otter905
Hi Updated/Changed/Finalized June 5 Goal #1 Whole30/Paleo Lifestyle - 3CONI want to make 80/20 my life! Due to the fact that I put milk and sugar in my coffee and resort to protein shakes (made with water) that leaves me with 1 "no worries" meal per week. Goal #2 Running - 3 STAI am going to try to do the couch to 5k program. Starting with week 3. My crossfit schedule has been changed, leaving me with Thurs evenings free for working on my running.I am awarding myself .5 points for each week I go out and do the C25K program. I would like it to be Thurs, but can make it up on the weekend if needed. Goal #3 Pushups - 4 STR10 girl crossfit pushups - pass or fail Goal #4 Savings - 3WIS, 2CHAThis was supposed to be a sub goal, but due to the fact I just learned I need to replace my roof this summer, this has become a major goal. I don't know the exact funds needed yet, but the previous quote I received was $1400. I need to save this much money ASAP. Thank God that my brother and dad will be doing the labour for free, so I only need materials. This will be attacked two fold1. I will (try to) make a change each week saving me money for the long term. I say try because I live pretty frugally as it is and not sure if there are 6 major changes I can make to save money long term. (I have some ideas though).2. Spend time each week looking for either a new career postition that pays more or a part time position. Subchallenge1. Drink 1/2 my body weight in water each day. This is a challenge presented to me by the ladies I work with. They are doing it, but not tracking in any way. I exceed this most days, without thinking about it, so I said I would join them. Basically I will push them!! That is the goal I give myself. My self-worth, beauty, strength, and overall awesomeness is not defined by numbers. 12STR 13.75CON 5STA 12WIS 14CHA 6DEX 1 fire flowerCurrent Challenge #8 #7 #6 #5 Unofficial #4 #3 #2 "It's only impossible if you stop to think about it first." -The Pirate Captian Link to comment

otter905
Monday I called and reset up my savings account - well started it anyways. I spoke with the bank and have to mail in some info. Once that is done, I can set up automatic withdrawals from my account. I am planning to mail the material this evening on my way home from work. Last night I was invited to Brasa for dinner (for free) . Can't pass that up!! All the free fire roasted meat you can eat!! Ummm, yes please! This is my no worries meal for the week, however I did have some cake at work on Monday also. I'm not sure how to grade this, but will figure it out eventually I feel like I really need to get my head in the game. I was SOOO prepared for the last challenge, but feel I am winging this one. I want to crush this like I did last time!! Hopefully this week will smooth out a bit and I can get back into the swing of things. Learning my roof needs to be done last night has stressed me out, as I was already stressed about my financial situation. Some changes need to be made, I'm just not really sure where to make them anymore. Weekend Warrior
oh whoops! its this: http://cfscceat.blogspot.ca/ Way to get in touch with the bank so quickly! I have a tendency to procrastinate these things which always leads to trouble... I'm glad to hear you're on top of it Your meals so far sound delicious I have a sugar-free goal I'm nervous about -- esp because of all the future birthdays coming up soon. I'm sorry to hear about your unexpected house repair, but it sounds like you have a good support network! I hope this doesn't sound corny, but it reminds me of a lord of the rings quote and I hope it helps: Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. GL!I will check it out. I took that out of the challenge due to the financial goals I now have. I don't want to be like I'm gonna try this recipe, but I need to purchase X, Y and Z to do so. I made it through my last challenge with 2 bbq's, a birthday party and mothers day without cheating. You can do this!! Keep repeating "I don't eat those foods" Don't say I can't, that just makes you want to more and/or prove yourself wrong. (that helped me anyways) I have been procrastinating contacting the bank, that is why it was originally part of the challenge It has now become a bigger part though. Today will be my first running goal. I'm actually excited about it because it's cold and rainy out today and I enjoy running in the rain. (a little wierd I know) I'm pretty sure I can do the running challenge physically, its mentally that always gets me. I have a lot of trouble pushing myself to keep going. I've been doing a lot of running in crossfit lately. I need to just set my mind and do it, then I won't be able to talk myself out of it, because I've done it!! I went online to my satellite provider yesterday and changed everything to basic services saving me $25.00 +taxes. It won't start till June 27 though. I'm wondering if I call they could start it right away......still thinking about that! otter905
Did my first "run" last night. I based it on the Couch to 5K (C25K) program - week 3/4. There is a road near my house that is a circle measuring 600m. I did 5 rounds to =3K Running 400m and walking 200m. The last round I walked about 50m and the ran the last of the 200m.My time for the last 3 rounds was 12:58 (not sure if this is good or not). I was only able to track the last 3 rounds as my phone fell out of my pocket at the beginning of round 2. The first 2 rounds I also had some wardrobe issues (pants kept falling down). On the whole I am proud of what I accomplished and am thinking of trying again on the weekend. Next week my plan of attack is to run the first and last 600m with some walking in between. If my calculations are right, you did 1.1 miles in just under 13 minutes. I'd say that's good. What is your goal? I was only able to track the last 3 rounds as my phone fell out of my pocket at the beginning of round 2. The first 2 rounds I also had some wardrobe issues (pants kept falling down). Bring twine with you! I've had to buy a belt as I'm losing inches and not spending money on new wardrobe. I'm not complaining though. On the whole I am proud of what I accomplished and am thinking of trying again on the weekend. Absolutely! Go for it. Next week my plan of attack is to run the first and last 600m with some walking in between. Start strong, end strong. Nice tactic. I should try that as I'm trying to lengthen my run distance (trying to do 1 mile nonstop).Awesomeness abounds here, congrats! otter905
