Ugh! I've been putting off this recap because I just don't want to own up to my less-than-stellar week. It's like my brain shut off mid-week and forgot that I'm holding myself accountable for these things. I guess I should get it over with though...

 

Week 2 recap

 

Goal 1: A warrior needs rest to be strong!

 

I'm not sure how to deal with late night to early morning practice days. I typically don't get home until after 8pm on M/W, and then I get up and go back in early the next morning. When I get home after 8, I still have to eat and somehow wind down from practice. I'm going to try not turning on the TV this week and see if that helps. I'll just have to catch up on my shows over the weekend.

 

Grade: 5 nights with 8+hours of sleep = C

 

Cumulative Grade: C-

 

Goal 2: A warrior needs to eat good to be strong!

 

I stumbled a few days this week. There was no reason... I just gave in to temptation a few times. I also didn't weigh myself, but I'll jump on the scale at practice tonight to see where I'm at.

 

Weight:

5/4/13: 111.2kg/245lb

6/8/13: 109kg/240lb

 

Grade: 5 good days = C

 

Cumulative Grade: C 

 

Goal 3: A warrior needs to PROVE their strength!

 

Max lifts for the week:

 

70kg snatch on Friday

95kg clean and jerk on Friday

100kg clean (missed jerk) on Friday.

 

My coach is working with me on my jerks right now. They just seem to fall apart over 100kg. I'm hoping to get this straightened out by Nationals, as I'd like to do a 100kg clean and jerk there.

 

No PRs on my main lifts this week, although I had some pretty decent PRs on accessory lifts. I really tried to channel my Oprah posting on Friday night, but we were lifting at a different gym with different equipment and it was just... weird...

 

Grade: N/A 

 

 

Bonus Goal: I gotta read more.

 

I didn't even touch a book last week... that makes me a sad panda.

Week 3 recap

 

Goal 1: A warrior needs rest to be strong!

 

Did much better on sleep this week. The one night I didn't get 8 hours, it was like 7.6, so it wasn't too bad. I've been using sleepbot on my phone to track my sleeping and it's helped a ton.

 

Grade: 6 nights with 8+hours of sleep = B

 

Week 1 grade: C

Week 2 grade: C

Week 3 grade: B

Cumulative Grade: C+

 

Goal 2: A warrior needs to eat good to be strong!

 

I did fairly good this week. I let myself splurge a little after my meet on Saturday, but otherwise, I stuck to my eating plan pretty well.

 

Weight:

5/4/13: 111.2kg/245lb (official meet weight)

6/8/13: 109kg/240lb

6/22/13: 109.38kg/241lb (official meet weight)

 

Grade: 6 good days = B

Week 2 grade: C

Week 3 grade: B

77kg snatch on Monday for a new PR!

First 500m row for time: 1:50.1 (I guess that's not too bad. I'll be rowing 1 or 2 times a week for cardio)

 

Also had a meet on Saturday, and it was AMAZING! I felt on top of it the whole meet, which was strange because it took me 3 hours to get there, and I almost missed weigh-ins. Usually that kind of shit stresses me out, but I decided to shrug it off and focus on my lifts. I was super focused and had a great showing. My coach even told me I looked really confident. My competition skills are improving greatly!

 

My lifts:

Snatch: 67/70/72x - New meet PR. Lost 72 in front. I just didn't have my core tight enough.

Clean and Jerk: 95/98/100 - Two new meet PRs!

Total:170 - I'll take THAT to Nationals! WOOT WOOT!

 

As soon as the video from the meet is posted, I'll put it up here.

 

Grade: C (so far)

Attempted 175lbs this morning because I need to pass you. I failed. But oh so close. Next time. Next time.

Tomorrow is heavy night... you might have to try for 177 after that. :-D
