kindling Posted July 22, 2013 Report Share Posted July 22, 2013 So I saw that there were some Nerd Fitness Fantasy Football leagues around last year...but I didn't see any mention of them for this year. Is there any interest? I was in a (non-NF) 10-team league last year, and am going back for more this year, so I have some experience being an "owner", but not much in terms of actually setting up or managing a whole league. I didn't know if the people who did it last year were already planning on doing it again this year, or if the people who missed out would want another opportunity? I'm only familiar with ESPN's system, but I'd really just like to play, if someone else is drooling to take charge and set everything up! We used NFL's last year and it was so clunky and such a pain to do anything that I ignored it after 2 weeks. Bit early tho, I don't like to draft until after week 2 of the preseason unless doing a message board draft, and its already too late for that. I definitely prefer Yahoo or Fleaflicker, Fleaflicker especially. But yeah NFL.com's fantasy interface, really the whole damn site, is just way too clunky to be useful. It'd probably be cool if you were on a 100mbs connection and their servers could keep up (and you did't have any virus protection/firewall speed bottlenecks), as is visiting NFL.com is about like a blast from the dial up past, frickin brutal load times. Thank goodness for pro-football-reference for when you need stats, for stuff like that NFL.com is unusuable. The keeper league I'm in at work is now going into its 8th year, its an amazingly awesome league. Everybody thinks about their team long term and their long term strategy and everybody tries (16 teams, 4 keepers per). Very few people have anybody remaining from the initial draft. This is our second year and we're just transitioning to a keeper. Its cool as they mature, the good get better and the bad teams get worse, but then new dynasties rise and old ones fall. My team was good at first, but I had a poor long term strategy and spend a long time with an epically awful team. But I've made some great picks in the last few years and it looks like the new dynasty is rising.
