Starting officially 7th of January, but will dabble in this the first week of 2013

to get the feel of the goals.

First year BBA-student, sleepwalking through life, not knowing what he wants to do with his life...

Wasting his time waiting for something to magically appear. Slowly waking up: "What have I done

to really be worth looking up on? To have really mattered to me?

... Hmm. ... Yeah... Well, better get to it then!"

I'm going to assume here I can have more than one life goal

Life goals:

Fearkilling: Find and do things that scare me. +1 WIS for every success (Max. gain of 5 points

out of the whole challenge)

What I've come up this far for the list:

If I happen to swear aloud:

Do 5 Push-Ups. As long as it won't dirty my clothes or I'm not in a queque where it'd hinder others.

Lay down into the ground for 10 seconds and get up like nothing happened (thank you, Tim Ferriss)

Say a genuine compliment to a stranger (from the NF article: How to be awesome at approaching people)

Strike up a conversation with someone I don't know (has to be done 5 times to get +1 WIS)

Arrange meetings with anyone willing to practice speaking English.

Stop drinking coffee. Got this done 1.1-6.1.2013 (outside of challenge, no stats.)

Vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds (or any combination) for a total of one pound twice a week

Note: not necessarily the same days as working out, but preferred

Drink half a liter a full liter of water/day.

(Might be bititing more than I can chew)

You've got an awful lot of goals to focus on, which is why the challenges now only allow 4 goals.  Your goals need to be measurable; for example your "fear killer" goal-what constitutes success?  1 point a day?  1 point a week? 10 points for the entire challenge?  I think this is your first challenge, so I suggest that you narrow down to the following:

Workouts - 2 workouts/week

Diet cleanup - plan of what is/isn't allowed.

Sleep more -

and finally the Productivity Ninja for your life goal.

Fearkiller's been around at least as long as I have.

 

Your goals to need to be tightened up.  As a college student, I'd advise you against saying no coffee.  I do think that weaning yourself to not having headaches when you do go without is about perfect.  Basically only drink it when you need a boost.

I have conditions that affect my social awareness.  If I am rude, tell me what I could do better.

Thank you for feedback! Yay, a chance to improve!

But I need all of them. It's just they didn't fit into the challenge -yeah, overachiever I know... :)

Many of them just are rather minor individually, so I bundled them up to add up difficulty.

And I got rid of the coffee during 1.1-6.1.2012, so it won't be a concern anymore.

I decided to get 100% out of it because I've tried this before, managed it quite well

and then fallen after month or two. "One cup won't hurt. What's wrong with two...

I'll drink it just this week..."

I could get rid of the extra streching session, though. Freeing some time for the productivity ninja.

I don't know how long it'll take for the sleeping goal to stick, as I haven't really tried it ever before.

Might be three weeks, might be two challenges...

Needed to have the productivity goal, so I made it a side quest. I will achieve it all the same,

it just doesn't get points for me.

You do have a lot of goals, but some of them seem to be examples of bigger goals - like talking to a stranger and laying on the ground are part of doing things you're afraid of?  It sounds like you're trying to build your confidence, so maybe set that as a goal and then a list of things you can do daily to achieve that goal?

 

Maybe something like...(And yes, I'm an absolute organizational nerd):

 

 

Fearkilling: Find and do one thing that scares me per day. +1 for every success

 

Examples:

  • Deliver personally flowers for the curator that helped me through problems I had in high school
  • If I swear, do 5 Push-Ups. As long as it won't dirty my clothes or I'm not in a queque where it'd hinder others.
  • Lay down into the ground for 10 seconds and get up like nothing happened (thank you, Tim Ferriss)
  • Say a genuine compliment to a stranger (from the NF article: How to be awesome at approaching people)
  • Strike up a conversation with someone I don't know (has to be done 5 times to get one WIS)
  • Practice speaking English with someone

     

Clean Up Diet:  Drink 1 liter of water/day and eat 4 servings of vegetables daily and at least 20g of protein.

