Snohomie Posted December 11, 2013 Report Share Posted December 11, 2013 I am surprised this thread isn't more active since we're in bulking season. How are our bulkers doing?I am at 168 right now. I actually broke 170 a couple of times about a week ago but since then I haven't been as good at hitting my 3100 calories. Protein intake has been consistently at or above my 160g goal.Somehow, even though my weight has dropped and I have done a lot of lifting (5x a week) I took 48 hours off and I just look flabby today. Telling myself it is water weight... just finished my final so I am headed to the gym momentarily.Hardest part is fighting through injuries. Back issue a few weeks ago and a minor shoulder impingement last week haven't helped.For the eating aspect, does anyone believe in timing their nutrients? I have noticed that I do most of my protein early and my carbs later in the day (I work out first thing in the am). Not that I exclude carbs early or anything, just the way it is working out so far. I'm not sure what my new gym is going to be like or what I'll be able to do there so I've started eating at maintenance during this forced two week layoff. I did put on some good muscle though so I'm hoping that some BW stuff keeps most of the muscle on me. Waldo Posted December 12, 2013 Report Share Posted December 12, 2013 I'm taking about a 2-2.5 week bulking hiatus to cut like a madman. With tomorrow's measurement check (day 14 of the cut), I should be hitting the waist #'s I was at when I started bulking late Aug, about 7 lbs heavier than I was when I started. I'm hoping to end this little cut with waist measurements 1/4" lower than they were when I started bulking. Going to maintain through Christmas, since exercise will be spotty at best (traveling), then start bulking again as soon as I return home. Overall I went from 186 to 197, now back down to 193. Zorch Posted December 12, 2013 Report Share Posted December 12, 2013 Adding weight has been slower than expected, though the holidays as well as the presence of an excellent cook/baker in my life have been helping a bit. Lifts are definitely progressing - I'm at PR levels in both Deadlifts and Bench Press now with no signs of stalling. At 187ish now - I'm planning on going up to the low 190's into early next year hopefully, before trying to lean out a bit. Still dreaming of hitting Deadlift >400 lbs and 5k < 20 minutes early next year. It's definitely attainable - if grad school plus work doesn't end up grinding my fitness to dust.
