Ok NF'ers! I dared to put my name in the number 1 spot. And to be honest, that was only because I just figured out that the teams also have registration rosters.

Anyway, I'm based in the Netherlands and am ready to fire away at this challenge. I've already completed my 'Streak Challenge' for today.

I'll be back tomorrow and update the finer bits of this awesome accountability section.

Hey all. I am Mainecoon. I am new to nerdfitness and this is my first challenge. I am currently trying to get the app I downloaded to track food to work, as well as talking myself into taking a picture of myself. UGH! Wish me luck!

@bagpipenebula: Don't let that get you down; tomorrow is another day. I've found the easiest 2 ways to get more veggies into my diet is to either have a mandatory salad for lunch or, more recently, by switching to green smoothies in the morning. Smoothies aren't the most economical/easiest for a lot of people, but my DH makes a killer one and they've really helped us up our veggie quotient without having to stress out about it. I also have a backup lunch rule that if I don't have any leftovers in the house (I work out of my home), I have to walk the 4 blocks to the store to get a salad. It's helped curb my trying to find any excuse at all to order delivery Thai. 

 

Biking is a great workout! I personally hate, detest, and abhor getting near two-wheeled non-motored transport; but more power to you - from everything I've heard and read, it is one of the best forms of exercise out there.

@bagpipenebula - My DH's recipe incorporates an apple, banana, kale, spinach, celery, cilantro, orange juice, avocado and ginger. I'll get the full recipe from him and post. This smoothie is fabulous and fills me up until lunch with no problem. It also isn't filled with additives and sugar like the kind you can buy in the store.

@UGWF-MAN - lol. That's awesome! Not sure if that is exactly how I feel after eating a smoothie, but maybe it would be if I added hemp and/or flax + whatever dulse is.

Alright, I kept a low profile for a bit, as have some of us.

 

Calling all Adventurers/Rebels on this team!!!... Who is sucking wind, cramping and loving it? Who knows there is a plyometric calling their name. Who has not made these awesome Egg Muffins that are on the forum?, I will be too lame to post the link to, but will suit up and and post the recipe:

 

These babies help out at least 3-4X a week and are great. My wife complains about the bacon, I'll make her turkey bacon next time, but we are not afraid of some fat, y'all... Here is the recipe. I'm pretty sure there will be a future challenge that will address sleep!

 

Egg muffins:

 

Line muffin tins with strips of raw bacon. Put in veggies (spinach, asparagus, peppers, fried onion, whatever). Put in spices (pepper, basil, thyme, whatever. This is a very exact meal as you can see). Crack an egg on top.

 

Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or something. The recipe is in here somewhere. Hey presto, egg muffins.

 

Today I got back on the Beginner Body Weight Exercise with 3 sets, with many, reps to go. So far, got the jumping jacks and plank. Tomorrow I'll be hunting shin splints and making sure they've been run out of the gym. Love me some New Balance.

@ Gus - That egg not so mc muffin sounds fabulous. I've done something similar in the past as part of a bacon-heavy calorie bomb brunch, absolutely loved it, and should really give it another shot (just maybe a little healthier with more veggies)! Congrats on the bodyweight exercises - I've done 3 reps twice this week and can feel the thigh burn.

Good luck with the shin splints, Gus! I'm finally healed from them myself, after having taken a six-week more-or-less forced break from dancing. I should add that into my daily routine, actually, strengthening my shins so I won't ever need to deal with shin splints again!

 

I'm rocking my diet and fitness goals at the moment--20 minutes biking on Wed, an hour walking yesterday, minimum of three servings of fruits/vegetables the last couple of days (I actually made it to five yesterday! I was hungry, but reached for the dried fruit rather than the chips), and stretching every day except Monday.

 

I could use a kick in the butt to get my life goal going, though! I haven't completed any job applications this week.

@bagpipenebula - That is great! Snack time is always dangerous; congrats for selecting dried fruit.

On a side note, going into this weekend is kind of anxiety inducing regarding where to eat. Does anyone have any suggestions on what kind of restaurants I should gravitate toward for paleo food? 

 

We have a grass fed burger bar where I live with lettuce wraps as an option, but my DH is less than excited about that for dinner tonight. Aside from a steakhouse, I'm having trouble conceptualizing where to go. Sushi is out (there is no way my DH will stick to sashimi). Asian is a sticky subject (our favorite kind of food, but heavy with noodles and dumplings - also our favorites). Mexican seems hard (beans, rice and cheese). 

 

Lunch shouldn't be too bad; we can always stop into somewhere serving brunch for steak & eggs. 

 

Has anyone else found any type of no-fail that works for them?

@bagpipenebula: have you created an online profile like LinkedIn or Monsterboard?

Sometimes that would enable job offers to come your way.

You can fire away some 'trial' applications just to get a routine with small successes by having exposure to application processes.

I am hearing stories about people having to do 30 applications and the whole process taking up to six months.

Hope you can get your numbers up this week.

@darkfoxx: what is a DH?

Got a big weekly workout for tomorrow morning. It's game day! One of my challenges is to 'document' this workout. I hope you guys and gals can find the time to post your thoughts and comments on it. I know that I need to take the first step here.