The workout:

Warm up:

2x100 jumping jacks, 2x10 no-push-ups burpees

Exercises:

Three circuits of 1x nearly-a-chin-up, 45 second plank and 3x10 ten-second slow ducks.

Streching:

2x45 second strech for legs, 2x25 second for Abs and Back

Protein: 200g of chicken = 38g of protein

No vegetables, fruits, seeds or nuts -going to buy tomorrow or Friday.

Push-ups for swearing: three times, not in a crowded place.

300g bag of frozen vegetables

 

13.1 0.75 liters of water

The problem is I can wake up at 6 but then I get trapped in the warm comfort of my bed and actually get out of the bed at 8.00-9.00 I'd need a machine that pulls the blanket off... :)

 

Only one workout this week, didn't get it done this morning and as with those cases, the day was quickly filled with other (less important) things.

I've been having problems with facing the cold first thing in the morning, too.  Well, I've been sick, but just tossing off my clothes and not putting on my sleepwear has made it a more noticeable concern.  Try warmer pajamas and less blankets.

 

Good for getting frozen veggies.

I met the student who I practiced speaking english with once in the previous challenge and he offered to find time for an another lesson.

And I have a potential friend right there.

I realized I need a new trigger for fearkilling: instead of waiting for curses, I just need a constant reminder.
What about drawing a something on my wrist with a (non) permanent marker. Plain "X" is boring, any quote is too long.. ideas?
 

Maybe you can get warmed up by making more/longer posts?  We'll all make you practice your written English at least. 

The problem is spoken english, I can write 90%-fluently. "90%" because after high school the responsibility for spotting
my mistakes is on my own hands, and that tends to lead all the small mistakes I don't notice to pile
up. I've got a creeping feeling I'm not as good writer as at the end of high school.

Anyways, it'd get to beat the fear of interacting with people and also get my english in shape,
ready for being an exchange student and for around the world trip I've been planning to
go after I graduate.

I just thought out that I'd throw all my material stuff out of the window (open it first :) ) if I could get personal growth that way. Life does not work so, but the next challenge will be cluttering everything in my room. Big box in the middle of the room and just throw the "oh, I can't throw this away, I might need it someday"-stuff away. Small wonder how much stuff there's eating up time.

Spoke english with my friend, and managed to improve a bit again.

(The speak english fearkilling will be rated based on how much I improve.

Hard to quantify. But let's sort it out as it comes along..

 

Got workout done 19.1, but I should've waited for my knee to heal. However,

warm-up: 150 jumping jacks,

exercises: 3 circuits of 10 push ups and 45 second plank

and after those circuits once 12 min with the bipedal.

Streching as  usual but with double dose for quads.

My workout 19.1 left my both knees in a queer state: it doesn't feel like real pain, yet there's something wrong with them. I think that if this isn't over by Monday, I'll have to seek a doctor appointment. However, I will still continue with core and upper body strength (yet without warming up). Been using those knees as an excuse to skip working out and have to do some extra planks and push ups in public-fearkilling to patch that up with.

Fearkilling: 6.2

I did 3x10 and 3x45 second planks random public places, mostly my polytechnic. Felt weird, but looks can't hurt :)


Going to ask next week 5
random peoples to join me the speak english thing -acknowledging it here,
because I know I will shy from it if not accountable.

 

And I will show up in Valentine's Day-party 14.2. Normally, I'd shy along in a corner,

but now I'll do my best to actually meet people.

 

Concerning about the goal rating, I assume that anything between 

0-25% = F, 25-50% = D, 50-75% = C, 75-100% = B 100%- ...

Good luck with that Valentine's Day party.  I am not really one for Valentine's day but i am lucky that, if i was, i wouldn't have to try and flirt with anyone on it :) Please do come and tell us how it went though.  I am sure you will have a great time!
