Elastigirl: The Next Mission

Forgot to mention, the flexibility module is as long or short as you want to make it. There's a list of stretches to go through, which are the same as the cool down from the workout days. So I would do warm up, rolling, and stretch in 25-30 min. I might roll longer if I really felt I needed it.

Great, that sounds very doable.

Yeah, the only thing with Somatics is it works for SMA...which while either the root or a side effect of many types of muscular and postural pain, isn't the root of all of them. Depends what your particular damage is! It is great for fixing all the crap we do sitting at the computer, that's for sure!

I figured with my shoulder it was more a case of overdoing it, however my shoulder is a weak spot anyway because of sitting at the computer. So, I figured getting those spots unkinked should help the rest to heal.

As for GMB, just check out me and Mily's thread to get some idea of what we were doing! http://nerdfitnessrebellion.com/index.php?/topic/25659-milythael-kibcy-conquer-gmb-f1/

It'll give you some sense of what's going on and how we were feeling about it ;)

You don't need an hour to get a workout in actually. We've done them with just having 30 min.

Yes your progress will be slower then.

Good job on recognizing when to stop in regards to your shoulder.

Food remains tough in my experience.

I think experimenting and learning what works for you is the best way :)

So if you need almond butter, go for it.

I usually stick to eggs or yoghurt (as I do eat diary), so yeah, whatever works!

Thanks for writing it out for me. That really helps me to figure it out. So Saturday is set up to be flexibility which is shorter. I could do 30 minutes on Saturday. And especially at the beginning, when it takes longer (the 80 minute ones) I could break it up and do some in the evening.  Rest periods, I'm so bad on those, have way too short an attention span.Really need to figure out something to do-not the internet-cause that sucks me in.

You could definitely split the Monday workout. You could do the holds in the morning, and the conditioning work (2 exercises) in the evening.

Phase 2 is 6 days of actual workouts.

M = Jumping skills

T = Rolling skills

W = Transitions, holds, hollow body work

Repeat.

Phase 3 is 6 workouts.

M = Part A of flow, strength and conditioning

T = Part B of flow, handstand transition work

W = Part C of flow, strength/conditioning

Phase 4 is 3 days of workouts. Each day you practice 2 parts of the flow, and do some strength/conditioning work after. This is 13 weeks of programming.

Geocaching is always a blast. Hope you guys get some nice weather for it!

Thanks.The weather is supposed to be semi-ok. No rain, but probably not sunny.Because it is a weekend after all. And Seattle and sunny weekend rarely happen :)

Wow, I didn't even know what geocaching was- but just watched a couple quick video's. That seems like a LOT of fun!! Hope you have a very good mother's day :)

Geocaching is super fun. A super fun excuse to go for a hike and use gadgets.

Thanks. On the food thing, I can't eat dairy,so my food choices are limited. Taking out almond butter seemed to be stressing me out and I hadn't leaned out any. I need to re-look at the thread of your and Mily's, I had read it before, but not  while I was considering doing it

Thanks. This just looks fun. And doing the different phases should mix it up enough to keep it new.

Sorry, I meant to say phase 4 is 6 days, repeating 3 workouts. It is a lot of fun. :)

I don't know... This sounds like something a crazy person would do. I'll have to look into it...

ha,ha, I'm not sure if you are referring to geocaching or GMB, but either one yes you should look into it.

Happy Mother's Day:)

Thanks

Where in Seattle are you? I lived in Fremont and Wallingford for a few years...

We actually live in the suburbs on the Eastside. But we are going caching in Seattle's Discovery Park.

I worked in Bellevue for four years, I understand! If you ever decide to get some hands on KB instruction, I really liked what I saw of Andrea U-Shi Chang when she was teaching at a gym I used to lift at. She's a senior SFG/RKC. Also the best Chiropractor I EVER had is in Bellevue if you ever need one...

Good info.Thanks. When I have money I'd love to have some KB instruction, so I'll keep that in mind.

Looking great!! I hate when I end up being away from a thread for a few days but its always wonderful when I come back and find so much awesome progress :D

I'm sometimes unsure of whether to work out or not when my muscles are sore. Where is the line between no excuses and pushing yourself too hard? Today, I went with caution, because it was a known weak spot in my shoulder that I have injured before, I think it was a good call. Sometimes just taking an extra day of rest is all that is needed.

I too have problems with this. But it was probably a good call :D

Posting my happy thoughts;

Saturday we are doing my Mother's Day. My son is coming over and we are going geocaching. And my husband ordered me a gluten free chocolate cake. Life is  good :smile-new:

Yay for gluten free chocolate cake!! My business partner is gluten free and one of our favorite bakeries makes amazing gluten free brownies that we split on occasion. :D

Food goal: Kinda feeling boxed in with this one and not liking my goals I set out. I'm doing great on not eating after dinner-this is a good habit that keeps me from just snacking for something to do. I'm also sleeping better. Sweets are good, haven't had any, saving that for this weekend. But I've used up most of my points on almond butter, and I'm deciding I don't care. I wanted to cut back on those, because , well it is spring, and looking a little leaner would be nice.  But, if I'm not having protein powder after I work out, I like almond butter. Im hungry but eating meat right after I work out seems so unappealing So, that part of the goal has taught me that I really just do better with either the powder or almond butter. I can measure and keep it to one serving, but I don't think I want to cut it. Learned some things on this part of the goal anyway.

I think what you learned is super super important!! And almond butter is awesome :D I know I feel better on days when I eat nuts so I just have to make sure to use portion control (otherwise I eat an absurd amount of calories) So your plan to measure and keep it to a serving sounds wonderful :)

We walked into the bakery to get the cake and the whole bakery is gluten-free vegan. The whole entire case was filled with stuff I call could eat!!! I just stared at it in wonder. And I may have drooled a bit :redface-new: I want to go back and get some brownies (oh brownies how I have missed you!) I've pretty much just avoided eating even gluten free baked goods, but it would be a nice treat on occasion

Friday I did my play workout. I messed around with a bunch of pistol progressions, with the video's from Lex's thread. Then did some negative pistols, and then for good measure a couple of actual pistols. I also did crow to headstand to crow. And then - (woot!) I was able to do the tripod extension with both legs!

Saturday: Did my KB workout and also went geocaching. The park is right on Puget Sound, and it was a gorgeous sunny day. We also had a picnic in the park with lettuce wrapped sandwiches and carrot sticks. To finish off the great day, we stopped off to pick up my gluten free chocolate cake with chocolate frosting-nom nom!

Friday

5 circuit : ladder 1-2-3 Clean and press 20 lb/push up/renegade rows

7 minutes swing 130 reps

This is the tripod extension I did with both legs and the progressions:

The bakery that we go to has about 1/2 gluten free stuff. And they also get most of their food locally including all grass fed animals. Its amazing! I can definitely see why you were drooling ;)

And I love the pics, especially the one of you and your son!! It seems like you had a really great mother's day :D
