Hey folks - this is my second attempt at doing a challenge. Accountability will be key for me to succeed, so here goes!

 

Monday, April 15

Sleep - 6:59 hours in bed 76% sleep quality (as per the Sleep Cycle app - this refers to the previous night)

Exercise - did the Insanity Fit Test (Week 1 Monday) and got dismal results, worse than when I did the Fit Test last year. Can only improve from here!

Nutrition - made all my own food.. bacon & eggs for breakfast.. ham & swiss cheese sammich for lunch.. trail mix for snack.. crackers & peanut butter for supper

 

Tuesday, April 16

Sleep - 6:59 hours in bed 61% sleep quality

Exercise - woke up with a wicked stomach bug (probably passed on from my son who had it the week prior). Was so bad I had to stay home from work, which is quite rare for me. Played Journey and Walking Dead (Telltale Games) for the first time on PS3 to pass the time - both are excellent.

Nutrition - made all my own food.. mainly crackers and OJ

 

Wednesday, April 17

Sleep - 7:08 hours in bed 74% sleep quality

Exercise - Went in to work but stomach still acting up so didn't want to chance any exercise. Read Guy Delisle's Pyongyang, which is really, really good.

Nutrition - Cheated today.. baked chips for lunch and cheeseburger for supper

 

Thursday, April 18

Sleep - 6:54 hours in bed 64% sleep quality

Exercise - Unfortunately woke up too late to do Insanity

Nutrition - Once again I cheated by having chicken fried rice for lunch. I'll chalk these last three days up to the stomach bug and just move on starting tomorrow.. hot dogs for supper

Friday, April 19

Sleep - 5:52 hours in bed 67% sleep quality

Exercise - Did Insanity - Pure Cardio (Week 1 Friday). My 9-year-old even joined in near the end, which was fantastic. Got my heart pumping and the pores sweating. Look forward to gradually adding more endurance to my workouts over time.

Nutrition - eggs for breakfast.. San Marino mix and tuna for lunch.. I was so tempted to go out to a restaurant for comfort food tonight but I resisted and had corn & rice at home!

Breakfast: leftover pork chops with monastery-made apple sauce

Lunch: sashimi (red tuna/salmon), lettuce, carrots

Snacks: coffee, tea, almonds, fruit

Supper: pot roast and green beans, watermelon

2013-07-19 Whole30 Day 3/30

 

Breakfast: eggs with Italian seasoning, orange juice, tea

Lunch: sashimi (red tuna/salmon), carrots, lettuce, fruit salad

Snacks: Coffee, tea, almonds

Supper: Atlantic salmon w/sesame seeds, lemon & oregano, pear halves, tea

 

I used a cooking spray on my Foreman Grill so that the salmon scales wouldn't stick to it. I rapidly glanced at the ingredients beforehand but it didn't click to me that soy lecithin and "natural flavour (contains milk) should have made me avoid it. I'll look for an alternative or only use it on the scale side of the salmon in the future

2013-07-22 Whole30 Day 6/30

 

Breakfast: orange juice, cashews

Lunch: sashimi (red tuna/salmon), carrots, salad, fruit, Perrier

Snacks: cashews, tea

Supper: almonds

 

I realized that the cashews I've been having contain "peanut oil and/or soybean oil", so I'm dropping them for the rest of the Whole30. Supermarkets are just so untrustworthy with this stuff.. sucralose in canned fruit and soy nonsense everywhere..