update #1 Crap, crap, crap and more crap - that was my diet last week. I have eating something everyday that does not belong to on the Whole30/Paleo diet. I kid myself and tell myself its not bad....you know it could be much worse than coconut and chocolate chips, but the truth of the matter is I need to kick myself in the butt, stop doing this to myself and kick ass this part of the challenge. #2 Did my run this week. I enjoyed it and am looking forward to this week. I'm really glad I made this challenge about working up to 3k and running each week, instead of just focusing on running 3k without stopping. (that is the final goal) #3 Haven't done anything with this really. I did do some incline pushups on the stairs. Need to put some more focus and energy into this goal. #4 Called my satellite provider on Friday, they couldn't take the packages off any sooner, but after explaining why I was trying to cut costs, he gave me $10 off my bill per month for 12 months. I'm guess that is because I questioned him on whether I could cut off my service all together. But $10 is $10. I also went through my house and unplugged anything that didn't need to be plugged in. (I have heard they can draw hydro even if not turned on) That ended up being a whole 3 items., but its the thought that counts My self-worth, beauty, strength, and overall awesomeness is not defined by numbers. 12STR 13.75CON 5STA 12WIS 14CHA 6DEX 1 fire flowerCurrent Challenge #8 #7 #6 #5 Unofficial #4 #3 #2 "It's only impossible if you stop to think about it first." -The Pirate Captian Link to comment

I am currently ignoring the donuts one of my cutomers brought in to say "thanks". I looked into the Zombie app and the C25K app. I don't have a data package on my phone though, so they won't work for me. I do have a counter/timer in "X-log" a crossfit app that I used. It didn't actually rain while I was running, but it was a dreary/rainy day. Which is sooo much better than running in the hot humid days. otter905
My diet is still crap. I have cheated everyday, and have ice cream cake to look forward to this afternoon. I believe I ate through all my points -literally (haha get it?) Went for a run last night and KILLED IT! Well I think so anyways.ran 1200mwalked 200mran 800m total time for all 22:42walked 200mran 600mI wasn't looking foward to the last 600m after the walk, but I put on bulletproof by Five Finger Deathpunch and went at it. Everytime I fel like stopping, I focused on the song and made it through. It was messy and not pretty at all, but let's face it, this is war and killing is not pretty! I totally did the "Rocky dance" in the middle of the street when I was done. and saw my time. If any of the neighbours saw, I'm sure they think I'm crazy, but I beleive my shortest time for 3k up till now was around 28 minutes, not that I have ever officially kept time before. I then walked home and tried hurpee burpees, based on a conversation we have been having in LostOne's thread and this video from I-Jo. I did 5, and thankfully I did them before the DOMS from Monday night's workouts (yes thats plural) set in. As a rebel, I had to try them at least once. I was totally cursing you all while doing them. You're all a wee bit crazy! I seem to fit right in! otter905
Rambling and me talking through my thoughts ahead - feel free to skipDiet was crap again yesterday. Ice cream cake and picked up a burger and fries for dinner (it was all very delicious). I'm starting to think I might need to do another Whole30. It seems I have to go all or nothing to do things right. All in is not 100% maintainable long term though. I need to find a good balance, this goal I set doesn't seem to be the way though.I currently want to eat everything. I was literally laying in bed last night wondering what I could eat because I was "starting to feel hungry". I wasn't even hungry!! The good thing is there is not much left in my house to eat that is unhealthy and that doesn't need to be cooked first. I am NOT looking forward to grocery shopping tonight! I am hoping my will power will last through this, I keep reminding myself (even now) I don't have any money so I can't spend alot on groceries that I don't need and are not good for me. The problem with that is that sometimes the unhealthy choices are much cheaper than the healthy ones. The good thing is I haven't gained any weight. I have maintained the same. The problem is don't want to maintian a weight of 200lbs, mind you I've never set a goal of I want to weight such and such. Nor do I think it would be healthy for me to set a goal like that for myself. I started working out to get stronger and be able to do things without feeling wornout, as a result of that I have realized I need to eat clean to get better. After the Whole 30 the last challenge, I felt great and looked great. I really like this feeling and need to find a way to maintain that and still be able to have a social dinner and not have to bring my own food.On a side note, I challenged myself to beat LostOne tonight. She did 10 hurpee burpees at 5:39. Terinatum
I was talking with my therapist yesterday and we got on the topic of reducing sugar. I have yet to find a balance myself. I quit Dr Pepper and that was awesome. No more gas and burps. But everything else is still floating around as an option. So in her great wisdom asked I might try adding something good into my diet as opposed to taking something away. So, I'm wondering the same for you. Now it looks as though you are eating healthier than I am at this point so I'm not sure if it will work as neatly. is there a food that is good for you that you can incorporate intentionally that will begin to curb the desire for something not-so-good? Perhaps that might work along with other approaches. Good luck! The Way Better Now than Back Then Better Now than Later On Link to comment

