DC Meetup/Workout

Recommended Posts

Hey all!  I've actually lived in Northern VA my whole life, but I just now finally got around to creating an account on here.  I'm just posting to express my interest in the local NF meetup that we seem to be talking about now. :)  I would be interested in either a social type gathering, or getting together to work out once the area stops being a frozen tundra.

I won't be ready for the one March, but how about April 26th? I would love to do this with some fellow NFers!

That looks awesome!!! I might be able to be ready by April 26th. Also have to check if I have to work that weekend, but this looks amazing! Definitely going to look more into it

Woo! And if we can't get ready for the April one, there's one in May and June - so plenty of chances.

The rucking looks awesome! Maybe April, although May/June seems a safer bet for me personally (and cheaper, since we'd be early enough for a discount at this time).

Since we've been having a hard time getting people together for an active meetup, would it make sense to do a more stereotypical DC-style meet up such as a happy hour or a brunch, if just to get together and meet and make plans from there?

So I found this place from dcist, and was won over by Millennium Falcon toast. http://www.saint-ex.com/menus/brunch

Also here's the whole list, if anyone else has input: http://dcist.com/2013/10/the_best_brunch_spots_in_dc.php

Since I don't actually live in DC I haven't been in a lot for food (which is such a shame), so definitely open for better informed decisions. And I would lean towards Sunday for the day, since I forgot I have Terp Thon on that Saturday (12 hour dance thon, woooo)

Saint-Ex sounds like an excellent suggestion - interesting and diverse menu, with meal options that are or can easily become Paleo/vegetarian/etc.

It sounds like the days on the table are

  • Saturday March 8th
  • Sunday March 9th
  • Saturday March 15th
  • Sunday March 16th

...with Sunday March 9th being the most solidly preferred time by recent respondants.

Saint-Ex - assuming it is amenable to all parties - serves brunch between 11-4 on Saturdays and Sundays, so how does Sunday, March 9th at 1:00pm sound?

In case that doesn't work for people, I've created a Doodle so we can get a sense of when people are available to participate: Click here!!!  to put in availability, if desired. I did each of the dates above with an option for 11am, 1pm, and 2:30pm. The (Yes) option is a "Maybe", or "If need be" option.

I'm not usually this organized, so enjoy it while it lasts. ;)

Totally forgot about the FB group, too. I would vote 1:00 or 2:30 on Sunday March 9th. :) Saint Ex looks sweet.

7 people have responded to the Doodle so far! It seems like the original proposed date is the majority-rules-winner so far (Sunday at 1), but I just messaged anyone that has posted in this thread before and has been active on NF in the last month so we can try to get a couple more... As it's only been 24 hours, but this is a tight timeline, I'd suggest letting people post through Monday, so that we can put in a reservation Tuesday morning, especially if it's going to be this Sunday after all. Sound good? *highfive*

So I wanted to pass word along about this:  http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/45359-warrior-dash-maryland/ Fenshire's looking for some local nerds to meet/hang out with/potentially run.

I'm incredibly intimidated by the obstacles, but planning to be there as support at least.
