Running/jogging strollers?

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be a Dad in June!

I have every intention of remaining committed to my running and overall fitness throughout the kid's life, and a running stroller seems like a great way to minimize time spent away.

What brands, features, and details should I be considering?  A reasonable price is, of course, welcome, but I'm okay with spending extra if it means a better experience or a safer ride.

Following because even though I don't plan on having any kids soon, I'm interested to see what the nerds have to say on the subject.

"I must not fear. / Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing......Only I will remain."

I've been running with a BOB since my 3yo was 6 months old. It's a bit spendy, but I'm a "cry once" guy and I've put maybe 700 miles on it in that 3 year period.

I recently upgraded to a Double BOB, and I have had both kiddos in it since my second was maybe 2 months old- I did get the carseat attachment this time. The handle console is worth it too.

I suggest taking the plunge- I run with my daughters every Sunday and/or Saturday morning and it:

  • Gives me time with them
  • Teaches them to enjoy the outdoors and exercise
  • Lets momma rest!

As a bonus, both girls other snoozed through the runs when they were infants.

A final tip- spend a lot of time with your kiddo on "tummy time" to get their neck muscles strong fast- the strength of their necks seems to be the deciding factor to when you can start running with them in the stroller.

Thanks for this!
