Your personal Battle Theme Song

When I made my 5k running mix aftr my time averaged out to 28 minutes pretty consistently, I made it so I Fink You Freeky was the entire last stretch, following Enter The Ninja.

Also, YAY FIONNA AND CAKE

The cancer was aggressive, but the chemotherapy was aggressive, as well.

There was aggression on both sides.

oh, that's the best way to end a 5k for sure. congrats on doing that by the way, super impressive.

haha "Enter the Ninja" is another one of my favorites, but i could go on and on about Die Antwoord and i thought it best to quit while i was ahead...

on a somewhat related note, i'm hoping to have visible results from my workout routine by October so that i can convincingly dress up as Yo-Landi Vi$$er for Halloween. [easy costume, right? high top sneakers, shiny skin-tight gold pants, and a cut up t-shirt that says "ZEF 4 LIFE" in sharpie] although right now i more closely resemble Fionna. girl's got hips! [which is awesome for a girl on TV, so good for her.   :)   ]

And "RICH BITCH" on the back of your pants... that's a heck of a costume goal to shoot for! Good on yer.

I never really thought 28 minutes was that good of a time.  I know a lot of runners and athletes, and they're all 20 minute people (grrr).  But I'm 6'4" and I made most of those runs at around 260 lbs, so the people that actually knew me were telling the truth.  I can't get below 27 to save my life, but I've still got a lot of weight to lose.

I keep wanting to go as something for Hallowe'en... I'll still probably be chunky this year, but less chunky than I have been for the last decade, so I need to find something appropriate.

Oh, another theme song recently entered my mix, since it is the EXACT length of my all-time best time biking to work (and is therefore my pace-keeping song).  it is very much a love it or hate it song... most of my friends say it causes them to pray for death.  Philistines.

man, the fact that you did that run at all is amazing to me. i know that right now, i don't have the will power to do anything like that. i've never run more than two miles in one go, and that's pushing my luck!

btw's i just listened to that song straight through. some seriously good shit. i actually got kind of used to it playing [it's so long!] and was sad when it ended! i'm not sure what your friends are thinking, but they've all gotta be crazy. dude was making sweet, sweet love to his guitar the whole time. so awesome.

here's another gem i just rediscovered recently. good for getting in the zone. and it kicks the original's ass, in my opinion...

Dragonforce - Through the fire and the flames

Come to think of it any songs of Dragonforce see me through a battle with weights or high intensity run!

Another one of my favourites is Skrillex ft The Doors - Breakn' A Sweat (Zedd remix)

Some awesome and surprising songs listed here (haven't read all, but enough!)

Firstly, please spare any outrageous judgement on my music tastes. This isn't a "my music is better than yours" contest This is simply a list of tunes that get me through.

I'm still working on my list, I enjoy a vast array of music so it's a bit of an eclectic mash-up.

For Cardio I usually choose Electronic based music. Primarily for it's sustained high BPM. Admittedly a lot of the lyrics are totally incomprehensible but when some of these beats are blasting through your brain you care little for the subject matter:

Grendel - Harsh Generation

Grendel - Soilbleed V3

Psyborg Corp - Technocracy

Psyborg Corp - Starbeam Antarctica

Woodkid - Run Boy Run

Sonic Syndicate - Jack of Diamonds

Juno Reactor - Conga Fury

Heimataerde - Dark Dance

SAM - Murder Inc.

T3RR0R 3RR0R - In My Dreams

VNV Nation - Nemesis

In particular, the first four are quite good for short high intensity bursts. Soilbleed V3 in particular has samples of the Drill Sergeant from Full Metal Jacket. A man who, to this day, still scares the shit out of me! XD

Over to weights. It sounds really cliche, but I tend to choose some kind of heavy rock/metal. Some of these have some really awesome hooks or breakdowns that help you squeeze out those last few reps.

American Head Charge - Violent Reaction

All That Remains - Not Alone

DevilDriver - The Mountain

Disturbed - The Animal

Godsmack - Straight Outta Line

In Flames - Ordinary Story

Lamb of God - Desolation

Machinae Supremacy - Action Girl (ignore the title, it's an awesome song lol)

Mudvayne - Determined

Scar Symmetry - The Illusionist

Soulfly - Fly High

Static-X - Push It

System of a Down - Violent Pornography

It's goodbye to the shortcuts, and hello to the grind.

Nobody ever said it would be an easy ride.

see, I need more reflective music when I work out, not so much just a heavy beat. I want to FEEL, and THINK.... and Castle of Glass reminds me of my dad.

My dad is the reason Metallica's King Nothing gets me pumped.
