BlackWidowEowyn
I have been having serious thoughts... (kinda nice for a change )A debate has been raging inside my little mind about where I really belong. I love it here with all you wonderful assassins, but I think that I'm really a ranger at heart (Nothing makes me happier than throwing a barbell over my head...) I almost feel like a spy at times... sneaking here and there collecting all the best information as it suits my needsThe only problem is:It has made things very difficult whilst trying to choose goals for this challenge... See I really want to get a 100lb snatch by the end of the summer, and a 250lb deadlift... but these are not assassin type goals. WHAT TO DO?? But then I realized I don't have to leave out anything...DO ALL THE THINGS I'm still an aspiring assassin... I still don't have constant access to a gym and my beloved barbells, and so I still need to be able to do these bodyweight things to keep getting better, faster, stronger. Here's a few things I came up with-Toes to bar have been a nemesis of mine since I first entered a CrossFit gym ... time to get some good work in on themI'd like to be able get them consistently-Pull-ups are still one of the hardest things for me. I can do a few kipping ones in a row, but I would like more consistency Also strict pull-ups are the next thing I really need to be able to do-Double Unders (jump once with a jump rope, swing the rope around twice, for those who don't know what that is) again I can do them... but not consistently enough (oo there's that word again... I'm sensing a trend) MOAR work must be done (and left over from last time )-HSPU still an almost thing... more work is necessary-pistols need more workAll these need to be 3-4 times a week - consistency is KEY T2B and pull-ups are strength and dexterity... improvement will up the stats +4 possible each Double unders are more about stamina so... +5 possible I've been doing pretty well with the whole diet aspect. I've been following eat to perform and while I haven't seen much change in body comp yet.. I have DEFINITELY made gains in the strength area. Sticking with this plan for now... it needs time to work (just like anything else - and as previously mentioned I have a tendency to quit on things before they have a chance to really work... NOT THIS TIME BABY!... ) This will earn some wisdom if I stick with it. +2 possible Also apparently I need to have flossing written down as a goal to follow through with it... (why am I so lazy about that stuff?) so there it is... floss daily not graded but must be a part of my life. BlackWidowEowynLvl 6 Hobbit Assassin"Obstacles can't stop you, problems can't stop you. Got some good reps in this week with my jump rope. haven't managed a new pr yet (23 Double unders) but I know it's just gonna take some time. (and steady practice)Got some good time in hanging from a bar too... lots of pull ups ... well practice I should say... not always successful. And when I ripped my palm open the other day it made the next day's pulls a bit more painful. (also hand washing and dish washing and hair washing and anything else wherein my hand was in water .. ps I DON'T recommend hand sanitizer at that point either! just about made me swear...) SO idk if you remember me talking about signing up for an obstacle course/ mud race back in Jan... well the time has come for to run itTOMORROWyikesI'm not worried about the distance it's only a 5k, but I am a bit worried about the walls to climb, tunnels to crawl and who knows what else??ackgasp (what was I thinking??) oh THat's right... I'm upping the ante! Like Croman has taught us. If he can run however long that crazy distance was he ran in the mountains.. I can sure do this little bitty race okso wish me luck I'll let you know how it goes... maybe even with pictures BlackWidowEowynLvl 6 Hobbit Assassin"Obstacles can't stop you, problems can't stop you. BlackWidowEowyn
First things first Mud runs/ obstacle courses = awesomest fun EVER! I ran it with a group of girls and we decided to just have fun with it... so that resulted in not as much actual running as i might have done on my own... but it was WAY more fun to do it with friends! There was no way to take a camera along with us (it would have been totally ruined) but we have some cool before and afters. The obstacles were not nearly as scary or as hard as I was picturing them to be. Assassin skills and bodyweight training made them easier I know for sure. Next time I will definitely spend more time running hill sprints and just training on hills in general. Those were killer... (it was at a downhill ski place so you can picture the size and slope of some of the hills) But I'd do another one tomorrow if there was one ps I've NEVER been so dirty on all my life...WORTH IT! weekly update: see above in thread...But...Got 2 Toes to bar in a row this morning yay me! and it was almost 3 but I didn't kick hard enough on the third one.yay for progress tackling week 2 let's get some pull-ups this week! Nymeria
The mud race sounds like so much fun! What types of obstacles did they have for the race? And it was on a ski slope?! I thought it was awful, back in the day, when I had to run cross country races on golf courses, due to the hills. I can't imagine being on even steeper hills. Level 30? who the hell knows anymore? I thought it was awful, back in the day, when I had to run cross country races on golf courses, due to the hills. I can't imagine being on even steeper hills. haha yeah the hills/mini mountains (except not because I was in MN... ) were definitely the most challenging part of the whole day.Let's see....there was a giant mud pit... we came up to that one and there were people like belly crawling across it and I thought "psh I'm not geting down like that!" and then I stepped in and sunk down to above my KNEE in MUCK... so yeah I did too get down and crawl. It was the only way to get through. THere were smallish wooden barricades to climb over, of varying degrees on steepness, (all of them were maybe 10-12 feet high)There was a tunnel that slide down into a mud pond and another tunnel leading back up the other side ( you had to belly crawl through and pull yourself up with a rope). There were balance logs and beams (over a maybe 5-6 ft hole), barbed wire to crawl under (of course there was mud underneath it!) A soapy slip and slide (world's dirtiest bubble bath at the bottom ha) three rows of fire to jump (yes actually flaming up) and a 2 story wall/ rope net thing to climb up and then down againIt was basically the best assassin playground ever!! I would totally do it again in a heartbeat! BlackWidowEowynLvl 6 Hobbit Assassin"Obstacles can't stop you, problems can't stop you. Most of all, other people can't stop you. Only you can stop you.
