Yay for successful days! *chuckles and tilts head* I've always enjoyed wearing guys clothing.... *shuffles to corner* Just because I happen to have a larger bosom area and don't enjoy form fitting clothing...... also..... my little brother likes to borrow my clothes...... *chuckles* I really need some sleep because now my comments have no meaning. 

Anyway! Back on track, soup sounds awesome and your workout sounds like you did quite well on! Great job!

Lol. When I was your age, I wore a crap ton of guys' clothes as well. I'm so old, Jncos were in style, and I remember my uniform at 21 consisted almost exclusively of some form of spaghetti strap tank or crop-top tee + a green army jacket or oversized white men's dress shirt + huge legged pants + combat boots + a ball chain choker. 

 

These days, if I could find the perfect men's inspired blazer and tailored pants that were affordable and fit really well, I'd jump on them in a heartbeat. 

 

The soup was quite awesome - it used soaked cashews as a thickener, and was almost unbelievably creamy for having no dairy in it.

Is the soup on your blog? It sounds wonderful!

 

I know what you mean about the clothes - I'm at that stage where I'm getting rid of my high school/college look, but haven't quite figured out how to replace it. Aside from an intense addiction to cardigans... My only real throwback now is a refusal to wear matching socks!

I don't know if this one is going to make it up there - I didn't change a thing. Here is the recipe. 

 

That clothing stage drove me crazy and I avoided it for years like the plague!

 

I think what really catalyzed me was meeting my DH and having him push me in the direction away from black and toward color and prints. My style was more Hot Topic (a gothy/punky/metal mall store) when we met, and his taste was and still is, more Anthropologie (think Zooey Deschanel). Getting a real job in an office with other women who notice that type of thing helped as well, as did watching hours and hours of 'What Not To Wear'. 

 

I've now settled somewhere off in left field, but would like to think I usually know how to dress like a grownup (ok, maybe the sparkly unicorn cuts of meat shirt isn't the most grown up thing ever, but paired with a black blazer and cute jeans I could argue to the contrary). 

 

@Pookie: quiche freaks me out something fierce, but that sounds intriguing.

Week 1 Day 4 Update

 

Breakfast: DH's smoothie

Lunch: Baby spinach, radicchio, mixed herbs, mache, red pepper, and leftover pulled lamb salad with chipotle roasted garlic dressing

Dinner: Lemon pepper chicken breast with sauteed broccolini; spinach, kale and avocado pesto; and sauteed mushrooms & onions

Week 1 Weekend Update & Wrapup Report

 

Friday - Food was good, though a little veggie light at dinner. Breakfast was one of my DH's green smoothies. Lunch was a leftover mashup - cauliflower soup topped with sauteed zucchini, mushrooms, and onions and topped with a kale/spinach/avocado pesto. Yum. Dinner was at Bare Burger (our favorite organic, grass-fed burger joint that serves alternative game meats). I had the Maui Wowie burger (smoked mozzarella, roasted red peppers, pineapple, grilled onions, turkey bacon and buttermilk ranch) with wild boar on a gluten-free tapioca bun. I also had about 10 fries and a diet root beer, which was fantastic and I think the first (non seltzer water) pop I've had in months. 

 

Saturday - I had a Naked Juice green smoothie for breakfast and a hand full of pistachio clusters with dried fruit for lunch. We had Shabu Shabu for dinner with beef, mushroom, sweet potato, tofu, udon, rice noodles, rice, cabbage and basil and I'm totally not complaining about that. I did eat about a quarter cup noodles and a few Tablespoons of white rice, but I'm not feeling bad about that. No heavy sauces, no added fat - really can't feel bad about that meal. I also had freeze-dried mangos for a snack, which were odd and I'm not sure I liked. 

 

Sunday - I woke up to 2 eggs over easy and 2 strips bacon in bed :); had a sushi dinner with 12 pc. nigiri sushi and a California roll, roasted eggplant with a seafood dynamite topper, and a few sips of miso soup for lunch; and a hand full of fried pea snack things for dinner. 

 

I'm happy to report that I managed to eat not crazy this weekend. A little more snack food than I like (they're healthy snacks, but still... they come in a package; even if that package is from Trader Joes), but a good weekend all in all. I ate some empty starch, but didn't o.d.; had a burger with some cheese, but it was a burger I can't argue with at all; and even managed to stop at just a few of my DH's fries. I split a beer with my DH at the Louis C.K. show we went to on Saturday, but that wasn't even that bad. We didn't manage to walk a ton, but I did get some quality nap time in and I even got a card making project substantially completed this Sunday - complete enough that I no longer have to negotiate around my laptop, silhouette machine, and file of paper when wanting to sit on the couch. Go, me. 

 

 

 

 

Goal #1: Weight. 

 

I weigh myself every morning, but since I'm fairly blind, I can't see the scale. Luckily(?) I have a Fitbit scale, and it keeps track of things for me. On the 25th, I weighed 136.9; on the 3rd, I weighed 135.1. I'd say that's a bit of weight loss and a win in my book. 

 

 

Goal #2: Push myself harder in working out.

