Jimmy
way to go on the not smoking... I have never done it but I am told the first couple weeks are the hardest... good thing you got us for support Thanks alienjenn! To be honest I never thought it would be that hard - and I was right I was originally going to give it up just to prove to my mates that I could (being that I used to go through a pouch of rolling tobacco every two days). But I thought stuff it, why not go all out and get fit and healthy as well! So no more bad food, no more cigarettes and lots of exercise! Cold turkey isn't as hard as people make it out to be Thanks for the support though! Jimmy
Update time ...I've missed a few updates but here they are for those of you who are interested! Day 8 (Monday): Body Weight Workout Day 9 (Tuesday): HIIT - sprinting Day 10 (Wednesday - Today): Body Weight Workout - I have increased the amount of circuits I can do as well... woot! I've been using an Excel spreadsheet to track my workouts/progress. I'm not sure how everyone else tracks their workouts but I thought I'd share a screen shot of my spreadsheet to give you an idea of how I do... I'm quite meticulous with most things due to my OCD so when I started getting fit, I quickly setup this template. Nothing flash - just helps me keep track (Red indicates days that a workout has not been completed - Green indicates days that a workout has been completed. This was taken on Sunday so I am in fact up to date with workouts, it's just not shown in this screenshot). As for the paleo and the smoking, I'm 100% on track! I'm used to the paleo lifestyle completely now - My body is no longer craving the pastries and the chocolate and the cakes - I can look at all of it and it does not bother me at all. I've developed a meal plan as well to ensure I'm getting the right amount of everything I need and to make it easier in prepreparing meals. Anyways that's it for now... Cheers for following this Rookie Rebel on his adventure so far, Jimmy. WildColonialGrrl
Glad to see the cravings go away with paleo eating. I will give it a proper go soon, maybe next challenge, but it is great to see how others are going through the process.Nice paddle there for a work out! If you got 5km in I'm assuming you were up the city end. I am hoping to get a paddle in at Lake Eppalock on Sunday.Keep up the good work! If you got 5km in I'm assuming you were up the city end. I am hoping to get a paddle in at Lake Eppalock on Sunday.Keep up the good work! Yes definitely do! I made it easy and threw out most of the non paleo stuff in the cupboards and moved the rest over to a seperate cupboard for the others in my house who are non-paleo eaters. It made it so much easier! I also printed out big signs the first week and slapped them on the fridge and the pantry The fridge one said NO SODA, NO DAIRY on it and the pantry one said NO GRAINS, NO SUGAR ...That really helped because I saw them everytime I went there. As for the cravings - the idea is to make your paleo food taste good. If it tastes good, then you shouldn't be craving anything else. Building on that, you should be more hungry because you cut out all the sugar and stuff in your meal which means you can eat bigger portions of better food. Once you up the portions of the better food, you'll fill up on that, no longer be hungry and have no desire to snack on unhealthy things. I think snacking is where people come undone - it's so much easier opening a bag of chips than cooking veges or meat - or even cutting up celery (although it's easy - it's not as easy as poppin a bag of crisps) I snack on veges now Or I just cook up a steak or chicken fillet. As for the paddle, I started up in Fairfield at the canoe club and paddled down to the Kew Boat House which was 5km and then back again. Lake Eppalock - that's a fair way out isn't it? You out that way or just go up there for paddling? Thanks for keeping up with my challenge WCG Lvl 1 Human Ranger STR 1 | DEX 1 | STA 2 | CON 5 | WIS 3 | CHA 3Current Challenge: Jimmy's First Challenge We are what we repeatedly do. WildColonialGrrl
I suspect my cravings for sugar and fatty carbs are emotional... Am even finding that in my challenge now with milky tea when I am being a big sook!I left my hunk of plastic (sit on top kayak) up there after an Easter get away at my cousins van. They will be there this weekend so I'll go bring it home. I live further upstream where it gets rocky near Westerfolds park. I sometimes paddle from the inside of the bend past Studley Boat house though. Not often enough... Which is why I have a hunk of plastic. It's great exercise for the upper body though. hearthsinger
Good move on moving the food. We can't expect the other people in our life to follow suit with our eating choices, but we can make it easier on ourselves a lot of time by just separating out our stuff so we don't have to dig through all the temptations every time we're making a meal. Either way I reckon if you fill your tummy enough with steak and veggies - the last thing you'll be craving is more food (sugary or not)... that's how I do it anyway Having said that, I'm a 54kg, 20 year old male so my metabolism may be a bit different too No idea where Westerfolds Park is - is that Northern Vic? How far out from the CBD? And yeah that is true!
