Challenge time again. I'm not going to disappear this time, like I did in the middle of my last challenge.

Goals:

  • Routinely Scheduled Maintenance: ( +2.75 Con, +1 Wis )
    • Call my back specialist and find out what X-rays need to be sent to them, and do so.
    • Schedule my yearly physical
    • Schedule an appointment with my Optometrist
    • Schedule an appointment with my Dentist
  • Cover the Thermal Exhaust Port ( +1 Wis, +1 Cha, +1.75 Con )
    • Rebel Torpedoes go in, smoke comes out; It's bad for the Death Star. The only big difference is that the torpedo delivery method in my case isn't X-Wings, it's cigarettes. I'm down to ~1/2 a pack or less (a day), so it's time to just stop it all together. 10+ year habit, I'm going to need some Batman-level willpower.
  • Enagage Genetic Learning Algorithm ( +1 Str, +1 Dex, +1 Sta )
    • 3-week 'Grease the Groove' for Hollow-Body Hold.
    • 3-week GTG for pull-ups. (starting after I've completed the hollow-body GTG)
  • EXTERMINATE! Exercise ( +2.5 Str, +1 Dex, +1 Sta )
    • Exercise 18 times throughout the challenge
    • Current workout plan:
      • Warm-up:
        • 2x10 Body-weight lunge
        • 2-Minutes Jump-Rope
        • 85 Jumping Jacks (+5 per week until I hit 100)
      • Workout
        • 1-min Hollow-Body (as many reps as necessary until I accumulate 1 minute) - 2nd half of challenge only
        • 1-min Foot-supported L-Sit( as many reps as necessary )
        • 3x8 Shrimp Squats
        • 3x8 Push-ups (moving into Diamond Push-ups )
        • 3x8 Inverted Ring-Rows
      • Post-Workout Stretching.

Smoking is gonna be tough, but I have faith that you can do it!  Remember to check in and ask for help when you need it!  Anyone to support you with your goals IRL?

Primarily my wife, who is very supportive of all my fitness / diet goals. She's also a smoker, so it's a little harder to quit without getting her on-board, but I've decided to just forge on and try to be an example, instead of waiting.

I'm hoping it'll be similar to quitting soda, although I had a good replacement in coffee. I just need to find something to replace my smokes. I'm thinking brownies.

Heh. I can't afford to lose 20lbs. I'm trying to bulk. I've been ~135 my entire adult life.

Now that I have a handy spreadsheet tracking calories / protein, I can try to figure out what I need to adjust to try to put on some weight. I'm shooting for 2500 calories, but that just seems like so much food.

Woohoo, nice challenge goals! I love your robot setup. And the idea that Daleks need optometrists. Love the quitting smoking goal - maybe instead of brownies, beef jerky? Good protein, requires chewing, is more easily stored in pockets than brownies... :)

That's a good idea! Jerky is delicious.

I tracked my calories yesterday, for what seemed to be a pretty normal day, and the grand total was 1366. WTF.

So either that's a 'normal' day for me and completely explains why I never gain weight, or else I just chose a super-low calorie day to start tracking.

Regardless, I'm notorious for skipping breakfast, so today I'm starting with a bottle of OJ (220 calories right there) and am being very thoughtful of what's going into my body today. I used to make breakfast at work, so I should start up that again.

I forgot that I was doing GTG and only did 1 5-sec hold yesterday.

I started off right, with 1 pull-up and a 5-sec hold this morning though.

Damn you and your bulking.  I'm cutting TO 135 lb. or thereabouts.  Don't really want to be a 135 lb. adult male, BUT I do want to hit single digit body fat before I start bulking... Ultimate goal is to end up around 140-145 lb. with single digit bodyfat.  Seems a looooong way off at this point, though!

I also don't want to be a 135lb adult male and up somewhere between 140-150. :)

135 is one of those weird weights where it looks great on you the closer to 5-feet your height is, and looks less good the closer you get to 6-feet. At 6'1", I look rather sad.

At this point, I'm not too worried about my body fat % before I start bulking, as I just want to bulk up.

