Nominate books for the July 29 - September 16 challenge!

Recommended Posts

Hello NF readers!

Time to nomiate books for the next challenge. In order to not have 50 books on the poll, please follow the rules.

Rules:

  • Each person can only nominate ONE book
  • To make it to the poll, the book has to be "seconded" by another person--this will count as a nomination. You cannot nominate a book and then "second" another book.
  • To avoid confusion, when nominating a book post the title and the author. Even better, if possible hyperlink the book to Amazon (or don't be offended if I add it in :) )

Nominations will close Monday, July 22 at midnight PST (well, Arizona Standard Time, MST without daylight savings).

Past books:

  • 1Q84 by Haruki Nurakami
  • Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk
  • American Gods by Neil Gaiman
  • Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
  • Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
  • Wool by Hugh Howey

House of Leaves, by Mark Z. Danielewski:

amazing book. it sucks you in, warps your brain, and leaves you thinking about it for ages. if you want an intricately crafted almost-horror book that fits into many and no genre, a book that will keep you turning page after page, and one that is anything but traditional, look no further.

Paper Towns by John Green.

http://www.amazon.com/Paper-Towns-John-Green/dp/014241493X

I haven't read it (yet) but had a friend highly recommend it. I was told it's a but of an easier read (good for summer!) with characters that reflect traits many of us can relate to. Inspiring. Also on the NYT Bestsellers List.

Bigm141414 suggested this a while back for me to read...I'll second it!

I've read a few other things by John Green, looks interesting.

I'm game. I nominate "Stranger in a Strange Land" (it's coming up for my IRL book club... which has already read Ender's Game and American Gods, lol).

I second Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein. (Amazon Canada)

Snow Crash sounds fun. I haven't read it since the early 90s,and it would be great to revisit it, especially with the NF crowd.

Feel the Fear.... and Do It Anyway by Susan Jeffers

Amazon link

I'm about half way through.. Its a gender neutral self-help book about the fear that prevents most of us from living our lives to the fullest and how to overcome it.  Came highly recommended by my mom (she has read dozens of self-help books and regards this as one of the top 3 she has read).  Easy read :)
