What bands have you seen live?

Recommended Posts

Since I live at the ass end of nowhere I rarely get to see decent international bands I take every oppurtinity I can to watch a decent show.

Bands I've intentionally bought tickets for:

Deftones (last week!)

Metallica

Rammstein

Fleshgod Appocalypse (if your a death metal fan and don't know these Italians: shame on you!)

Ensiferium (meh)

Soulfly

BulletBelt (New Zealand Black Metal)

At one or two festival I was blown away by some performances of music I don't particularly enjoy such as:

Billy Talent

Groove Armada

Manchester Orchestra

C-mon & Kipski

Fatboy Slim

Violent Femmes

Finally going to be able to cross Iron Maiden off the bucket list. Years passed when something got in the way...I'd be in Europe, they'd be touring the states (and vice versa), for example.

A couple of years ago, they only played 1 or 2 concerns in the US (down in Tampa), and I had no vacation time to use.   The following year, I had a ton of vacation, and they didn't play in the US.

This year, I committed.  They are playing 7 dates in the US this year, and I have tickets for the Kansas City show next month.  My wife and son (11) will also be going.

Beyond that, I lived in Chicago for 4 years while going to school, so I saw a lot of shows.

Smashing Pumpkins (several times including a 500-ticket show a few months before Mellon Collie came out)

Medicine x2

Too Much Joy

Alice in Chains

Screaming Trees x2

Joe Satriani

Live

Big Audio Dynamite

Public Image Ltd.

Blind Melon

The Frogs

The Offspring (backstage passes, too)

Megadeth

Slayer

Eric Johnson x2

Rush

The Cure

Scatterbrain

Bruce Dickinson (one of his solo tours)

REO Speedwagon

Cheap Trick

Ratt

Weird Al (amazing show)

Def Leppard

Poison

Lita Ford

Tommy Castro

Eric Sardinas (x3)

Probably several I'm forgetting, plus numerous regional blues artists, indie bands that never went anywhere, etc.

Repairing a lifetime of bad habits...

Hmm... Well lets see

When I was 12 I was obsessed with Kenny Chesney and saw him 3 times which included Little Big Town, Deirks Bentley, Miranda Lambert, Gretchen Wilson, Uncle Kracker, Kid Rock, etc

Fast forward to high school and I only listened to Christian music and saw Switchfoot, House of Heroes, Fireflight, Family Force 5 a couple times, oh gosh I can't even count them all. I probably went to 6 or 7 of those festivals.

Fast forward again to college-current

RED

Skillet

Three Days Grave

Saving Abel

In October I'm seeing Avenged Sevenfold!! And I'm stoked about it! :)

Avenged Sevenfold (also insanely loud)

Disturbed (ditto)

April 2011:

I'll add Fictionst and Imagine Dragons, and possibly 30 Seconds to Mars, to this list in October, and hopefully also Relient K (one of my other favorite bands) and Motion City Soundtrack in November. Maybe Trans-Siberian Orchestra in either November or December too.

I couldn't even begin to remember all the shows I've been to. The shows I enjoyed the most were from:

Circa Survive

Alkaline Trio

Iron Maiden

Nekromantix

Tiger Army

Bad Religion

Bayside

Horrorpops

Mad Caddies

Bouncing Souls

I know I'm missing a lot, including a ton of local bands. I used to go to a bunch of local shows.

I love going to concerts!  I'm probably forgetting a lot.

They Might Be Giants - I've seen them something like 7 times and I've got tickets to see them again next month.  They're my favorite band to see live.  Fun Fact: My husband proposed after a TMBG concert 18 years ago.

Huey Lewis & the News - recently, I'm old but I'm not that old.

Ludo - I've seen them 3 times and they're completely awesome.  They're my other favorite band to see live.

Ben Folds - twice

Flogging Molly - twice.  Fun Fact: They play Tempe Arizona every year on St. Patrick's Day

Blink 182

New Found Glory

Yellowcard - saw them for free behind QualComm Stadium in San Diego

Dropkick Murphy - worst show ever.  Not the band's fault, the sound in the venue was horrid.  It sounded better outside.

Fountains of Wayne

Getaway Car - don't think they exist anymore but they were awesome

Aerosmith - twice, almost 20 years apart.  They were better the first time.

Motley Crue

Poison

Porno for Pyros

Alice Cooper

Skid Row - right after their first album came out, it was my first concert when I was in high school

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good

i have honestly seen too many to remember...

Some stand out shows would be

Bloc Party

Chemical Brothers

Tool

A Perfect Circle

Fatboy Slim

Queens Of The Stone Age

Muse

Mudvayne

Interpol

Enter Shikari

Editors

I have also been to so many festivals over the years and seen about a thousand bands at them... i guess the stand out festival in Australia would be the big day out

I have been every year since 2000 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Day_Out_lineups_by_year

Next year will be my 15th year... some years i have been twice.

Im seeing Porter Robinson in a month and also going to Soundwave festival in 2014, which has AFI, Korn, Green Day, Alice In Chains, PLacebo to name a few

My first concert was going to see Savage Garden in my teens :D No regrets! I'm in the mood to listen to them again now, thinking about it.

I've seen Andrew Bird twice and Iron and Wine three, maybe four times. Fleet Foxes once. Laura Marling twice.
