Good morning fellow Druid,

Too many people take liberties with each others time. They are too late for appointments and leave others waiting. They promise to do something on a certain day and don't do it. How often have you been left waiting? Feeling disappointed?

NF Rebellion HQ's is determined to put a stop to this lack of respect for your own time and other peoples time. Your mission Druid, should you decide to accept it, is to be on time. You have a total of 8 days from the posting of this message to succeed in your efforts!

As always, should you or any of your Guild be caught or killed, NF Rebellion HQ will disavow any knowledge of your actions.

This message will not self-destruct in five seconds.

Good luck Druid.

Its time for the second Druid mini-challenge!!!

The details:

  • There will be 6 mini-challenges in total.
  • Each mini-challenge starts when I post the mini-challenge topic (usually on a Sunday or Monday) and runs until the following Monday at 23:59 (your time zone). Technically it is possible that 2 mini-challenges run at the same time... if I post the next mission on a Sunday you can continue with the previous mission until the Monday and already start on the next mission. Confused? Don't worry... its not that complicated!  :)
  • Participation in the mini-challenges is optional but encouraged.
  • Why participate? Its fun to play, what you do is generally something that is useful for you... and if that wasn't enough to motivate you, you can award yourself +1 attribute point if you complete at least 1 mission in all 6 mini-challenges (you can choose the attribute that gets the point).
  • Who can participate? Anyone. Druids and any members of other guilds can join any of the mini-challenges.
  • What do you have to do? That will depend on the mission. You can complete as many missions as you like for the week the mini-challenge is running for.
  • Log your completed missions here: COMPLETED MISSIONS
  • Remember this is supposed to be fun... so don't stress, don't let it get you side-tracked from your own challenge and most importantly: HAVE FUN!!!!

This week the mission is to be on time. You can count a completed mission for each day that you are on time for all your commitments. Since the challenge runs from when its posted until the following Monday, you have a total of 8 possible mission days that you can successfully complete. Commitments are things like:

1. Make it to all meetings/classes on time.
2. Get up and go to bed on time.
3. If you promised to do something on this day, do it... and do it on time! (i.e. submit a form/assignment, cook dinner, etc) - for this last one be sure to decide ahead of time exactly what you are counting. I recommend to keep this to no more than 3 items... some days may have none. :)

Better three hours too soon than a minute too late.

- William Shakespeare, The Merry Wives of Windsor

Yes, I know this will be a challenging week... thats why we call it:

getting up and going to bed on time would be good for me. sort of goes along with one of my goals. :)

Even better. For me I have being punctual as part of my life goal, so it will help with my own challenge.

Of course, being on time is a good habit to have in any case. So this week is an opportunity to test how that feels, for the ones amongst us who are habitually late... like me.  :)

Oh my, did you make this just for me? Today I have to take my kid to cub scouts... and... the leader will be delayed so she gave me the key and I have to open up the meeting room and start the meeting. I can't be late!!!

I read something once that was a catchy quote and I can't remember it - but it was this, basically. It isn't what happens in the 15 minutes before you need to be somewhere that makes you late, it is some choice you made hours before. This concept has improved my ability to get my family to bed on time. I realized that I don't need to set a bed time as much as I need to set a getting-ready-for-bed-time. This has made a huge difference. If we start getting ready for bed at the right time, there is a natural consequence that we will be ready and able to go to bed at bedtime. After quite a lot of experimentation, I discovered that I have to start the winding-down, getting-ready-for-bed-time a full two hours before actual get-in-the-bed-time!

Good challenge!

Okeeey. Getting ready to go downhill skiing in the morning takes a lot of preparations. My partner wants to be there (very) early and the sixteen-year-old is in another time zone I think. But-we made it and in the end everybody was happy:-)

Main thing here is not to get upset ...

I have chosen to believe in myself.

Oh that is an incentive to be on time!

That is an awesome concept and I totally believe in it, specially now that I have children... they are like little trains on tracks, start them up early enough and it bed time runs smoothly (or as smooth as a 4 year old and 20month old will allow)... strong routine and start early. :) The same is good for the morning, we now lay out the girls clothes as part of their bed time routine. No more argument about what the girls are wearing in the morning since we started that... Some days I go into their room to help them with getting ready for bed and find them picking their clothes! :D

16-year-olds are not known for being morning people. Glad you made it! :)

Oh, I'm going to SO NOT ROCK this one but will participate as I can.

I'm punctual with appointments to meet other people, but my to-do list keeps getting warmed over until it's embarrassing.

I see your to-do list and raise you mine. I know what I speak of... I looked at it today and shifted things around that were due in November!  :redface-new:

Do not include your whole to-do list or even all the items you set yourself to be due today! That is not the aim of this mini-challenge. Include a maximum 1 to 3 items... things where other people are really counting on you. Pick the ones that will have the biggest impact!

Like today, I had promised my girls that I would do easter crafts with them... so I made sure whatever else I got done, I did that 1 thing.   :)

I made it to cub scouts on time. I got ready plenty early in the day, but I still felt panicky as i was loading the car and leaving - Pavlovian learned reaction? I need to reprogram myself LOL

My next challenge here is going to be getting materials prepped for kids schoolwork - I just realized last night that i had not printed out their next unit in chemistry... but that in itself is better because I might not have realized that until it was time to do chemistry today LOL.

Gonna get that done this morning before they wake up and look ahead to see what else I can prep for the rest of the week - I usually do this on weekends but this past weekend's birthday party, sleepover, then getting sick with a sinus infection has thrown me off.

now to get printing...

I'm assuming results from each challenge are all presented at end rather than after each?

You can do it however you prefer. I like to add mine as I go... and its fun to see what everyone else is doing. :)

Sadly, I flunked on punctuality both yesterday and today. Was so late to a 1 hour meeting I only attended the last 3 minutes on Tuesday, today I got distracted talking at the kindergarden and was 5minutes late to a doctors appointment. Everything else was good. So no entry from me for the past 2 days. Tomorrow will be better! :)

Back to EDIT/ADD: for this mini-challenge series there are no overall results... we are not competing against each other. I might make a table with most active Druid agents at the end just for fun. Basically each participant hopefully benefits from participating, the missions are designed to help us do better in life!

Awesome about making to cub scouts on time. And realizing ahead of time about the chemistry unit not being printed out. Keeping things running smoothly for the kids can be so much pressure... and so much easier when we prepare and are organised ahead of time! :)

Yeah, I got all the kids school papers printed that I needed and used them all week - nice not to be printing stuff every day.  AND, bonus ON TIME effort, I made it to my sister's birthday lunch on time - that in itself is not that big a deal because I don't have that big of a problem with lateness - but the cool thing I did was... I started to convince myself that I had time to make an unscheduled stop before - but I paused and thought it through, added up the various times of what I wanted to do and where I needed to be - and decided not to do that. Sure enough I was a bit early to the lunch date - but only a couple of minutes - definitely not time to do the extra stop I was trying to talk myself into. So, yay me! good reality check.

Thanks for the reminder about daylights savings. I work with several different time zones and its always a bit of a mess around this time. Specially with not all countries changing at the same time... and then some go into summer time while others go into winter time. I'm going to be time-zone ninja during this switch...
