Jax_BabyJeep
Day 34:Awesome day! I'm soooo freaking tired HAHA - My hip decided to behave PERFECTLY!!! today and I did all three dives off the boat without ANY issues. Not to mention I wasn't as tired as I normally am on dives. Been up since 5am and it's almost 10pm and yes, now I am winding down - but it's been a loooooooooooooooooooooong day. Meet some new divers, saw my old dive buddy (he's an instructor now) and the shop owner meet us back at the dock when we were pulling in and had lots of compliments on my weight which was pretty cool. Last he saw me I weight around 35lbs or so more than I do now. so /hi5 me! woot lol Todays dives were awesome, everytime I'm in the water I am always reminded why I continue with diving. Saw several goliath grouper, tons of starfish, tons of sea cucumbers, tons of hermit crabs, tons of sea urchins, a fair amount of jellyfish (thanks jellyfish.. they got my neck when I was in the bait ball - which was awesome, being in the bait ball - not the being stung part lol), HUGE atlantic spadefish, a couple of blennies and gobys, couple of amberjacks, barracuda (I think he was probably 6-7 ft long), and also a scorpion fish.bait ball: http://twitpic.com/5kvqm2Breakfast: protein shakeSnack: protein shake and cherriesLunch: protein bar and watermelonDinner: salad, corn and pork bbq with 3 bites of banana pudding =)Beverage(s): will update later b/c I'm still putting water away. ended up being 120 ounces of waterWorkout: 3 ocean dives off a dive boat 15-20 miles off shore, each dive just under 30 minute, depth around 80 feetdive# 51, 52 & 53 for the logbook! hurray <3 --- Current challenge --- 1st challenge --- The Greatest Contest in the History of the World --- My Twitter --- Link to comment

Jax_BabyJeep
Day 36:ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?! Just wow - what a day! In a most awesome kick ass way. Why? Well first all was the email from Steve! again.. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?! Just blown away - awesomeness... and seriously - congratz to Chris (aka VB!), Louise and Dave! Everyone has been kicking some ass.. it's awesome. Glad I didn't have the job to pick out the names from over 300 submissions... whew! I've had amazing support here on the forums, from my family (My Mom is ready to start! HELL YES!), my best friend in California (who I made cry) and from my extended "jeep" family! Really blown away <3 awww warm fuzzy feeling ALL DAY LONG BABY!Ok - I've also been working on narrowing down an issue. So last week - that whole hip thing. Yes, ok part of it was the weather. But it returned slightly today which I personally started to call bullshit on because I WORE IT OUT on Sunday and Monday and it had really no issues (sore quad muscle on the right.. but nothing 'joint' related)... Today at work half way through day - and it starts up. I believe it has A LOT to do with my chair at work.. so going to have a little heart to heart with the boss tomorrow. We have chairs 'on order' but it's not priority... well that process needs to get bumped up a bit. Hoping as long as I approach it from a medically necessary standpoint that they will be cool about it. Breakfast: protein shakeSnack: protein shake and blueberriesLunch: pork bbq leftovers and spinach salad with tomatoesSnack: protein bar and an orangeDinner: 1/2 (or about 10-12 ounces) of a chocolate and peanut butter whey protein shake, 1/2 because it was too sweet along side of a turkey and bacon wrap with tomatoes and greens with the items taken out of said wrap.. didn't want it - just wanted the nom noms inside the wrap gotta love the looks u get when you dissemble wraps from the employees of said store.. my bad =)Beverage(s): 90 ounces of water --- Current challenge --- 1st challenge --- The Greatest Contest in the History of the World --- My Twitter --- Link to comment
Jax_BabyJeep
Day 37: Seriously everyone's comments have me blushing.... Can you see it on the forums? If you can I'm totally not surprised. The results I posted on Facebook and I've shown the page to several of my non-facebook friends at work etc... So freaking impressed with everyone here on the forums. Lots to be inspired by. Except for my past week... ugh - Thought I had it in the bag for today... All rested up - sat correctly and carefully at work.. talked to the manager about who to contact regarding a chair etc etc... Left work got fitted for my vibrams... Went to a store to see if I could find pants that fit (failed) and grabbed food and got home and then remembered that I needed to update the website for our committee function tomorrow and send out an email for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (it's through the American Cancer Society). My third year walking - and 2nd year on the committee as the online chair. I look at the clock and it's 11pm.. shit. Another day gone.. does my walking count? /sigh not quite the workout intended for this evening. Though I did paint my toes bright ass pink for tomorrows Early Registration for this years participants. Wow... I seriously need to re-do morning workouts I think - I have the meeting tomorrow and won't get home until after 9 probably ... and now it's too late to get up