ARock10's Still Fighting It Battle Log

Also, visited my 94 year old grandmother last week and saw firsthand what can happen if you do not use what you have.  The muscles and the movement go away.  She is practically bedridden and can't even turn over in her bed by herself.

It seems like exercise and diet are the key to making me more confident.

I have very sad news to share... my most special grandmother passed away early Sunday morning at 95 years old.  She had been sick for a week.  I flew to Louisiana on Saturday morning and spent all day with her and family.  We had the funeral on Tuesday.  She was an incredible woman for many reasons: she raised 9 children after her husband (my grandfather) passed away at 46 years old, outlived him by 50 years, smoked cigarettes and drank highballs to about 90, and spoke her own mind.  I mentioned her at the start of my battle log because she didn't move around much or exercise and lost a lot of mobility in old age.  My goal is to stay active for as long as possible and to of course honor her memory.

Sounds like you are getting in some nice day trips on Saturdays! Good for you!

All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity:

but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.

~T. E. Lawrence

When we contemplate the whole globe as one great dewdrop, striped and dotted with continents and islands,

flying through space with other stars all singing and shining together as one, the whole universe appears as an infinite storm of beauty.

Yes, I hooked up with a very active meetup group that's been keeping me busy on the weekends.  I'm missing the backpacking trip this weekend and next weekend so I can see some of my non-hiking friends.
