#4: Feet of clay

The sky was grey and the air was sharp that morning, winter was almost here and, surprisingly, Nuala was still here to see its arrival. When she registered as an assassin a few month ago, she was almost expecting to be erased quickly, but she was here, walking in the cold air, her arms sore from the previous day's mansion climbing and satisfied by her progresses.

Something moving near a building caught her eye, reaching her favourite weapon discreetly, Nuala kept on walking like if nothing was abnormal, still, her body was tense, ready to strike. She started to relax when the shadow revealed itself to be a mere pigeon. Well, maybe not a "mere" one, on its leg Nuala could notice a message and the discreet crest of the guild. Retrieving the message, she was puzzled and relieved, a pigeon? No arrows breaking windows or pots? That was a really good sign.

Greeting assassin,

despite your previous fail, you did well recently and are now out of your trial. But your journey is not over yet. Now, you that you have realised your weaknesses, it's time to take care of them like an assassin. Make them disappear silently and swiftly.

Failure is not permitted.

Silently and swiftly... Those weakness will never know what will happen to them.

Here comes the new challenger \o/, err I mean challenge. This time I want to focus on my weaknesses, let's face it, the previous challenge and especially the 10 minutes squat helped me realised that my weakness is my legs. I always thought that my legs were strong, how wrong I was... My legs are a mess, I barely do some workout for them. That need to change. My flexibility, even if it's getting a little better, is still not good enough and I'm not really balanced either, even if it's been a while since last I fall on my ass trying to tie my shoes... And procrastination, like always. So, here we go!

Fitness goal #1: Strength

Dear legs, I don't like your workout, but I'll have to deal with it and make you cry. You can't be as much sorry that I am. Sincerely, me.

My arms are pretty strong now, with all the push-ups and pull-up and everything but my legs are weak. Especially my left leg and that's what blocks me of solving more difficult problems when bouldering. So, lunge + squats + mobility + (don't scream) a little machine training at the gym (I told you not to scream!)

Why the machine use, well, considering how weak are my legs I think a little re-education won't hurt and also a way to check my progresses with the weights.

Legs workout 3 times a week minimum. [sTR +4]

Fitness goal #2: Flexibility

In addition to my previous challenge torture, I mean split training. I will work on some yoga poses and hopefully, master them. My choice of pose are:

Pictures before/after are required. I need to remember from where I start or else I won't believe I progressed. I have that problem with the toe touch, I know that I could only touch my knee before, but I don't believe it ^^'

[+1STR +3 CON] or [+4 CON]

Fitness goal #3: Balance

Handstand. I used to be able to do it, now I'm scared to try it. The progression how I see it is:

  • Headstand
  • Crow pose
  • Wall support handstand
  • Free handstand

For now I can do a headstand and not for a long time.

[+1 STR +3 DEX] or [+4 DEX]

Life goal: Finish what you started!

I try to learn or do a lot of things but I always forget about them one day. Now I have a pile of unfinished projects that I need to complete

- Complete one crochet project

- Finish writing Milythael and Kibcy's cookbooks

- Finish setting up my mini-aquarium. I wanted to put some shrimps inside, for now I only have unwanted snails.

- Finish scanning/ sorting all my papers. I started long ago and I still have a full box of paper I need to throw away...

- Learn Finnish. I can't do this one if I keep on procrastinating

- Sort holiday pictures, I started travelling a lot 8 years ago, nothing is sorted.

Sounds like you have some solid goals there :D

Good luck with all you goals ! :D

I'll see at home the yoga poses you choose, it seems really interesting ! I can say that I have the same issue with starting things and not finishing them... :/ I'm sure your goal will give me some inspiration to deal with my own issues ! :)

Considering my flexibility, mastery would be being able to do a recognisable pose :P Anyway, I won't rate myself on perfect form of course, but on the number of practice, the work done on perfecting the pose, the time I can spend on the pose and stuff like that. It's still not really precise in my head, I need to work on the pose a little to see what will be the best.

Yay, Nuala! Good to see you back!

Don't forget to do some butt specific exercises on your leg day! I made the mistake of thinking that I was working mine when I wasn't and I've paid the price with a lower back injury and some stalled progress on a couple of exercise progressions!

Do you have some proposition for them, because I know none :[

Oh, and if you're trying to strengthen your legs, why not do some squats? They're awesome! :)

I.. don't like squats really much.. I'll do them but I don't like them... :(

Haha, maybe it would feel relaxing if I wasn't trying to keep my balance at all time! :D The half moon pose will kill me, I can't even do it on my left (weak) leg. Then again, it's an intermediate pose where all the other poses are for beginner.

I'm scared to see what advanced poses are ^^'