 

I think I did this successfully this week. I did a killer workout on Monday, had a sensible rest my arms day (but not really) the next day, and did 2 back-to-back great yoga sessions to round the week out. 

 

 

Goal #3: This is a life goal - I'd like to level up my clothing this cycle.

 

I did a little toward this goal on Monday with the figuring out exactly what my goal should be. I need to do more here, and had fully intended on making myself do some work Saturday morning before I discovered that the house was ridiculously cold and I just didn't want to. 

 

 

Goal #4: FIgure out what I've been eating that has been putting little daggers and/or metric tons of gas and bloating into my stomach. 

 

I've been continuing my spreadsheet listing my food intake for the day and marking when I feel bloated and or in pain. So far, no big trends to report and I really haven't been that bad the last few days. 

 

 

My grade for the week is an A. Next week, I have to do some more work on goal 3 in order to earn another A.

I know... I'm back to the pre making-this-a-goal-that-is-out-there-in-the-worlds-on-the-Internets 'don't wanna' mindset. I don't wanna, and it's not going to be as perfect as I want it to, so I hate it. I think in order to combat that, I'll either need to get a full-length mirror to take pics of myself actually in all the items of clothing, or to get over myself and realize that having flat pictures on hangers suspended from the top of my doorway isn't the worst thing in the world that has ever happened. 

 

Or, I'll need a massive kick in the ass. I'm hoping the fear that I might not get an A for the week will at least make me do something.

Sweet! Yay, medals! It *was* a pretty great week, goals-wise. The trick is really going to be keeping it up in weeks 3-5; that seems to be where I flag a bit and coast. No coasting this time!

Great job - really pleased about the weight loss. 

 

And now you are in team velocity there is no flagging in week 3 or 4 or 5. We get all competitive about mini challenges and you have to join in or the rest of us seem a bit weird! LOL

lol. I'm on it for this week - the plan is to jog in Wii fit land at least once this week since it looks like the weather isn't going to play nice, and hopefully take an epic city stroll this weekend (weather permitting).

Week 2 Day 1 Update

 

Starting off the week strong.

 

Breakfast: Naked Juice green smoothie

Lunch: Raw kale salad with dried cranberries, almonds, edamame, cherry tomatoes and a garlicky white dressing

Post lunch slump: Fried pea snack things, some sort of mystery plum like fruit

Dinner: Half of a chile rellenos-style stuffed green pepper with ground beef, olives, raisins, and tomatoes

 

Workout: Yoga Meltdown Part 1 and I rocked it - got all the way through the triangle split leg kick things, and most of the way through dolphin both reps without having to stop. Also killed it in Warrior 3 and got into just about the full pose on both sides. I still need some work on kicking my back leg up, but the stability has become much better. 

 

I did some thinking about the clothing portion of my goals and have been trying to log onto Netrobe for 2 days from my phone to check and see what all I put up there ages ago with no luck.

Week 2 Day 2 Update

 

Breakfast: Naked Juice Red Machine smoothie

 

Lunch: Leftover half a stuffed pepper from last night

 

3pm Slump Snack: Fried pea things again

 

Dinner: Quinoa with Southern greens, avocados, hard boiled eggs, toasted pine nuts, scallions, and carrot coriander vinaigrette

 

After Dinner I'm Starving To Death Snack: Sweet potato chips

 

Workout: 30 Day Shred Part 1 - I did pretty well. Crapped out a bit on anything involving arms, but made it through the workout fairly strong. 

 

No work on clothing goal

 

Kept my spreadsheet up

 

And as an added bonus, my FitBit scale says I've reached my goal weight of 135, so that's a plus. Hopefully that means I'm on track for fitting into my pants in a few weeks :) 

 

As a resolution, I need to not buy snacky food at Trader Joes this weekend. The hubbs is back to eating like shit since he had to exercise a modicum of will power for a total of a month, so he is back to buying crap and eating pizza. Lots of Mtn. Dew and lots of sweet potato chips. The sweet potato chips, admittedly, only have 3 ingredients (chips, oil & salt), and at least they're sweet potato, but I still don't need to eat them on the regular. 

 

Also, my pea snacks, while also consisting of 3 ingredients (peas, oil & salt), they are still fried and still don't need to become a habit. I need to grab more wasabi nori sheets next trip and fruit.

I especially like your clothing goal. I tend to buy the same stuff, (styles, colors etc.) and I need to wear more stylish clothes. Something to think about when I go thru my closest again.. I have a wedding to go to in May, and will be needing a dress. Since I'll be in decent shape again, it'll be fun to buy one. Never been inside the White/ Black store, but I'll look there when I'm ready . Keep up the great work!

@Skiley: Thanks. It's a hard one for me, too - I get stuck on a fabric or a cut. I really, really like drapey jersey - which is nice, but maybe a little excessive for 70% of a wardrobe. I'm also excited about wedding dress buying - my sister is getting married in July, and while I'll be stuck in a (!bright yellow!) bridesmaids dress for the ceremony, I'm totally picking out something new and fresh and maybe not black for the rehearsal dinner. And shoes. Wtf am I supposed to wear with frickin yellow?!