early! /kicks rocks! dang it! OK - on the bright side of things (sorry! wordy tonight!!!) while I was at Black Creek Outfitters I found out two things that are on my bucket list... 1) VB (aka Chris aka Mr. Winner of The Greatest Contest in the History of the World) has inspired me! I was in previously mentioned Black Creek getting fitted for vibrams - they use a wacky non-US shoe sizing... and I'm done, got my size and browsing the store.. WOW!!! They have TONS of cool outdoor gear! Must win lotto and return! and I see a rock wall.. Are you kidding?! Sa-WWEEEEEEEET! So will work EXTRA hard on chin-ups so once I feel I can pull myself up said wall I will be signing up for their intro class and rock wall climbing! It won't be within the next challenge more than likely - but I WILL DO IT! 2) Another item for the bucket list... found out about a FREE (yes, free...!) paddle boarding clinic going on this Sunday at the beach. You show up, you sign a waiver, they give you basics and stick you in the water with gear... FREAKING AWESOME! So... Sunday morning I will head out bright and early for paddle boarding! So freaking stoked! and that concludes this long ass public service announcement thanks for reading! Breakfast: protein shake Snack: protein shake and watermelon Lunch: tuna and spinach salad with tomatoes Snack: protein bar and cherries Dinner: chicken and a salad (carrots, brocolli, lettuce, tomatoes) Beverage(s): 95 ounces of water --- Current challenge --- 1st challenge --- The Greatest Contest in the History of the World --- My Twitter --- Link to comment
Vanilla Bean
! You deserve every bit of that praise Jaxy. You're consistently kicking butt even on your 'rest' (pfft, looking at all you did that day I wouldn't exactly call it a "day wasted") days! I am so happy you're looking into climbing! You will love it when you sign up, and with the progress you've been making I know you're going to be on the wall soon. I'm still working my way through all the 'easy' bouldering routes myself Link to comment

Jax_BabyJeep
thanks VB and Crooked - I seriously hate that I haven't done a BW workout though! So I'm about to get my ass in bed so I can wake up at 5:30am - because it WILL BE DONE in the morning! Me and my damn overbooking myself LOL Life happens =) Oh - question VB - could u do a pull up / chin up before you started the wall? Jax_BabyJeep
Day 38: Well I made someone else's day - just didn't workout again today! Ughhhh! Left work promptly at 6pm - drove to the other side of town for the committee for Making Strides and one of our return cancer survivors who runs a non-profit shop wasn't able to remember her login - so good thing I showed up with last years access. Got her all set up - which is good - because she has lots of women that are already coming into her shop and asking when her team was going to be up so they could join. On the downside by the time I got home tonight it was after 9:30. So yes... Workout in the AM! Hmm... I feel like I'm forgetting something - or maybe I just wrote too damn much yesterday? Either way - time for bed <3 Breakfast: protein shake Snack: protein shake and watermelon Lunch: grilled chicken salad with guacamole (late lunch so skipped 2nd snack.. ) Dinner: 1/2 bison burger, salad and asparagus Beverage(s): 98 ounce of water --- Current challenge --- 1st challenge --- The Greatest Contest in the History of the World --- My Twitter --- Link to comment
Vanilla Bean
Oh - question VB - could u do a pull up / chin up before you started the wall? Just kinda curious =)I can move myself off the ground at least now - but still got a bit to go Yes I could, BUT! I have come to learn that pure upper body strength is not really what you need for climbing. It is a different kind of strength, and what I found to be the most taxing was how tired my forearms got. A lot of the work you do on the wall with your upper body is supported by the strength in your hands. It takes a while to develop, but it is pretty cool when it starts to come together. Also I hope you don't mind calluses on your hands Also, a big thing that most new climbers (myself very much still included in this) forget is their feet! On my 2nd day at my gym I told a instructor that I needed to work on my forearm/hand strength, and he just laughed saying, "No, you need to work on you foot placement."Guys tend to be a little more guilty of trying to bull up a route with their upper body than women (at least with all the people I have talked to at my gym). Getting the technique of placing your feet correctly to help lead you up the wall early on will make your life SO much easier, and take a lot of stress off of your upper body. Link to comment

Didn't make the healthiest dinner choice - but we were at the mall - and mall food courts here don't have a lot of options. I did finally take bags to the goodwill store... 6 bags (well above my self requirement of two!). Wow - lots of stuff went. Hurray!!! Clothes that didn't fit etc. Oh also today roommate was home so went ahead and did measurements for this 6 week challenge. Because it will soooo not happen Tuesday morning. It's all she can do to get out of the house and to work in the mornings. I also recalculated my inches from last 6 weeks and found that it wasn't 11.5 inches but 14.25 inches! I'll update this last 6 weeks on Tuesday of course =) Breakfast: protein shake (well more like mid morning snack.. kinda woke up late) Lunch: turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomato wrap minus wrap and a whey protein shake (late lunch.. was cleaning out the closet!) Jax_BabyJeep
