signalguy
Ran my first marathon in Toronto this weekend. Had a great time even though my last 8 miles were a real struggle. 4:22 finish and I'm looking to cut that time by a wide margin on my next one. signalguy
Connect is awesome. Especially since I have a footpod as well so I'm getting speed, maps, heartrate and # of footfalls per minute. Quote Daily Mile My BJJ Life Link to comment
Morrigainz
I've been having a lot of trouble with mine. For some reason the training center doesn't auto load anymore when I plug my Garmin in, and in order to post my runs to Runkeeper, I have to export the workout file and then use that *rolls eyes*. So. This looks like fun I love my footpod! Quote Level ? Half-Dwarf/Half-Amazon Warrior STR:21.25 STA:15 DEX: 10.95 CON: 14 WIS:15.5 CHA:17 SWOLE BUCKS: 1 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Link to comment

signalguy
It was a bit of a rollercoaster ride. Hit my half marathon split 15 seconds ahead of the two hour mark and everything felt good. It was getting warm (65-70F) and the downhills started hammering my legs so I was starting to cramp around mile 16. Never had a cramp in my quads, so it was a new and interesting pain. By miles 18-20, the cramps got worse and I had to start a run/walk pattern. Mile 20 was the wall. My left quad cramped as my right ankle seized up. I almost fell over and I was 100% sure my run was over. I slowly forced myself to run a few minutes until my calves cramped and took a little walk break. I watched my 4:00 marathon fall apart but I was still 8 minutes ahead of my splits for 4:15. Those minutes slipped away too ask the last 5k came around. I finally forced myself into running every 2 light poles and walking one. It was a hard last 6 miles, but I finished in 4:22 with an average pace of 9:56. Quote Daily Mile My BJJ Life Link to comment
ReverbPaul
Nice! My aunt does this kind of thing too, and I've often thought I should do it (but I'm nowhere near that yet). So cool, even if you did cramp up a little. But then again, that just means you know you're pushing yourself to improve, and that's never a bad thing! How long have you been running? Any suggestions for somebody who hasn't gotten started yet? Quote Level 1 Githzerai AdventurerSTR 1 | DEX 5 | STA 2 | CON 1 | WIS 3 | CHA 3Challenge 2Challenge 1 Link to comment
marionette
Awesome job! Maybe one day I'll get to a marathon. I definitely understand the walk/run/use light poles as markers mindset. It has helped me get a lot of distance under my sneakers! Raikas
Nice work! I was designated driver for my running group (so I wasn't running myself this year), but I was down along Lakeshore (near New Brunswick Ave) watching the last km and it was full sun even an hour earlier. It was just over 2 years from my first 5k to my first marathon. Lots and lots of shorter races before I moved into half marathons last year. It's a great journey. ReverbPaul
As luck would have it I did download the C25K app a while back. Maybe I'll make that a goal during the next 6-week challenge. UH60guy
Congrats on the finish! Best of luck with the recovery. Just be sure you have another dragon out there to slay. I fell into the complacency trap myself- ran my first marathon in March, and staying motivated to keep up the level of training has been a real challenge since my next one isn't until the Marine Corps Marathon in October. It's been too easy to skip planned runs without a goal in sight to train towards, I hope you'll have a little more willpower than I did. signalguy
I'm surrounded by dragons! We're running 6 Rock n Roll halves throughout the year plus a 50k (13 weeks out) and a 100k (23 weeks out). I'm already on my feet and running slowly. Feel pretty good but the runs hurt a bit more than they should. Quote Daily Mile My BJJ Life Link to comment

signalguy
I'll always side with undertrained vs overtrained so I take off when I need it. I'm mostly looking to push the distance instead of speed for these runs, so hopefully the lower intensity will help Quote Daily Mile My BJJ Life Link to comment
