Sunmage slays some demons!

Hey,


I did not evolve much the last two challenges. Actually exam time is coming again (procrastination ) and my stomach has grown to a second demon.


I will slay the Giant demon of procrastinating in these 6 weeks. And I will figure out what food my body wants, so I will deal with that too.


1. Meditation

1 hour every day. Vipassana and sunyoga


2. Procrastination

Finish the 1st thesis until June 12.

Prepare the 4 bad exams at the end of the challenge.

Start thesis no 2.


3. Find the right fuel

I have no idea, but it looks like I will try a raw vegan diet with lots of wild greens.


4. Move my body.

I got lazy regarding this.
I will create a routine for me and do it 3x a week. It might be the angry birds workout plus dumbbells going overhead.



Since bed time was 1 hour ago I will figure this out later!

Has anyone tried the raw stuff yet?

Tips for the meat cravings?

Glad to see you are taking part in this challenge! Specially since you have some fearsome dragons to slay. :)

 

I have never gone 100% vegetarian. But my guess to reduce meat cravings would be that you need to get yourself some other source for protein and make fats.

Great challenge!

I've dabble with raw in the past, and it is pretty great- you are eating a ton of nutrient-dense foods, so cravings tend to subside. The main thing is to make sure you are getting plenty of fat to feel satiated, as well as eating protein and making sure when you workout you eat recovery food (sugars/simple carbs/clean protein right afterward, fat/omega 3s/protein 30 minutes after)

You've got some fierce dragons there - with big, sharp, pointy teeth! I can't help but wonder if part of your belly dragon might be stress-related. You've got a lot going on - it will be interesting to see if it gets under more control after you get the first thesis done and can meditate and exercise again. We can hope!

Hey,

 

I renamed the tasks.

Since I like dragons I prefer slaying demons and eradicating sankaras.

 

My food goal will be to evolve a raw vegan diet for 6 weeks.

 

Today I started with soaked(how do you call it when baby sprouts appear after one night in water?) Quinoa. Smelled somewhat fishy but stuffed me. Chewing them took pretty long.

I had cake at Work =(

Lunch was a vegetable plate and a small breadroll.

Dinner was daisies with an orange and half an avocado.

 

I was hungry afterwards so I had a raw rice protein shake with a banana and cashews. 

My stomach says it is not perfect, but still a better cheat than cooked food.

 

Tomorrow I will get some coconut and stuff. Im excited for that!

 

I did a brief, but intense workout yesterday consisting of: 

3 rounds for time:

10 situps

10 squats

10 pushups

 

After 6 weeks without any sports it was already a workout.

Today I felt a little sore, so I just did 2 rounds.

 

Tomorrow I will do 4.

 

The future will involve more movements and strength training. I feel a desire to reread Ross Enamaite...

 

@Luckyme: I am pretty sure a part of the belly demon is stress related. The most promising health theories I know say everything is stress(conflict) related and the other says everything is related to false food.

I believe there is an energetic part, too. And Im sure the truth is a mixture of these aspects...

 

So how to store an avocado that it becomes good and tasty? It was pretty green and disgusting...

We just leave them out on the counter until they get soft (but not too soft). Then put them in the refrigerator so they don't get over ripe.

Yeah - let them sit out for a few days if they're too hard to eat. You can speed up the ripening process by putting them in a brown paper sack with an apple for a day or two as well. Then be sure to fridge them, as they go from "just right" to "waaaaaaaay overdone" to "fermented and mouldy" fairly quickly.

I took my first trip about wild flowers. Some are yummy. Actually Most.

 

I noticed a shake of water, 2 bananas and mashed cashews(bought) makes me sick. I ate that stuff for weeks...

 

Meditation: 4 of 4

Procrastinating: working on it

Food: Figuring stuff out

Excercise: Done!

 

Im developing momentum again.

I love mashing avocado and make a dip with it (smoother than guacamole). Sometimes I'll do honey, a pinch of salt, and some bourbon vanilla for a sweet treat while other times I'll use a variety of curry spices for a nice spicy/savory dip. 