So this week is studying my eating habits and figuring out the best way to stuff my face full of win. Right now it appears to be PB+Honey. I love that stuff.

First workout of the challenge!

Warm-up:

  • Jump Rope - 2 minutes
  • Lunges - 2x10
  • Jumping Jacks - 85
  • Foot Supported L-Sits (20s, 15s, 15s, 10s) - The middle 2 were with 1 leg up each.
  • Shrimp Squats - 8x3
  • Push-Ups - 8x3
  • Body Weight Ring Row - 8x2, 5x1
Then through-out the day I've been GTG Pull-ups (4x1) and Hollow body Position (4x5sec)

Stupid Ring Rows. I can always do 8 on the first set. I always tell myself "don't go to failure on the 2nd set", and today I got to 7 comfortably, and said "we can do 8", and as a result, was only able to hit 5 ( I really had to work for the 5th one ) on the last set.

I like the GTG setup I have. It literally takes less than 30 seconds to do a pull-up then drop down and do a hollow-body hold.

Time to go make dinner. My tracker said I'm only at 800 calories for the day so far, so I'll see what I can brew up. I wonder if I can put Peanut Butter in my pasta.

Took some measurements. and a picture!

I won't bore you with the full list, but the google spreadsheet is here: http://bit.ly/111pSKo

The pic was taken in January, but I haven't really changed much (as I took 6 weeks off from doing anything fitness related)

This is also step 1 of my secret goal: quit being self-conscious of my back ( or as my specialist's assistant called it, my deformity. English wasn't his first language ). No, I'm not standing like I'm being sassy, I have scoliosis.

Also, added my MFP food diary to my sig

Today was pretty successful on the food front.

I had ~1700 calories, which is closer to my 2000+ target, and a whole lot better than the 1300 on Monday.

I normally don't have breakfast, but yesterday it was a bottle of OJ, and today it is OJ + Banana. (they sell them at work for 25 cents)

According to MFP that's 320 calories. That feels like cheating.

I remembered to GTG before work today, so maybe I'm getting into the 4x a day habit.

Yay for a good day! Nice job on getting your calories in - and definitely don't beat yourself up over the soda - it may not be "good for you", but it helped you hit your calorie goal for the day, which is a win.

Good luck this challenge! I have scoliosis too but it isn't very obvious, way to go to post that picture. What you can't change you can't change but it's awesome you're trying to improve what you can actually change.

Keep it up with the calories (reminds me: I should really start tracking...)!

Thanks! I'm super-happy that I managed to break 2k without the soda. I used to drink multiple bottles of soda a day, and since i joined NF I'm down to only one or two soda a week.

Thanks. Pretty much all through-out my 20's I hated the way my torso looked due to it. I always wore baggy clothes, etc to try to ignore it. Now that I'm more comfortable with it I actually wear clothes that fit, and it's awesome.

Tracking my input has really helped me realize how much I had to focus on my calories in order to (hopefully) bulk.

I'm still going well on the GTG, and my ring rows are feeling better. My push-ups make me feel great, and if I breeze through them this weekend like I did today, I'm going to move on to diamond push-ups!

I'm on track for 1900+ calories today, my wife is making french toast and bacon for dinner!

How was everyone's weekend?
Mine was pretty good, with bits of 'meh'.

Started out sat morning with my first http://recordstoreday.com/Home'>Record Store Day. It's also probably my last RSD.

I spent the better part of month getting really excited for this, only to find out that it's actually impossible to get any the LPs that you actually want.

I'm a listener, not a collector, dammit!

We had one of our 2 goldfish die on sunday. That was a little sad. We've had them for about a year and a half, so no clue what actually happened.

I didn't work out yesterday. I just wasn't feeling it. The weather's been fluctuation between 50F+ and snowing, so that tends to keep me down a little bit.

On the plus side, after 1 week of tracking my intake, I found the major hole in my diet: I don't pay any attention to what I eat on the weekends.

But I did get a closed beta key for Marvel Heroes, and played that a bit yesterday. It's Diablo 2 with Marvel Characters. Do you like both of those? Then this game is for you!
