PitBull_Liz
Thank you all! I'm calling today a major success and would give myself extra credit if I could. Did my 30 minute walk directly after work (I'm making myself exercise before I'm allowed to even sit down, let alone hop on the computer) with the pupper dog and it was lovely and crisp with the very random snow flurry. Then I faltered. I needed dinner but didn't feel like cooking. What did I have in the house that I could just go with??? NOTHING! Oh crap, one of the drawbacks of primal eating is there's just not as much grab and go food as there used to be. So then I think, "I'll just go pick up a pizza from Little Caesar's. It'll ONLY be $5 and I'll ONLY have a couple full slices then I'll just eat toppings and I'm ALLOWED to splurge once per week dammit." I was so close to hopping up and putting shoes on and going. And then I thought, "but wait. I'm keeping a log on Nerd Fitness. I'm not going to LIE about this, but I'd be mortified to cave on two goals on the 2nd day of the challenge. I'd be eating non-Primally for something that doesn't blow my mind, and wasting money. What would they think of me???" Happienumber
I actually have a hoop that my hooping instructor made for me, but I can't use it yet. Too light still! I need that little bit of weight to help me out, LOL. But speaking of mashed intestines, did you ever use one of those truly weighted ones with the waves on the inside? HOLY CRIPES those hurt! Somebody gave me one for free when I started hooping. Used it for about 10 seconds and haven't picked it up since, LOL.You have a hooping instructor?! that's so neat! I never knew there were so many different types of hoops. What kind of waves go inside? like water? LOL I've only had one private session with her but I've done a couple of her group hoop sessions - they're outdoors in a park which is intimidating when you're not a very good hooper *waves hand* and you're surrounded by these amazing hoopers. But it's a really supportive group of people. And the actual hoop has like physical waves on the inside so it's supposed to "massage" you as you hoop. Yeah, it HURTS.Hula hoop instructor ? I don't think it's her full-time job but she runs hoop classes, dance classes and private training. And for next, make sure there's some grab and go primal food around Yeah, this is the hard part of primal for me. I'm so accustomed to "grab and go" food being donuts, chips, cereal (god I miss a nice big bowl of cereal), frozen pizza, etc. Nothing primal really fulfills those flavor/texture needs. I need to buy some apples and more almond butter and that would be a good substitute. Pretty high in carbs, but at least it's the good carbs.Yeah, this is why I love NerdFitness. Hope everybody has a splendid day!SO PROUD of you!!!! Grab and go primal/paleo food is definitely more tough then before eating this way. I usually keep some apples, some homemade jerky, and multiple types of nuts in the house and in the various cars to snack on. (Almonds and pecans mostly. Occasionally if I want to treat myself, I have a few pistachios) They fill you up quick and you only need a small handful. Eat that and then give your body time to react. I've also made some kale chips. While no replacement for chips (that was my big vice prior to going straight paleo) they definitely help kill the "no grab and go" snack. Elastigirl
What works best for me to have around as grab and go food is meat and gaucamole. Check the ingredients list for gauc, make sure they are Paleo. But if I have some cooked ground meat or cup up chicken then I can just dunk in the gaucamole. Very satisfying. Nuts are nice too, but can add weight if you aren't careful. I take a small handful and put them in a bowl for a snack. PitBull_Liz
Another good day! Did my Rebel workout and took the dog for a 2 mile walk. A friend took me to dinner (CiCi's Pizza - it's a pizza buffet) and I stayed primal except for salad dressing, which quite frankly, I'm not counting as a cheat. I ate two huge plates of salad and then the toppings (cheese and pepperoni) off 2 slices of pizza. And NONE of their cinnamon rolls which I used to do damage on. I have to admit I felt very self-righteous, which isn't good. But it IS good to be proud of myself for abstaining. Waldo
Edited to add that I took my pics today. Frightening. Until I looked back at the "before" pics I'd taken in March. Holy crap. I actually gasped when I looked at those. These weren't pretty, those were TERRIFYING. So it's nice to see I've already made some progress. Can't wait to take more pics in 6 weeks!Nice. It is important to take progress pics. They mean so much more than the number on the scale or what the tape measure says. It isn't just a number, pics make your results seem so much more real and tangible. You can't have amazing after pictures unless you also have before pictures. Always been one of my biggest regrets. For how good I've been at taking progress pics this year, I didn't take my first progress pic until I had already lost 40 lbs.