 

As for the banana problemo, have you ever made banana ice cream? Freeze the bananas and then throw them in a food processor. The texture is fairly akin to ice cream, and you can flavor it with herbs (honey and thyme are personal favorites) or extracts.

A raw diet must be a huge challenge.  Don't forget the nuts and seeds for some good fat and cals.  Do dried berries count as raw such as raisins and craisins?  I love having a handful after a huge salad to help my stomach feel like it got enough sugars to be happy.

I'll try everything except for the eggs ;)

 

Today I had a meeting at work and slipped with bread. I feel crappy.

Gluten isn't good for me, although I ate it for months.

 

I had fresh coconut today. Sooo yummy. And I got some fresher Avocados. They look muuuuch better. Let's see how riping them goes!

 

Actually I missed my workout due to work. Now its past midnight, so I'll do it tomorrow.

Those be some pretty fierce demons that you are facing. I tried vegan for about 2 months, but never tried raw, I am interested to see how this goes. For avocado, if you only plan on using half of one use the side w/o the pit, then sprinkle lemon juice on the fruit side of the other half, place in a ziploc making sure to get as much of the air out as you can, and store in the fridge. The other half should be good for another 2 days. I like to use mashed up avocado and salt as a butter substitute, although with eating raw I don't know what you would need a buttery spread for.

How about guacamole? Smush up an avocado, add lime juice, cumin, salt, pepper, and maybe some garlic and a bit of diced tomato or some salsa. Also good with cilantro, if you like cilantro. Usually, this is served with corn chips, but can be a dip for veggies, etc. Personally, I eat it with a spoon and consider it a food of the gods.

 

My husband likes to eat avocados drizzled with olive oil, then sprinkled with salt and pepper.

 

But now you have me craving fresh coconut.

Week 1 Checkin:

1. Meditation 7 of 8

2. Procrastination

I'm far behind. Very far. But I achieved something.

3. Fuel:

Still raw, no meat. But I do not feel well today. Maybe a wrong combination ...

4. Exercise

Just did one Workout. Not enough.

So it was no great week, but a good start.

And you are right spider. I meant something different with beeing sure.

I ate a dead animal today. The first bites were awesome, but the Rest wasn't. Aand I feel sick. Gluten is funny stuff.

Actually I noticed that my formulations became unclear more and more and that I'm losing the balance.

One reason is having to write 50 pages this week.(Never ever procrastinate or say its just writing)

The other seems to be meditation.

I will refine Goal 1:

60 Minutes of vipassana every day. 30 have to be in a single session in the morning.

Do sunyoga when possible.

Did someone work on acting more thoughtful or writing statements that people don't misunderstand (or interpret different), especially in foreign language ...

With bananas it was great. But not to my tummy... So I will leave it out for a while.

I did eat raw Olives. Real raw not soaked in salt water. Yummy !

Yesterday I had Gazpacho! Super awesome!

I ate about 6 bananas. I love them atm. I worked a lot and feel still super clear in my head!

Guys If you feel stressed don't forget to meditate!

Day 15 report:

Meditation:  15 of 15

Procrastinating: Oh yes I did it again. I working hard to finish my thesis that was due last week...

Food: I feel clear, energized and calm. I have problems to feel Anger and Hate(I need that for KI training) and feel more connected to my surrounding. Actually I did not wast more time by hating myself for procrastinating so much, which is awesome!

 I felt sick every time I ate processed or cooked food. But I continue to loose weight. Actually it is far less than I expected from my caloric intake, so I will optimize my food intake. I have Chia and Hemp seeds to get some extra energy.

Sports: Oh Yes. I did 50 Situps, 50 Squats and 50 Pushups every other day. Took me about 8 Minutes the first time, I will measure the next one... I have to move way more and to reincorporate stretching.

 

This morning I was very happy to see that it is time for the meditation challenge, as it is part of my challenge. I still prefer doing things I am comfortable with, but I look forward to doing something new next week! 

 

It became pretty hot today and it will be up to 40 degrees Celsius this week. When did the weather become so extreme?
