katpower
I had a formal dinner yesterday so I decided to get experimental and do something other than my usual 5 minute crap I need to leave ten minutes ago makeup. I had so much fun trying to do a peacock inspired makeup so I thought I'd share the results. And a close up... With my eyes closed... JessOfAllTrades
Unfortunately I'm terrible at helping one get color back into their face. :/ blush is all I can think of to help make cheeks look less pale? Also eye primer for under your eyes if you look tired? Also, normally I think buzzfeed is silly, but I'm actually curious about a few of the beauty hacks listed here: http://www.buzzfeed.com/peggy/diy-beauty-hacks-every-girl-should-know Quote Storytelling Rebel | Blog | Twitter "“You've seen my descent, now watch my rising." ~ Rumi Link to comment
Mad Hatter
Hmm I'm not sure how to work that kind of magic without having a play. But basically the same rules apply as with any other makeup, you just have to be more careful with finding good complementing colours for your skin and be more subtle when applying the makeup. A good lightweight foundation (or BB cream as I learned from this thread) will help even out the skin tone and make it look more healthy. Make sure to not use a darker colour than your own though or you will look orange . You might have to shop around as not all brands have light enough makeup. I'd know, I'm the palest of the pale haha. If you have dark circles around your eyes and the foundation doesn't give you enough coverage you might want some concealer under your eyes. A bit of bronzer on your cheeks for glowiness with a dab of peachy or rosy blush for colour.. And a splash of lip colour, I'm thinking a shiny/glossy one so the lips won't look dry. Think healthy normal lip colour. Nothing bright. In fact I'd avoid any super colourful eyes or lips. And make sure the skin is really moisturised! Also thanks for the compliments guys! humanperson832
Easy, baby girl. Little cream blush. Blend well with fingers. Little powder bronzer with a HUGE brush and tapping the extra powder off the brush before applying. That's after a tinted moisturizer or BB cream and light powder. And, if you don't have time for anything else, don't underestimate the power of a good lip stain to brighten up your whole face. Revlon makes these fat lip crayon things called Just Bitten Balm Stains. I like the color Honey. Nice neutral, muted pink that is similar to the color of actual lips. Sometimes that alone can perk my face up. Quote Link to comment

spezzy
This thread scares me. my makeup bag contains mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow, and foundation. And my "every day" make up is just mascara and foundation. That's it. I put on anymore and I end up looking like this. The most complicated thing about my makeup is that i've figured out i actually need a different color foundation in the summer than in the winter. yes, ladies, it took me 28 years to figure that one out. 1 Quote Current Challenge - Instagram “There's only one rule that I know of, babies—God damn it, you've got to be kind.” Link to comment
I-Jo
BB cream- you- as noted just above- may need TWO. (GASP) yes you might. In your case you might even need 3 depending on how your skin acts up and what color it's deciding to be. It's okay. I hate myself and my wallet for loving Marc Jacobs new makeup line I got the mascara and a super shiny nail polish today. I've made friends at the MAC store and I"m getting ready to get a MAC pro- card. I feel your pain my friend. So, I've had time to get used to my contacts. Now that I don't usually have to wear glasses, any tips for false lashes and how to wear them without them looking fake? I'm eager to play with my eyes now that they aren't hidden away. Google Princess Farhanna and how to apply lashes- that will help you. I personally do NOT wear lashes during the day- only for special events. I love falsies- but they are to much to wear- and apply for regular day use. The thing about false lashes is they aren't desined to look- "subtle" really- they are designed to POP... yes there is a way to make them look more natural- but there is only so much "natural" you are going to get out of them- and in my not so humble opinion- when I buy lashes- the bigger and more fabulous the better- so they never look natural- I don't see what the point of buying/applying 'demure' lashes is. Just wack on some good mascara and go. But all that being said- PRACTICE. and DON"T RUSH. those are the two things that trip people up- they want them and they usually decide last minute and then panic. I'ts an angry process if you put yourself on a time line/event. I have gotten so upset I almost started crying- (shameful I know) but it's usually before an event and I was required to have them. Apply glue to back of hand- then apply to falsies. Wait. have a drink. Wait. Then apply with tweezers (or your fingers- I like tweezers) I also prefer starting on the outside and working in- some people start in the middle- some on the inside- you just have to play with it to find what works for you and what you are most comfortable with really. The only reason it's scary is because you don't know what you are doing. Once you kind of get some hand's on experience and learn the basic lifts - or in this case- application tips... you become more comfortable in that area. It's the EXACT same thing. you can dooooooooooooeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttttttttttttttttttttttttt Quote Link to comment
humanperson832
What Jo said. It took me practicing every single night for two weeks before I felt comfortable putting on false lashes. Just sit down a few minutes before you start getting ready for bed and try going through the process once. If you mess up, no big deal. Just try again the next night. You'll get it down in no time. Also, right before you start getting ready for bed is the best time to practice makeup-type things, since you're about to shower/wash your face anyway. No pressure. Just playing. I've actually toyed with the idea of doing makeup videos geared towards nerdy ladies. I think there's definitely an audience for that kind of thing. I just don't think I have the technical skill, makeup-wise, to pull that off. Someone else should really get on that, LOL. Quote Link to comment

I got Revlon Colorstay in Buff - apparently it's a decent dupe for MUFE HD stuff- I'm using it for my gig tonight- plus their photo finish translucent setting powder- I could have gone without the setting powder- I have NXC's setting powder- but I liked pressed powders over loose ones- so I just got it. Pretty happy with how my face looks now. I'm head over heals in love with my mac sculpt shape stuff- seriously- it's amazing- if you want to do ANY sort of contouring- skip buying blushes/bronzers- just get a real contouring product- holy cow it makes a WORLD of difference. humanperson832
Hashtag, that contouring powder though. I have olive skin, so aside from contouring, I have no need for bronzer. Which is great, because they've just been collecting dust. Jo, did you hear about that super limited edition Chanel contouring powder? It was from last holiday season and I'm reeeaaaally kicking myself for not getting it. Also, YES on the blog. Nouveau Cheap already does really well for herself, but you have a much more unique voice that I think folks would respond to. Acryllica, I have a suggestion for you. My lashes have three modes: every day (with just mascara), little more than every day, and WHABAM. I really only go for WHABAM when I'm going out dancing with ladyfrans. If my every day lashes simply won't do, my step above that (but before WHABAM) is the Demi-Wispies by Ardell. They're cheap and they're beautiful. Just be sure to stick them to your hand before putting them on for the first time, and run over the band with some black gel liner, otherwise they'll look weird. I guess you could just go back in with gel liner once they're on, but I prefer gluing them on and dashing out the door. (In case anyone's curious, these are my WHABAM lashes. I love them more than I love macaroni and cheese. And that's a lot.) I hear that individual lashes are good for something more subtle, but I don't have any experience with them, so I don't feel comfortable recommending them. Mainly because if I'm putting on lashes, I don't want them to be subtle, LOL. Quote Link to comment
Acryllica
I think I've seen the cheap ones at my Kroger, I'll have to grab a pair to try if you promise they still look "right" and not super obvious. Quote Texas Mom of Boys, Druid Chick Link to comment
