Kibcy and the Valley of the Happies

Kibcy had finally arrived at the plains of peace and settled down. She closed her eyes for the night, it had been a long journey, but she was finally there.

Her dreams that night weren't peaceful though, but filled with images of a new land. Beyond these peaceful plains was a place even better. A broken sign on an abandoned road said "Valley of the Happies, 30 km South". Kibcy's dream promised it was a beautiful land filled with joy.

When she woke up Kibcy was filled with new determination. This young pup was going to show the world what she was capable of. She was going to make her pack proud and find this valley.

"Wrrrraf! Awoo Awoo." Kibcy shook out her coat annoyed. Still not able to sing with the other wolves. Inpatient was probably the best word to describe her frustration, but she just wanted to do it now, not later. The old wise one had reminded her time and time again that patience and persistence were the keys to unlocking her potential. Sure she knew, but still she wanted to keep up and run along side the big alpha Wolf, instead of always falling behind again. Her short stubby legs weren't getting her very far. "They will grow big and strong with time," they told her. Time should hurry along, she'd been waiting for too long. Of course they had reminded her that using them was key and she knew she hadn't used them as much as she should've. Skipping out of training to smell the flowers, sneaking off to chase a squirrel.

Fine then. She would change. She would use her short stubby legs as best as she could! It was time to take a whole other approach to this journey, this never ending road. It was time to enjoy the trip and have fun!

My focus for this challenge is to enjoy moving my body, to enjoy playing and using it.

A secondary focus is to enjoy food. IF and eating no more than 3 meals have me feeling super great! However, I need to stop guilt tripping and stop making everything so difficult. Food should be fun and should be enjoyed!

For this part of my challenge there's no pass/fail, only fun!

Thirdly I want to participate in the mini-challenges!

But I'm putting less focus on this, because of focus 1, I need to ENJOY myself!

And last but not least I signed up for the gym, so I need an attendance goal! My one true goal ;)

Go to the gym 1x week

+ 5 points divided between the areas progressed.

I like it! Keep it simple and succeed, right? I'm actually considering doing 3 goals instead of 4, partly because of you (don't worry, it'll be a good thing for me, so it's all positive influence you're having on me! ;))

At first I misread the topic as "Kibcy and the valley of hippies" that would be a completely different kind of valley.

Again love the simplicity of the challenge, it is important to enjoy the progress made, "Stop and smell the roses" as they say.

The first step out of the plains of peace was immediately a kick in the face. Kibcy realized that even though she had made it to the plains, it didn't mean she could slack off. Maintaining peace was just as important as achieving it for the first time. This meant she had to continue to mind her steps and be aware of all that was trying to throw her off the path she was walking.

Soooo little Kib went out on a little search...

I have so much COOL to do, but also hard core.

I finally read the AC workout articles and wrote them down... THEY BE SCARY!

Anyway, here's what I've been looking at in terms of play time! (progressions not included)

Level: EASY - PR Exercises

Monday = Squats

Tuesday = Push ups

Wednesday = Walking

Thursday = Pull ups

Friday = Cycling

Saturday = Plank

Sunday = Elliptical

Level: INTERMEDIATE - GMB F1

Monday = Balance

Tuesday = Strength

Wednesday = Flexibility

Thursday = Balance

Friday = Strength

Saturday = Flexibility

Sunday = Rest

Level: HARD - Living By the Creed

Monday = The Eagle Circuit

Tuesday = Fartlek Training

Wednesday = Strength-Endurance Workout

Thursday = Rest

Friday = Plyometric Power Circuit

Saturday = Speed and Agility

Sunday = Rest

I'll mix and match!

Tomorrow is Body Pump day... I'm dragging my feet for this, BECAUSE I'M SCARED.

I've done... classes before, but I always felt like a failure.

I was really excited to do this when I signed up and I happen to be able to do this tomorrow at 9am.

The excitement wore of and was replaced by fear.

I'm still going though! I'll let you guys know how it went and if I'll be doing it more often :)

Haha, I finally read through the AC workouts as well. Each one of those days was worthy of its own training cycle, lol.

 

Yeah they be super tough. But they also sound super fun!

 

Great challenge, Kibcy!  I need to work on enjoying myself more.  It's easy to get caught up in the "go go goooooo" mentality.

GUYS! okay stop, we can stop. I died. A few times over in fact.

SO APPARENTLY IT WASN'T JUST BODY PUMP!!! It was a combo lesson!!! AND I DIED!!!!

First was half an hour of spinning... and I died... continuously.

Then half an hour of body pump.

At the end of spinning I was like... wow... and NOW I HAVE TO STAND THERE AND LIFT A BUNCH OF WEIGHT?!

Fortunately we started lying on a step box (yes... I can't even...) and doing bench presses......... for your triceps.... I didn't quite understood that one...

I was working a barbell with like 5 kg of weight on it... and nearly killed myself...

They were interesting weights, because they were like... water weights?! IDK.

And we did a bunch of shoulder stuff. I must say I was surprised by how my shoulder was handling it (not too shabby!)

I had 1 kg in each hand... so that PROBABLY had something to do with it... it was still bloody heavy.

After that I used a barbell with just 2 kg on it, because I was struggling with that 5 kg.

There was variety between control and doing things slow and doing things quicker. It was interesting...

I got a workout I wouldn't otherwise get! There were a bunch of interesting ab exercises as well. No crunches or whatevs in the way that they are normally done? More work that could be considered hollow body hold work without the hold :tongue:

And we did push ups... I couldn't. But it was okay to do half-knee-push-ups. Yup.

So I died... and everything was awful. BUT IT WAS ALSO A LOT OF FUN!!!!

Surprisingly (or maybe not), there was only 1 guy. And the rest women. And then not like OMG THOSE WORKOUT... noooo older women when in passing on the street you wouldn't think they could do the shit that we did.

The teacher (also a woman), was super nice and motivating!

She also came over to give me extra instructions/directions and kept asking how I was doing... as oppose to... leaving me to figure shit out for myself.

It's like we're gonna do this (but I realize that's above where you stand right now), but you can do this.

So I felt really included and yeah. I'll be there next week :D

Gym attendance 1/7 completed :tongue: (because hey the challenge hasn't really started yet)
