitday I hit only 1350 cals, which is a bit too low... But I could not eat more! Tkal
9.X.12 (fri)basically same as yesterday. At the end of the day I was too tired to do my long routine, so I just went for a walk Food: lunch with stew (peppers and carrots included), dinner with herrings and salad. I threw in an apple and a few nuts in the morning and a glass of buttermilk after my walk. Total calories: 1728. The snaking put me out of my plan...10.X.12 (sat)I skipped the morning routine, since I did my long GMB routine as first thing in the morning. Overall a good session. I must really move my training to the morning also during the weekThen I walked to the market, filled my backpack with colorful veggies, fresh fish and eggs I came home with a detour to the tourist office. Over all not a long walk....Food: I could not resist the fresh Flemish fries at the market. Next time I know that I must eat plenty before going there, having my IF day on Saturday when I do my grocery shopping is not smart... Dinner with herrings and the usual salad. Caloric intake of the day: 1304 In 2 days the new challenge will start. The two main goals are being consistent and track better. Targets are set, spreadsheets for the tracking are ready, and I am eager to start Quote Tkal, level 8 Dwarf assassin playing with the monksSTR 13.5 | DEX 19.25 | STA 16 | CON 18.75 | WIS 18 | CHA 14.5My walls (aka: random log) | Intro | Challenge 1 with tracker | Aborted Challenge 2 | "Real" challenge 2 | Challenge 3Challenge 4 | (never started)Challenge 5 | (super short) Challenge 5 | (third is a charm) Challenge 5 | Challenge 6Challenge 7 | Challenge 8 "Patience you must learn" Link to comment
Tkal
one year after. Here we do not look at the past. I'm starting out again, that is the important. And in few days the new challenge begin. Time to work on my battle plan and get to the end of it this time Quote Tkal, level 8 Dwarf assassin playing with the monksSTR 13.5 | DEX 19.25 | STA 16 | CON 18.75 | WIS 18 | CHA 14.5My walls (aka: random log) | Intro | Challenge 1 with tracker | Aborted Challenge 2 | "Real" challenge 2 | Challenge 3Challenge 4 | (never started)Challenge 5 | (super short) Challenge 5 | (third is a charm) Challenge 5 | Challenge 6Challenge 7 | Challenge 8 "Patience you must learn" Link to comment
Tkal
Copy and paste from my 5.3 challenge, so I have at hand my long term goalsThese are all sort-of-long term life-quest plans that need to be better elaborated:get new documents. After surgeries I can apply for new birth certificate, then all the rest. Not sure what to do with my driving license with respect to the issuing country (I can choose between where I am now and where I got it). To be checked with local lawyer. Also, change wedding certificate and all legal papers in country of origin and herebuy a house/apartmentdriving license for motorbike + buy the motorbikebe the cool uncle to my only nephewPlace I want to visit (all the places outside Europe only after I have new passport):Norway (hike in the fiords + Lofoten + Svalbard). I should plan 2 trips to see the midnight sun and the auroraIceland (see the geysers)New ZealandTierra del fuegoBerlin, Prague, Oslo, Stockholm, London, Paris, Madrid, Vienna (all these can be weekend trips)JapanSome places in USA: New York, Chicago, Vancouver Grand Canyon, mount Rushmore, Yellowstone parkvisit family in Israelvisit family in Californiavisit family in Australia (maybe)Human languages: improve Dutch. Spanish should be easy to pick up again. Hebrew then would be nice from a cultural perspective. To be practical Arabic or Mandarin are spoken by half of my colleagues... Esperanto, completely not-practical but I like the culture behind itOther "languages": python, Haskell, Scala, ruby. Refurbish C++ (and Java?)Other stuff: refurbish maths skills (differential equations, linear algebra, topology) and quantum mechanics. Nothing practical, just for the fun of it, as alternative the crosswords and suchFitness stuffget in contact with some decent Shito Ryu sensei, and refurbish the stylecontinue with the Shuri-ryu practice, at least up to 3rd dan (equivalent to my last Shito-ryu grade), possibly 4thpick up GMB skills, complete F1, P1 and R1 (without stopping half way as done so far)restart aikido (there is a 5th dan student of Christian Tissier in the area, other school could be investigated, but I could be too challenging for someone inexperienced)restart climbing/boulderingMost of the above is achievable in the coming 3-5 years. Much of the traveling depends on my wife and our families, I am not sure what can be plan and what stays a dream. Languages are cool, but the learning is painful. Again, not sure about what is dream and what is a plan to which I can commit. And from here my level 50:I have no children and I won't have any, so my changes for a connection with a younger generation are slim. My family lives far from here, and I am not sure I am going back ever. Wife is much older than me, and there is a good chance that she will die ten years before me.The plan is to be able to manage an independent life as long as possible. Which translate in taking care of my health on the long term, cure my lifestyle, what I eat, how I move, how I think, my involvement where I live... All this must become an habit in coming few years. Tkal
Achievements in the past years:surgeries done (an very limited physical activities for 6 months due to not easy recovery). In waiting list for changing birth certificateC++ has become decent enough, if not yet fluid. Starting injecting pythonAccording to duolinguo, 47% fluency in Spanish. Dutch has not become worse (at least that). Basic knowledge of Esperanto Quote Tkal, level 8 Dwarf assassin playing with the monksSTR 13.5 | DEX 19.25 | STA 16 | CON 18.75 | WIS 18 | CHA 14.5My walls (aka: random log) | Intro | Challenge 1 with tracker | Aborted Challenge 2 | "Real" challenge 2 | Challenge 3Challenge 4 | (never started)Challenge 5 | (super short) Challenge 5 | (third is a charm) Challenge 5 | Challenge 6Challenge 7 | Challenge 8 "Patience you must learn" Link to comment
