#5 Robot assassin awaiting orders

Greetings assassin,

your performances during the previous weeks were barely above average, at least, you proved yourself useful during our little "cleaning" mission. This time, we will ask you to work more with your fellow guild members. Every week, you will receive a mission from one of them, you'll have to make sure you succeed in every one of them. Other than that, you'll be in stand-by for now. You're getting closer from your annual technical revision your duty is to make sure your body is good enough to pass it without troubles.

 

 

Right, the annual test. Nuala supposed that she could pass it without too much troubles, she did improved a lot after all! But would another "barely above average" be enough for the guild? The 40% risk was not worth it. A quick hardware check indicated 2 possibles way of improving: a more rich fuel consumption and also putting some anti-rust paint here and there. It was some basic maintenance functions but it may get her closer to be fully functional.

 

For the guild.

 

 

Goal #1:

Your choice! As a robot assassin I will take any orders and do my best to fulfil them. For variety reason, I will chose one new order every week. If you want to do a PVP, I'll be your robot! So, who will give me my first order? :D

 

Goal#2:

Clean and hydrate my face twice a day. I'm almost 35 and still have an awful teenager skin, it's dry and greasy in the same time and even if I have no wrinkles yet I may have to remember that they may appears one day or another. Twice a day will be tricky because I have very little time in the morning (breakfast for 2 + 2 lunchboxes to prepare in less than 20 minutes, graaah) but I'll have to find the time. Definitely!

 

Goal#3:

Violin. I need to be more constant in my training. I skip way too many days. I don't ask myself much: 10 minutes minimum per day.

 

Life Goal:

Supplement experiment. I'm not in a good health, I feel tired all the time, sometimes dizzy, always anxious, prone to insomnia but thanks to Paleo, I don't have daily nightmares anymore \o/. Frankly, my diet is not so bad already but I want to try taking some vitamin and supplement for a while to make sure that I'm not missing anything.

Also, I should really stop avoiding going to see the doctors. I need to go to the dentist, I need to see my gynaecologist, I'm not a kid any more godamnit!

 

This time, I have set up a spreadsheet to mark what's done or not, no cheating allowed <_<

Huh, you're the second assassin I've seen with a violin goal - that's awesome. And wow, putting your first goal in our hands - that's trust! An option for week 1 - spend 10 minutes a day balancing. Up to you if it's a handstand, crow pose, or standing on one foot.

 

Looking forward to seeing where this challenge takes you!

N!  Happy New Year!  Very interesting goals, I like them.  I look forward to seeing how they go, especially Goal #1.  As far as supplements go, have you looked into ZMA?  It feels as though it gives me more quality sleep without any sort of drowsiness at all.

Nuala, I'm along for the ride if you'll have me.  Have you tried Melatonin for your sleeping problems?  A previous girlfriend swore by it.  There was always a noticable difference in her quality of sleep when she forgot it on a trip or didn't take it for a while.

 

What are your big goals for the near future?  I'd love to toss in some challenge ideas.

You hate me right? Stretching is my weak point :P But of course, I won't step down from a stretching PVP, do you have something precise in mind?

You all followed me during the previous challenge, it's only fait that this time I'm the one to follow you! And 10 minutes of balance seems like a plan. Maybe for second week!

That's not true of course and It doesn't arrive that often but it's quite annoying. Computer or playing just before bed is not helping of course. Still, that's something I may be able to fight without any supplements :)

 

And my goal.. well for now everything is about climbing. :) I go to my bouldering center 3 times a week. But really, you can propose a challenge that you like, I'm new to fitness after all, and there's a lot that I don't know, so discovering new stuff is really nice!

I don't know if this will help, being as my anxiety is mostly over "OMG I have six thousand and twelve things I need to do", but have you tried writing down a list of the things your worried about before bed? It's helped me a lot. I can easily roll around for two or three hours trying to fall asleep, just fretting over a bunch of stuff, but if I just get up, write it down for "looking into tomorrow", I can go to sleep. Just a thought.

It's "nice" to know I'm not the only one with anxiety-induced insomnia around here! Mine comes and goes; recently I've been doing OK. I've never found a magic bullet to cure it, but yoga and/or some focused meditation has always helped a bit. Trying to empty your mind for 5 minutes (although I'm never 100% or even 60% successful) seems to start to train your brain away from the anxiety hamster-wheel.

Not sure for your Goal #1... maybe eh... keep doing those bulgarian split squats :tongue:

Or burpees... just because.

Meh not sure about a PVP because I'm just doing all sorts of crap, whatever challenge or activity I feel like.

Maybe if I start bouldering? :)

I think you should finish 5 new problems at the gym.  I'm not sure how many routes you have where you climb, but you should be able to challenge yourself and manage to do it.  When you choose to do it, I can match you out here  (top-roping though, I'm bollocks on the bouldering wall).

Guys! I'm just back from the bouldering centre where I could try the chinese pole! The teacher was finishing setting it up and I asked him if I could try it, he showed me some moves, how to climb, to hold and stuff like that. I even managed to balance myself between the 2 poles. That was helluva hard but so much fun!

 

...

 

And my whole body hurt already :D

 

They are thinking of putting some chinese pole lessons on friday starting February, I will participate for sure! It will be a really good complement to climbing. :)

Ooh, another musician. Hi! Hope you don't mind if I follow your challenge.

 

As far as your second goal goes, might I recommend adding some flexibility to change it if it turns out not to work for your skin? I also have skin that tends toward simultaneously dry and oily, and I found out pretty quickly when I tried a twice-a-day washing regimen that while moisturizing morning and night is critical, washing that often actually makes my nose more oily, my cheeks more flakey, and overall increases the instance of pimples. If you've done it before and it works, ignore me, but otherwise maybe think about allowing for adjustments if you find in a couple weeks that it's making things worse.

In regards to your concerns about lacking something from your diet, I'd recommend that you use MyFitnessPal. I've found it to be a little irritating to set up the way I want it, but it's still incredibly useful for tacking calories and breaking down the nutritional information, that could probably tell you if you're getting enough vitamins and such.

Thanks for your attention! And of course you are right, if I see that the skin care is not good for me, I will change the formula. As long as I don't give up on skin care, I will allow myself flexibility. :)

I'm already using it. But a lot of the micro nutriment are not written down, so I'm never sure if I'm not getting enough or not. Still, it's indeed interesting to use.

Heh, you know, with my profession the first law of robotic is not really applicable. What's an assassin who can't kill, really. Thanks for checking on me, I saw that crossing the bridge inspired you, that made me really happy!

Hey Nuala.

 

Offering your self up as a NF robot for hire is an interesting goal.  And by interesting I mean awesome.

 

In my past challenges, going to the doc/dentist were something I had to push my self into.  I dislike going, but once I am there it isn't so bad.

The doc found that I was lacking some supplements, so another challenge consisted of me taking some vitamin D and a multi vitamin.  I have been doing that regularly and I feel good, ( eating well, quitting smoking, and working out helped also.)  My last set of blood work ( I get it tested often because of my job.) came backing showing that my vitamin intake has made a difference.

 

When do you plan on going to see the docs?
