Dorothy
Hey All, this is my first challenge and I'm excited to get started. I'm getting married in December but that is only one of my motivators to finally make the changes I have been wanting to for most of my life. I'm 28, 217 lbs and 5'6" Goals 1. Have at least a 500 calorie deficit everyday{CON +3}{CHA +2}A. EverydayB. 30-42 daysC. 21-30 daysD. 10-20 daysF. Less than 10 days 2. Walk an average of 11,000 Steps per day {STA +3}{DEX +1}{STR +1}A. Average 11,000 or moreB. 8,250 - 11,000C. 5,500 - 8,250D. 2,750 - 5,500F. Less than 2,750 average 3. Do the Beginner Body Weight Workout 3 times a week{STR +2}A. 18 times or moreB. 13 - 18 timesC. 9 - 13 timesD. 4 - 9 timesF. Less than 4 times 4. Wake up early at least 5 days a week. Meaning 6am on weekdays and 8am on weekends. (This will the hardest goal for me) {WIS +2}{CON +1}A. 30 - 42 daysB. 22 - 30 daysC. 15 - 22 daysD. 7 - 15 daysF. Less than 7 days Plan of Attack 1. Changed from a weight lose goal, because I want my goals to be things that are completely within my control. I will be basing my calories burnedoff of my FitBit and logging my food with MyFitnessPal. I'll be aiming for 500-1000 calorie deficit per day, so a 1-2 pound per week lose in a perfect world. 2. I'll get the average from my FitBit. This is a pretty steep increase from my current average, but I have a couple strategies to help me. I plan on parking in the back of my parking lot at work and walking to my car as many times as possible throughout the workday. Also on the days I wake up early I'll go for an early morning walk on the days I'm not doing the Body Weight Workout. The only way I see this being a big challenge is I have to do my walks in the morning or late evening especially when I take my dogs since I live in Chandler, AZ. 3. This is what I plan on doing three days of the weeks that I wake up early. If I don't manage to wake up early at least three days a week (I WILL!), I will complete this after my evening walk. By the end of the 6 weeks I'd like to be able to do it at least 2 3 times in a row. 4. Like I said, this will be the hardest goal for me. I have been slowly waking up later and later (benefit and detriment of being salary). I have been using my FitBit alarm which vibrates on my wrist and doesn't have a snooze button. I'm going to stick with that for a couple days and if I'm still not getting up I'll add an alarm across the room. Do you feel like the two fitness goals result in the first goal? AND YES to the early rising goal!!! MAN. Also, I love the BBW Workout. So great! Thank you! The two fitness goals, plus I use a FitBit to get an estimate of how many calories I burn in a day and I log my food using MyFitnessPal. I aim for about a 500-1000 calories deficit everyday. I had my calories as one of my goals, but decided to replace it with the Body Weight Workout, since I'm more used to counting calories. TankGrrl
Hi Dorothy, I'm not a fan of weight loss goals but you seem to have the action plan in place to back it up...so more power to ya. Just remember that you may end up gaining some muscle from the ABW which is going to make the scales lie to you. Try not to take it personally and keep on trucking and I'm sure you'll get the results you want.Good luck Level 10 - Ironborn sellsword Weight loss goal: 90kg --> 70kg Endurance goal: non-stop 5km Power goal: 10 full form pushups Find me: My Fitness Pal | Fitbit | Feb 16 challenge "I don't want to have a dozen sons. I thought about having a weight lose goal a bit before deciding to go for it since it's not completely in my control. I decided to go for it just because I'm pretty much just starting out so it should be a bit easier to lose. I probably wouldn't choose the goal again. It's also why I'm going to take measurements and pictures too, so I can see the progress even if I don't hit my goal. Go ahead and change it if you want to. No penalty! I also love the BBW which I used exclusively during my just-completed challenge. Goals look good (I'd agree with TankGrrl -- not a huge fan of specific weight loss goals but it seems like you've got a great plan of attack for it) and I can't wait to see your progress over the next six weeks! Dorothy
I didn't start off as strong as I would've liked. I woke up at 7:35 this morning, an improvement to the 7:50 I had been getting out of bed, but still not 6am. I had planned on going for a short walk than doing the BBW this morning, but morning me doesn't usually agree with night time me (two very different people) =) To make up for it I'll do the BBW this evening. orcwarrior
Good job! Fifteen minutes of progress! Remember, progress is the key - if you keep making fifteen minute gains, after a while you'll be there! Also, remember to make it easy - have all your workout clothes laid out right by the bed, set your alarm clock across the room, etc. Good luck! My wife does this and she has had good success at getting up and about earlier in the day. Dorothy, great goals. I am impressed at the plan of attack that you have created, know thw route to take to achieve each goal is probably the best tool you can have to achieving that goal. Take it from someone who has spent way too many times saying "I will complete X goal" and then not following through due to no reasonable plan of attack.
