chickie.monkey
PrologueI went back and forth as to which guild to train with for this challenge. Since this is only my second challenge, and I’m still a super noob to real strength training, I wasn’t sure if I should stay with the Adventurers or move on to the Rangers. I did, however, decide to go with the Rangers because I really wanted to hang with people that were experienced and that could help me out if I had questions/give me suggestions on how to improve my game (hint, hint) Now, on with the challenge! Goal 1 - Lift it!Strength training 2 times a week. Basic plan is as follows, working toward 5RM. (please feel free to add input) Workout 1:Squats 3x5Bench Press 3x5Dumbbell Row 3x5 Workout 2:Deadlifts 3x5Press 3x5Curl 3x5 Grading:11 – 12 = A9 – 10 = B7 – 8 = C< 6 = F +2 STR +2 CON Goal 2 – Move it!Some sort of moving my behind 3 times a week for at least 30 min. This can be swimming, walking, treadmill, bike, etc. The goal is to build up my endurance and shed some body fat so I can work toward my goal of running a 5k. Grading:15 -18 moves = A12 - 15 moves = B8 – 11 moves = C5 -7 moves = D< 5 moves = F +2 DEX +2 STA +2 CHA Goal 3 – Eat it!Eat mostly primal. I can have 10 PLANNED meals of my choosing over the course of the challenge. The key is they have to be planned. I can also have 3 frak it meals, meaning I don’t feel like cooking, I planned poorly, I had a bad day and I don’t have any fraks to give. The latter was my downfall last challenge, so perhaps I should try to be a bit easier on myself with the restrictions until I am used to having my meals planned and prepped. Grading:≤ 10 planned meals and/or ≤ 3 frak it meals = A> 10 planned meals and/or > 3 frak it meals = F +1 WIS +2 CHA Goal 4 – Save it!Save $500 for use at DragonCon (Eeee!) This means no buying random things on Amazon, eating out constantly (which should be helped by goal 3), and buying only what I NEED at the grocery store (not what I think I’ll need or what I think I’ll eat) Grading:$500 = A$400 = B$300 = C$250 = D<$250 = F +2 WIS Dreaded MeasurementsShoulders: 17Chest: 37 3/4Waist: 44Hips: 59Lt. Arm: 19Rt. Arm: 19Lt. Leg: 35Rt. Leg: 34 Weight: 265.5The Beast: 8.6 The Beast refers to my stomach. Yes, it has a name and it can be weighed on it's own! Last challenge it lost 2lbs! I thought I'd include it this challenge for the hell of it. ThunderingHerd
I am a total Newbie to the Nerd Fitness site, but have lifted weights for a while. Your 5x5 plan is a solid strength routine to follow. I like the simplicity of your goals...they make sense while still giving you a certain amount of freedom (the move it section). Good luck. Rangers lead the way........All the way. Link to comment

I'll be strength training 2 times a week. I'm aiming for Tues/Thurs, but my work schedule can be a bit wonky. Sometimes I might have to get them in whenever I can, even if it's one day and all the exercises. chickie.monkey
I've updated my starting stats. I was going to start with my finishing stats from last challenge, but it seems I've lost a couple more pounds. Last week I messed up my back (walking, who does that?) and it's still not 100%. I'm probably going to have to skip the deadlifts this week. Hopefully I'll be able to pick them back up next week. Until then, there will be lots of ice, stretching, and being super careful. Oh, and let's not forget the Tiger Balm. Tiger Balm will save the world! Beckles
Eating primally on the nights when you're feeling tired and lazy is tough. I'm still trying to come up with something quick I can fall back on besides bacon and eggs when I don't want to cook dinner. There are some nights when I miss the days of having cereal in the house at all times. Link to comment

Paisley
Glad to hear that the puppy is pooped, must have been a good walk. If you did have to use a planned meal, at least you got to catch up with an old friend, that's definitely worth something. Keep going strong. Nicks_Scotland
Hey chickie! Good going on the mostly primal, I failed like a chocolate teapot yesterday. But today is another day and I'm gonna keep myself so busy I haven't got time to think about chocolate or ice cream!! Good job on losing a couple of extra pounds too, after the week between challenges, I'm too scared to step on the scales, I'm gonna leave it and just use last weeks weight as my starting point. I'm sure I can undo any increase fairly quickly! (hopefully!).
