I don't have any questions at the moment, but I do have a pretty sweet video I'd like to share with yall! I'm working towards achieving this amazing accomplishment of astonishing assassin athleticism. In fact, a lesser version of it is one of my goals for the next six week challenge!     https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=308754125907494

I am struggling big time trying to focus and narrow my goals. Agghhhh. Any help, ideas, funny videos- I don't know what I need.

Goal #1 decided- keep up with my KB program and level up to next program

Goal #2 possibilities..... do 800 chin ups (becaues I really want to work on these) practice handstand GTG style 3x a week (something else I want to do) TGU"S for 5 min 2x  a week (had this goal a couple of challenges ago, but I've dropped the habit and my kettlebell program recommends doing them) working out at the park 4 times during the challenge, sledgehammer (another thing I want to add back in somewhere) ab work cause I never do it but should

Goal #3 decided food limit nuts to 3x a week, and no eating after 7:00, sweets 1 x a week

Life goal: build a hoop cold frame for garden bed, cook a new meal from one of my my paleo cookbooks 1 x a week, make a list of all the projects that need to be done around the house (housepainting, fence etc,,, and start taking steps to getting it done) This last one is what I really need to do, but boring. I may do a combo goals so I can have one fun goal and one get it done goal.

edited to say; Oh wait there was one more I thought about; doing the pistol squat progression from GMB and GTG style pistol just getting up from a chair. I got frustrated with trying to learn this one and stopped for a bit, but trying some new methods would be a good restart.

And another... conquering the hill. There is a hill I climb up. I used to have to stop 1/2 way and no longer need to stop, but I'd like to get up it without running out of breath.

Wow, Elastigirl, that's quite a...variety you have there. With that many choices, I would suggest you narrow it down to two. I would say find the one that would give you the most over-all benefit, and the one that you like doing the least, and make those two a combo goal.

As far as the life goal, I would agree on a combo goal there as well, going off of your idea to pick one that would be fun and another that you really need to do, but don't really want to.

Anyways, that's my two-cents' worth, hope it helps!

Have a great challenge everyone!  I'm disappearing into the land of sporadic internet about halfway through the challenge (and will be staying there until the end of August), so won't be officially participating this time around (except for the first few mini-challenges, bring it on!), so have a great one and I'll report back in September with all of my knowledge gained from my covert mission to the mountains of Ohio

Ha ha, I love that Athletes on Ninja Warrior is a real world example of the assassins.

Maybe next year I'll make an attempt to try to compete on it.  I have vaguely considered competing on it a goal.  Gotta get my one handed grip strength up and fingertip grip stamina up, but both are coming around.  Fintertip grip strength/stamina has been a major, albeit barely written about, focus for me.  Once I master these damn muscle ups and front levers, and move on to one arm chin training, I'll be ready.  Will have to make a salmon ladder though for practice.

I need some help on goal setting for this challenge. Here is what I have so far:

Life goal is Paleo weekdays/slightly relaxed on weekends.

Go climbing once a week.

Master either a back handspring or an aerial (whichever comes first).

I need one more goal.

Actually, you can go ahead with three - there's no requirement that you do four, I don't think. I'd call your Paleo goal diet, not lifestyle, so I'd look at life goals - do you have any projects or lifestyle things you want to work on? Decluttering, keeping up with friends/family, getting out more (or less), beating a specific game, reading more books, sleeping better...? Anything sounding interesting?

3 fitness and 1 lifestyle is what you are supposed to do.

I disagree with your idea on Paleo. It isn't something I am going to do for 45 mins 3x a week. It is something I am trying to life 5 days a week. Thanks for the thoughts though.

Maybe go re-read the challenge instructions, they're not so rigid: http://nerdfitnessrebellion.com/index.php?/topic/26792-challenge-instructions/. But if you're set on having four goals, I'd check out the assassins' forum from last challenge and see if any of the goals people did appeal to you. People have done a lot of different awesome things!

Do you run?  What about running?  Trail running would be fun especially if there are rocks and trees and things to jump/climb around.  You could do some kind of Parkour thing to practice going fast over/around/under different obstacles.  One thing I do when I take my dog to the park is run around and jump/climb over every picnic table and bench we can find.  It turns in to a great workout!

Also another question for everyone!  How do you keep up with reading and replying to everyone's challenge threads?  And if you don't follow everyone, how do you choose who to follow?  I would love to read about and learn from everyone!

I had a hard time with this last challenge (my first). What I did was read through a bunch of different threads and then follow the ones I related to the best. Similar goals or stories or ways of thinking/writing. Also, if you find someone you really click with, see who else they follow cause you might click with some of the same people. Hope that helps :-)

I really do like keeping 4 goals. I feel like if I drop one, then I am slacking off. Just a personal feeling. I do run, but maybe trail running would be a good addition. The climbing idea was to help me prepare for some Parkour, so that could assist as well.

As far as threads go, I am terrible at this. I usually only follow one or two people at a time. I can't say I have a methodology to it either other than trying to lend some support if it sounds like somebody needs it.

It's good that there are so many Assassins getting work done! But it's hard to keep up with everyone. I can only closely follow a few people!

I did exactly what Sam did; I read through a bunch of threads the first few days, then followed those I felt I related to somehow or was inspired by.

It can be overwhelming for the first couple of weeks when people are super into the challenge and post regularly, then you'll see, it dies down a little. Also, you'll figure out fairly quickly whom you really click with and want to answer to every time and whom you want to follow silently.

I have a few people I just follow, because we've been interacting a lot.

I try to keep up with people who support me. In a sort of returning the favor.

And depending on my life/time I might pick up 1 or 2 first challenges of people I don't know.

It's not that I have a set number of thread. Though a few challenges ago I had a support goal, so I was very very active on quite a lot of threads.

I try to keep it within limit and only comment on threads the original poster posted an update.

Lots of good answers to this already - first, the mechanics: I auto-subscribe to threads I post on, but don't get notifications for any of them - then when I come to the site, I go to Content I Follow and see what's new.

Who to follow? This is my method: 1. People I know from previous challenges (not an issue for you this challenge, but next time, finding them again is worth doing!). 2. People who post on my thread - if they're following me, I try to follow them. 3. People with similar goals. 4. New people who haven't gotten a lot of responses. 5. People I can learn from or who are entertaining to follow.

Accept that you won't be able to follow everyone, and if you have some unexpected free time, read through people you aren't following to see what they're up to. Also, like Nuala, I read a lot more than I post to, particularly once we're into the challenge. And it does slow down - since a lot of us use the auto-subscribe, a lot of the early posts are really just to subscribe to the thread and let the original poster know you're following.

:) WWE fanatic here.  I'm going to see WWE Live in June and I am SO. EXCITED.

My favorite of the current Superstars' signature poses is Randy Orton's up on the ropes.  It's harder to do than it looks (yes, I practice it regularly!).  :biggrin-new:

ortona.jpg

I also love the Miz, and he has a pose during his entrance where he grabs onto the ropes and does a sweet slide to the side to show off for the crowd....I couldn't find a good picture of it but it's another of my favorites.
