I think the regular push ups weakened me for doing planks. Perhaps I should do them farther apart during the day....?

wow, good for you on the bike- rolling through lots of miles and with good exertion, too.  I went at it really lazy today, was hurting from cross country skiing weekend.  Good work on the planks and db rows, too.   And of course, great work on the weight loss.

Thanks Honeysuckle. I am trying to get in shape for a Finger Lakes winery cycling tour with a couple of friends. We haven't set a date yet but are planning for this summer some time.

I hope you had a great skiing weekend. How was the snow where you went?

Skiing- snow was as deep as it gets these days- we went to Pulaski (Lake Oneida, NY) which gets all that lake effect snow.  It was above hovering around freezing with precip happening when we were there- the snow stuck to my waxless skis, but my husband had to pole himself around with just his arms, it was so slippery even with klister wax.  It froze up and got crunchy overnight, so Sunday was better.  We ended up going to Winona forest, not a ski resort, on Sunday, and loved it.  Tried out the new snowshoes there, too.

I did a finger lakes group ride a few years ago- Bon Ton Roulet.  It's run by the YMCA, so it's cheap ($550 or so).  It's about a week long, about 350 miles if you ride the shorter version, and it does pass by wineries.  We tried the wine tastings en route a few times- staggered up those steep climbs afterwards!  If you buy wine, the tour will pick it up and shuttle it to your tent for you (yep, there's the rub).  I trained a bunch for that ride myself, and basically had no problem with the distance.  I climbed slowly, for sure.  I bought a new seat for my bike before I left on the tour (a real rookie mistake) and suffered mightily from that.
