ormaybemidgets
Hello again! Things got shitty last challenge, but they are all good now. Back in it! Goals: 1. I have this schedule coming up: 1 week of Reading Week (no class), 1/2 week of finals week (no class), 1.5 weeks of Spring Break, then the final week back at school. USUALLY, this is a terrible time for me exercise-wise, but I am hoping for better this time. I'm going to try to do Pilates first thing when I get up, so that'll set the tone for the day. And since I don't actually have a schedule during this time, it should be doable. Then running or BBWW in the afternoon. I'll set a 4 days a week goal. 2. Eat well. During the Bad Time, I either barely ate, or ate all sugar all day. But the challenge before that one, I had the nutrition to a really good place. So just get back there. 3. Figure out what's happening in my life right now. Law school. Boyfriend. It's all difficult. I'm trying to figure out where I am, and where I'm headed, and whether I'm okay with that or not. Brometheus
Good luck. I know that it can get hard with a busy schedule, but it is possible Link to comment

Alethea
Ormay!! Squad buddy! I was all lonerish and hanging on by my fingernails last challenge myself, but I know you and I are going to rock this thing. Good luck to you! "Let another say. 'Perhaps the worst will not happen.' Philociraptor
Sounds like some intense, self-motivated studying. You will be my inspiration, as I'm trying to fight off laziness on a daily basis. Do it! Link to comment
ormaybemidgets
Hello, friends, thanks for stopping by!The first days of the challenge have been NOT good. I was flying around over the weekend, and I could feel myself getting sick on the way back. Tuesday and Wednesday were okay, a little throaty, a little phlegmy, but I woke up today feeling like DEATH. Nose stuffed. Body achy. Head... drowning. I also have Goal #3 problems all over the place, which probably would have stopped me from working out even if I wasn't sick.Diet is going okay. I'm eating more sugar than I'd like, but less than I was just a week ago. Went to the store yesterday and bought only things for salad, so I'm pretty locked in there Link to comment
Martinpanduh
Good luck Samantha! Happy to be reading along and to see your progress! My workout log: http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/15357-martinpanduhs-workout-log/ Link to comment
Alethea
Hang in there, Samantha. Deep breath, catch your center (I'm not ENTIRELY sure what that means, but it always calms me down), and take care of yourself! I hope you feel better soon, stress and sickness don't mix! Lots of rest, missy! "Let another say. 'Perhaps the worst will not happen.' You yourself must say. 'Well, what if it does happen? Let us see who wins!' ormaybemidgets
Finally! Today I woke up NOT feeling like crap, after a day full of medicine yesterday, and it was awesome. Tomorrow will be my first day back to working out, although I may decide to do only Pilates rather than Pilates + treadmill or BBWW. Sadly it means I'm starting the challenge a week late, but I haven't been able to keep it up for four weeks in past challenges anyway, so maybe it's a blessing in disguise. Also, I don't know if it's because of winter ending or what, but my goal #3 (figure out my life and whether I'm okay with it) is almost exactly Prefect's, and at dinner last night a friend brought up the same concern, phrased almost exactly the same way. Life is nuts, man, nuts. Link to comment
Alethea
It's things like that that make me ALMOST believe in astrology/cycles/chinese year things. Last year seemed to be the Year of The BreakUp, and this is the Year Of The Fresh Start. It's kinda neat, really. Glad you're feeling better! Also glad to hear you're doing pilates. I take it you're liking it? Rolling Like A Ball has to be my favorite exercise ever. There's a pilates class that offeres a free session to noobs last saturday of ever month, and I want to go, but it's 2 hours. 2 hours!! "Let another say. 'Perhaps the worst will not happen.' ormaybemidgets
Oh man, you guys, I am SUCKING at this challenge. I have done nothing. So let's try to make a baby goal. Today I ate no desserts. Tomorrow I will do the Beginner Pilates Video. Link to comment

ormaybemidgets
I did not do the Beginner Pilates Workout (40 minutes), I did a baby workout for my baby goal, the Arms&Abs 15 minute video. And I am... out of shape. Oy. Link to comment
Alethea
It doesn't matter what you did, the point is you did it. Good job! You're stronger today than you were yesterday! "Let another say. ormaybemidgets
Woot! Just doing a single workout makes you stronger than most of the population.Ha! True, thank you I just need to find my THING - you know? Like, competition is my thing, or reward, or punishment, or making just one change, or whatever. I haven't found my THING yet, and every time I think I've got it I just trick myself out of it. Like, "you have an event in three weeks, that's enough time to work out, eat right, and look good by then." And then a couple days in I'm like, "you know what, I'm fine. Don't bother." Stop it self! Alethea
You'll figure it out, you just need to keep experimenting and trying new things. Is there a daily coupon site for your city? I've seen dance classes, martial arts, yoga, bootcamps... all sorts of things offered. Today I got 50% off running shoes! "Let another say. 'Perhaps the worst will not happen.' You yourself must say. prefect42
Today I got 50% off running shoes!Woohoo!Samantha, keep at it. These crazy transitional periods are always really tough, but I know you'll come out the other side strong. How's the law school stuff going?I hear you on not having found your "thing" yet. I get into long periods where I think I've finally found something I love and then eventually the excitement and motivation fade. Like Alethea suggested, I just try to keep doing different things and mixing it up. It's not perfect, but it helps. May we both find THE THING this year! "Did you go to the gym when you were alive?" ormaybemidgets
Today I got 50% off running shoes!Awesome deal! I really should try to get out and mix it up more. I know there's a kickboxing/martial arts place near my apartment, and a dance studio somewhere in town. It's just soooo haaaaaard to motivate myself to do something outside the house - the gym's in my building and I do pilates/BBWW in my room. There are classes at the big gym on the other side of campus, though, maybe I should get back into those. That would be easy(er) and free!May we both find THE THING this year!Hope so! Best of luck to us both! These crazy transitional periods are always really toughMy whole life is a transitional period! But it's better than having to grow up and be a real person. Law school stuff is going well, I'm probably going to accept at Notre Dame this Friday. Very exciting!Monday 3/28Beginner Pilates video - 40 minTuesday 3/29(Tried to get up in the morning to do the Beginner video again, but uh... didn't.)Treadmill! I did intervals, but not very well. 30 minutes, 2.53 miles Link to comment
Alethea
Nice! Good job! I have the same issue with leaving my house. That's how I ended up with BW and Pilates as well "Let another say. ormaybemidgets
Sunday 4/3 Yesterday was me and boyfriend's 1.5 year anniversary, so we went out to the fancy place with the fancy food (and the fancy prices) and the fancy tiny portions. Then at 2am we went for the 7-11 hot dog and Sunchips. And today we had our "it's nice to have a taste of the good life, but we should accept our place in the lower-middle-class" IHOP extravaganza. Haven't eaten anything since breakfast, and I'll probably not eat anything tonight, but I will treadmill it up and think of the wonderful french toast / bacon / eggs / hash browns that was SO TOTALLY worth it. pinupgeek
Even the halfway decent vacuums don't get all the hair off the carpet. I always have to use a brush attachment on the hose to get it up, and since I'm too lazy to do that often, I just use a yoga mat when I'm working out on the floor. You can get them cheapish at Target or TJMaxx/Marshall's if you have one of those (not sure where you're located!). Awesome interval training, though! I always have a hard time with it when I try it.