Day 43: Last day wasn't supposed to go down quite like this. But it is what it is. Paleo yes, got that nailed down. Workout.. damn it. Slept through the workout alarm and figured no biggie - do it when I get off work. But forgot I had a commitment tonight to go to the Dive Club meeting at Seven Bridges. Was going to skip it - but then found out my friend Mar who I hadn't seen since right after she was pregnant (baby is born and several months old...) was going to be there AND my friend from Romania is back in the states for a few weeks and she was there. So yes, I went. Have dinner plans with my Romanian friend tomorrow so excited! But didn't get home until 10pm... yup, damn it - no workout. But I did pick a healthy dinner from their not so cheap menu.. but it WAS tasty! Lump crab meat FTW! <3 Ok - so now off to bed. Going to shoot for 5:30am again... Breakfast: protein shake Snack: protein shake and blueberries Lunch: tuna and spinach salad and watermelon Snack: protein bar and cherries Dinner: seafood cobb salad with balasmic (shrimp and lump crab meat (no imitation!) and bacon and egg and tomatoes and lettuce and avocado! <3) Beverage(s): 100 ounces of water --- Current challenge --- 1st challenge --- The Greatest Contest in the History of the World --- My Twitter --- Link to comment
Jax_BabyJeep
Recap of 6 weeks: Fitness: •RSG BW rank one (take two!) - C, not as good as I would have liked this round. One week out due to hip, and this last week - honestly life kinda kept me busy. Must learn balance •Walking, biking or swimming etc 2x a week - D, I learned a new sport, paddle boarding - and went diving - but not nearly as often as I wanted to •Get to 190 lbs, currently 200 - A, 189.5! •Attend at least 1 zumba class in the gym (eek! I work out better solo for the most part and the thought of getting in a large classroom... Ugh but I WILL do this!) - F, no zumba... Diet: •Continue on my Paleo/Primal-ish path - A, feeling great about food choices! •Track daily food & water intake, exercise & BP - A, still tracking •Add to my recipe box only paleo or primal recipes - F, crap, totally forgot about this... •Try new food(s): 1 new food = C, 2 new foods = B, 3 new foods = A - C? - I created a sushi roll without rice? Life: •Make a 97.5% quality or better on my first month review - N/A - turns out my first review was done, but not scored since our first 30 days was training.. doh! •Self proclaimed pack rat - I need to unload AT LEAST two bags out of my possession. This includes going through my clothes and toss/donate anything that is too well worn or doesn't fit and/or I never wear - A+! Unloaded 6 bags of items to the Salvation Army, 4 bags of clothes and 2 bags of misc. •Upgrade the Jeep - in talks with friends for a 4 inch lift (she has a 2") and 33" tires (currently on 29s.. lol) - time to stop talking and get it done! - C, tires are bought and in friends garage. In talks about the lift but not yet purchased. Jax_BabyJeep
Day 44: aka the day after the challenge Ok - so not happy really with the workouts - or lack thereof this week. I know what I need to post for my next challenge.. Better focus on life / balance + workouts! Good grief. Of couse - I've had absolutely craptastic sleep for now three nights in a row. Literally had that sleep where you remember the ENTIRE dream and can alter the dream because oh wait - you're not in REM sleep :/ and let me tell you - I ran from an absolute CRAP-TON of zombies last night. Yes, that was the dream. I did ok until about 4am when they started chasing my dog. Had to wake myself up fully and get rid of that dream. Zombies after my dog = not cool! So yeah, didn't wake up to workout and worked a half day with the intention of going to the dentist, getting out of there at a decent time (Appt was at 2pm...) and having time to workout before meeting my Romanian friend for dinner tonight.. I was at the dentist until after 5pm! /sigh dang it - but on the bright side - my mouth being numb wore off just before dinner lol. Of course they choose a chinese buffet for dinner - damn it's hard to pick paleo on that but I think I did pretty good. Tomorrow is hosed, b/c it's late AND I have another committee meeting for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. *sigh* At least my eatings are good? Breakfast: protein shake Snack: protein bar and blueberries Lunch: chicken and an apple Snack: protein shake (it's all I could have after the dentist) Dinner: stir fry veggies, crab legs, 3 pieces of sashimi oh and I might have eaten 1 crab rangoon - oh and some edamame too! Beverage(s): 86 ounces of water - hard to drink with a numb mouth and/or while they are working on you for 3 freaking hours! --- Current challenge --- 1st challenge --- The Greatest Contest in the History of the World --- My Twitter --- Link to comment
