I have some strategies mapped out, some acceptable substitutions for when I absolutely HAVE to have something from the corner store or I'll go insane, and I am thinking of adding a tangible reward for getting an 'A' on this goal. A new handbag or a piece of art for my (soon to be found) home sound pretty good. Also, for anyone who joins - this link to Athena's post on sugar is gold. I know there's the whole "I'm not a dog, I don't need treats" argument... but I am an animal, I do want treats Thoughts?Sam, I love the idea of positive reinforcement as long as its not with snack treats and because of who I am I'm totes voting handbag or shoes My way of overcoming snack attacks is to always have some of my other fave snacks on hand - biltong, nuts, homemade dried fruit, carrots (I loooooove carrots) - in my handbag, in my drawer, in the pantry. If that doesn't help I will reassess and make another plan. You hit the nail on the head with the reward mindset. I just scored 2kg of Biltong and my wife and I are having a massive cook off on Sunday. Anytime I want to eat something crap it's going to be a handful of Biltong or a bowl of stew instead. I've also spied on some healthy muscular peeps recently and there seems to be a lot of hard boiled eggs going on. I think some ready to eat in the fridge at all times during the next 6 weeks is going to be a good idea for me as well. Cherries have reappeared in my local supermarkets, I'm going to try to have them in the fridge at all times as well. If I get desperate for sweeties I'll hoover up cherries instead. That time white the with some milk worked for me. I know how you Warriors are about kittens. I'm also not sure what my bigger reward would be. I'm not really a handbag kind of girl. Not sure if I want to give myself a bigger reward at the end of the challenge :think: Hardboiled eggs are awesome when I'm wanting a snack. I'm also stocked up on raw almonds and some extra cucumbers/celery/carrots. Also chia seeds so I can drink a a glass of chia water when I can't figure out if I'm thirsty or hungry. One of my problems is eating fruits/veggies in the wrong proportions - 5-6 fruit servings a day and 2-3 veggies. I'm limiting to 2 pieces of low GI fruit/day for this quest. I'm in the habit of buying so much fruit - I came home from the market yesterday with soooooo much of it. I either need to pawn it off on my husband, or bring it to a potluck tomorrow. Probably a combo of both. So bye-bye watermelon. I also am permitting myself 125g of 85% chocolate/week (no more than 25g in any one day) - and handily I can buy a brand of chocolate that has 5 individually wrapped 25g - my week's allotment. I still haven't settled on a particular one, but he showed me this vid and i thought i would share it with you cos sometimes we forget why we do what we do and get way to wrapped up in the small details. It just reminded me to stay focused on myself in all of it. I great thing to remember at the start of a challenge. I can see from your challenge that you're trying to reduce your processed food intake - awesome goal! We're just here to support each other in our challenge goals like that. We don't really have any rules - other than be helpful, supportive, and full of nerdy-goodness You don't have to report anything, but I tend to report in with successes or lapses so I can get some woot or a kick in the butt For example: I've been trying all week to not snack, but I have not managed even one day snack free. Admittedly, it's only been one thing a day, but I am really going to have to commit to this come Monday. My chart and stars are on the fridge, and I've pre-prepared some food for the coming week. I am going to do it. Five days - no snacks. Saturday is my birthday, so I want to save up one of my allowed days off for that. I can do five days! I have kitten stickers for my chart. That is very cool!