I went grocery shopping last night and DID buy a bag of chips, however I DID NOT buy the chocolate, apple pie and cheese popcorn that I wanted to buy. As I was wandering through Walmart I was wondering why we (I) have such a negative relationship with food when it can be sooo good. I had such a great attitude towards food during my Whole30. I felt good and was happy, why/how has it turned to this. Is it all cause I'm a woman and may or may not have PMS at the moment??? BLAH! On a good note, I ran last night. I did all the 3k with only walking about 10 metres at the end of round 3 and 4. My time was 23:04, but I also forgot to shut off the timer when I was done and stopped to breath and do a couple quick stretches before I remembered. So very excited and proud of myself. I did not do the hurpee burpees - I was WAY to tired when I was done my run. (maybe if I had eaten something better than chips for dinner I would have had more energy) This is still a challenge though and will be done! (and soon!)On an even better note, a friend may be joining me for crossfit tonight. And I have steak and corn on the cob for dinner tonight. YUM YUM!! otter905
Had a great class Friday night, my friend did not join me, but that means lots of leftover steak for me. YUM!!Banged my knee off the concrete floor in class on Saturday morning - this is NOT ok!! It is swollen/bruised and I can't bend it. This means no running, no girly pushups and no hurpee burpee challenge, it also means no class which equals one cranky Otter! Looking for suggestions on moves I can do with no equipment and that doesn't put extra weight on my knee or make me bend it. I am going to try some leg raises and countertop (incline) pushups tonight. The start of week 3 is the time to get my diet back under control. Especially if I can't work out. I ate too many cookies yesterday at lunch for father's day. That's in the past though, time to start fresh. I have started looking into internet packages. It seems the neighbour that was unknowingly supplying me with internet has moved. So I'm with out and wondering if internet would be cheaper than satellite. I did not look at any job boards last week. Need to get on this today. Its a little hard to do with no internet at home, but seeing as I am usually by myself for the last hour of the work day, I can look. otter905
Diet : Made pasta last night for dinner. Also made a coconut cream pie for one of the guys at work, with filling left over ate some of that and left the rest for today. At least I restrained myself from eating it all! So far I have totally failed this goal, however I am riding my house of all the "bad" foods. Thats something, once they are gone, they won't be tempting anymore. I can't throw away food that can be eaten. Monday I did not take care of my knee while I was at work. I was hurting and very sore by the time I got home, so I iced it, kept it up and sat and read on my deck - LOVELY!! but didn't work out. Tuesday I did take care of my knee during the day. Went home did a quick work out.50 countertop pushups40 calf raises30 situps20 leg raises10 sphinx pushups - making sure I took 3 beats up and 3 beats downtime 8:21The ab work is good for both my pushup and my running goals, the pushups are good for my pushup goal and the calf raises are good for my running goal. I considered doing another set, but was glad I didn't once I remembered I had to make the pie. My knee is much better today, I can walk properly but can't do stairs yet. I am deteremined not to run on it until I can go up and down my stairs with ease. I doubt that will be tomorrow, but it may happen by the weekend. I have decided to cancel my satellite. I just am having some trouble doing it. I think I may call tomorrow?? Maybe Monday? Start with a fresh week?? I need to not procrastinate. Sacrifices must be made to get/do the things I want to make for myself an epic life. Yes, I am trying to save money for my roof, but after that I will be saving for trips with a friend. We want to do Montreal, New York and Greece. I am trying to focus on these things while making sacrifices as opposed to saving for my roof, which is just as important, but no where near as much fun! When I do want to watch something, I use my netflix, amazon, or hulu and I watch what I want. I don't have to fumble through 658 channels to see nothing. You'll be happier I bet. Congrats! Congrats!I still have the tv, I just don't have anything feeding it pictures, hehehe - Keep in mind I don't have internet either. Last night I watched a dvd when I didn't feel like reading. I tried to go for a run last night. My knee started hurting about 1/2 way through the second round so I finished it and went home.ran 1200m time 9:21then went home and did50 leg raises, 50 counter pushups, 50 situps - time 10:10 My diet has truly been sad, well really my dinners have been. During the day I just eat what I've made and its fine and paleo approved. The evenings suck, especially when I had nothing else to do, not being able to go to crossfit. Plus I'm still stressed about my financial situation. I need to not be so hard on myself and just go with it. I have been scrimping and trying to save, but it hasn't worked out real well. I'm saving in one area and then spending in another. My friend and I bought tickets to the Mayhem Festival yesterday because Five Finger Death Punch is playing. We were both SUPER excited about this. (I'm doing it even though I don't have the cash) I then asked who else was playing so we looked it up and found Rob Zombie was playing also. EEEEEEE!!! If I was one of those girls that jumped up and down squealing I would so be doing that. CAN'T WAIT NOW!!!Going to try to do crossfit tonight, it will be modified but I need it! Hopefully, this will help me get my head straight.
