LadyWitch
This is my second challenge, and I've decided to stay an Adventurer for the time being, as my main focus is weight loss. I did fairly well in the first challenge, but don't want to loose momentum now! The Main Quest... ...Get Married! This is booked for the 8th Feb 2014. So, just over 6 months to go! Still have a lot to do before then, but my primary goal is to get down to 10st (140lb) by the end of January. Goals to achieve this:1/ Continue to eat 85% Paleo each week.2/ Perform BBW 3 times a week - aim is to be able to do a full pull-up by the end of the challenge.3/ Do one 'Sprint' session each week. Life Quest... Make shineys! I have a whole host of things I want to make, but haven't had the time or inclination to get it done... so now I am! I'm going to aim to make one item a week, so at the end of the six week challenge I should have made six items - this can be jewellery or clothing related. (If nothing else, I have four bridesmaids who need matching boleros, fascinators and jewellery making for Feb) Motivations... Obviously the main one is to look fantastic on my wedding day! But, I've also suffered with back problems for years, so strengthening my back is also a priority. I'm doing a lot of dancing at the moment (burlesque and belly dancing) and have shows for both classes coming up in October, so I want to be fit enough to get through the entire shows without feeling half dead! So, to summarise:Eat PaleoGet stronger and fitterLoose weightMake nice things Look Fantastic! On Monday I'll post my starting weight and measurements, and possibly a pic (if I can work out how to upload it!) Check out my character here! Previous challenges: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. katmilby
All the core work from bellydance is going to do wonders for your back strain as well! Just don't forget to warm up your isolations nice and slow. Link to comment
Linada
Hmm, maybe part of my future challenges should be "what to wear for the wedding" Have you thought about your stats and grading yet? I've decided not to do any ahead of time. It seems actual lessons learned don't necessarily match the plan, so I am going to see how well free form works this time. LadyWitch
I agree Linada, it can be hard to assign points based on something you set up six weeks previously so I'm doing the same as you, and being a little bit more 'free form' with it! I may change my mind as we go, but that's part of the fun Very true katmilby, the belly dancing is definitely helping to strengthen my core muscles... and its good fun too! Our instructor, Tati, makes sure we do a thorough warm up and cool down every class, and is happy to modify any moves that I struggle with (although I'm having far less problems now than when I started!) LadyWitch
Thanks guys! I've also just realised that the week after this challenge ends is a big Steampunk weekend in Lincoln, so that gives me a good reward for meeting my targets (also, the lady designing my dress will be there and probably want to take some new measurements!) I'm feeling rather sick and dizzy today, and really hoping that it's just a passing bug... I can't afford to be ill! (and not just because I'm self-employed with no sick pay ) I have to many things to be doing, diet and fitness-wise, not to mention general life plans that I don't want to cancel! Oh well, fingers crossed its just a 24 hour bug Check out my character here! LadyWitch
Well the bug seems to have passed (touch wood!) so I'm all set to start things tomorrow although I'm not sure I'm going to make my own 'mini goal' of hitting 12stone before the start of this challenge, mostly because its TTOTM and I normally gain at least 1/2lb, and because I succumbed and had a couple of doughnuts at training yesterday (although running around in 25 degree heat, wearing padding and a helmet, and hitting people with the not-so-pointy end of a nine foot spear, will probably have burnt off some of the calories!) I've also just booked 10 days off work in the middle of this challenge (my first real time off in well over a year) during which I'll be at my reenactment groups permanent site in Kent, for their 'work week'. This means a week of painting, chopping weeds, digging drainage ditches or anything else that needs doing! Biggest problem will be sticking to the paleo diet for the week, as food is normally provided and heavily based on 'sandwiches and crisps for lunch, pasta or rice for dinner'... I'l have to commandeer a corner of one of the fridges and stock up on salad and meat and there is normally a fair bit of drinking around the fire pit in the evening... I'll have to either go t-total for the week, or just focus on maintaining my weight. Oh well, life is full of challenges, it's how we meet them and beat them that matters Check out my character here! Nephaisys
First - your hair is - quite possibly - the most amazing thing on these boards! I love your life quest goal - make shineys. This is absolutely my goal for the next challenge. I used to make jewelry, paint, sculpt, photograph, all sorts! Then life got in the way (that and my attention span - if my goal was to "make 6 items of jewelry" I'd be bored after three!) so I love the flexibility of your goal, and the idea of not limiting yourself, great work! And congrats on your wedding - a load of my friends got married recently, I can't believe how long it takes to organise all that stuff! I'm sure you'll look beautiful on the day regardless Thanks Nephaisys! I have to admit, my hair isn't that colour atm, mostly cos my mum threw a hissy fit at the thought of me having blue hair at the wedding, but I will probably go blue again after the big day (it's my profile pic simply because I loved it, and as a reminder that I can do anything I damn well like!) My shiney's will probably be a mix of jewellery, clothing and fascinators (mostly steampunk inspired stuff) as I get bored if I limit myself to one thing too! And I have soooo many ideas about what I want to make! (I will probably have to spend some time making wedding related stuff too... such as invitations!) Check out my character here! LadyWitch
Invitation are indeed important! No point organising a wedding if I forget to invite anyone Although, it would mean more food and drink for me! Arilian Princess
we don't want more food and drink. We want to shares it. And I think I might just do that, we seem to have less people all around this time around; might still be early though. I was working out an idea for a group myself. LadyWitch
Ok, starting stats: Weight: 170.5lbBust: 38.5 (98cm)Chest: 32 (81cm)Waist: 32 (81cm)Hips: 44 (112cm)Thigh: 26.5 (68.5cm) As expected I gained 1/2 lb this week due to hormones... but this is getting to be as predictable as clockwork! I loose weight for three weeks, then gain 1/2 lb, so while it is still frustrating, it's also acceptable. Still, I'm 9 1/2 lb lighter than at the start of the last challenge! My week is rather light on shifts, so I should be able to get out and do a lot of 'move slowly' and I'm hoping to get a sprint session in tomorrow... today will be a BBW session (this has now become higher priority as I challenged my fiance to do some push ups last night and he knocked out ten without even trying... Grrr!) Not sure how to post pics, but will do so when I figure it out! Check out my character here! Creativity shouldn't be limited, and I think that's where I've been making my mistake.I'm not a great painter, but it can be incredibly therapeutic to throw paint around after a bad day Hope you keep it up! I think we all need a bit more creativity in our lives! Just make sure you avoid anything that makes you ill. I am sure everything will else will be burned off instantly. By all accounts women are all about the legs, men about the arms.....Not that I'd want to challenge the fitness levels of someone who runs around with a sword and shield a lot in the first place I'm finding it easier and easier to say no to things that I know will cause stomach cramps (anything with wheat in basically) but I do still slip up sometimes, either by thinking 'Maybe this wont cause a reaction' or 'It's worth the later discomfort'... I need to break myself of that mentality - it's all poison and should not be going anywhere near my mouth! As for not challenging him, I'd have no one else to challenge if I didn't! Besides, how am I supposed to know what I need to do to be able to beat him, if I don't get a baseline on his fitness?! And thats obviously my real goal... beat the pants of K! Right... update time... Yesterday went well, although I have a sneaking suspicion I didn't eat enough... I had an apple, chicken salad, and then venison meatballs with sweet potato and aubergine in a spicy tomato sauce... and did a BBW session and a burlesque class... Needless to say I woke up starving! Will up my intake today, and have a more relaxed day (I have more shifts today, so I have less time for 'faffing') and then its off to do some field archery this evening Check out my character here!
