AgentsSka :: The Quest for the Spartan Trifecta Begins

I did order and receive the Four Hour Work Week.  I skimmed the jacket cover.  Does that count for progress?  No?  Damn.

Yes, yes it does.  It's more than most people read in a week.

Deadlift - 115 x 10

...

Crunches - have I mentioned how much I freaking hate crunches? - 20

Dead lifts and crunches?  SQUEEEEEE

crunches love you!  Love them back.

I AM going the distance

'Cause all I wanna do is go the distance. Nobody's ever gone the distance with Creed, and if I can go that distance, you see, and that bell rings and I'm still standin', I'm gonna know for the first time in my life, see, that I weren't just another bum from the neighborhood.

Right there with on the crunches, Ska! The hate, the hate! But, that looks like a way awesome workout though!

So, lemme get this straight, you polished off a bottle of wine the night before your race and you still finished with a 7:24 pace? That fucking rocks!

I'm with cline, ordering the book and skimming the jacker cover counts as progress.

Because it is a circuit, it is a pretty great workout.  My run back to work this morning was painful.

When you say it like that (re: the race), I guess it is pretty good.  I wasn't feeling that great about it, initially.  Then that stupid couple of Sam Adams medal perked me up a bit.  But, I still need more race experience so I can hit it better.

Good weekend though.

Speaking of hard workouts... I am subscribed to the Spartan Workout of the Day emails.  I have a few saved in Evernote for future use.  Some are harder than others, obviously.  All usually have scaling for ability level.

But, this one came in made my jaw freaking drop.

Um, I think I could finish the 200 jumping jacks. Other than that...

I think I may have a new goal to add to my Epic Quest of Awesome ;)

Oh come on.  They didn't say you had to do it all at one time.

300 crunches?  that's a couple of minute.  split it w jumping jacks and side kicks.

Burpees?  that's a few minutes.  do 10 sets of 10 with a 30 sec rest.  Ain't gotta break records.  You can do this!

curls?  Dude, curls for the girls - do it!  You can crank out 50 curls in less than 50 mins taking rest!  I'd pair w extensions and you are done in 5 mis.

You can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Might require rehydration with beers but that's a given, right?

I AM going the distance

'Cause all I wanna do is go the distance. Nobody's ever gone the distance with Creed, and if I can go that distance, you see, and that bell rings and I'm still standin', I'm gonna know for the first time in my life, see, that I weren't just another bum from the neighborhood.

Oh, I'm going to do it.

But, I am going to do it in order.  And, 300 crunches are not just a couple of minutes for me... yet.  I'm not Croman.  I don't generally do crunches because of the hatred.  And, you are right - it doesn't say what weight needs to be on the weight bearing exercises.  But, it's still a fucking hard-core workout!

The email did continue on to say:

The above rep counts would be for an elite athlete looking to have more than the requisite power to navigate our courses. The Spartan 1500, as written above, is a muscular endurance super-charger. It's not impossible to do the above workout in 1 hour, but you'll have to go through hell to do it. You can divide all the rep counts by 10 and still have an effective workout. Always scale a workout based upon your current level. Maintaining proper form is far superior than pushing out a few sloppy last reps.

But, I want the workout in it's entirety.  And, for some reason - maybe because it is in list form, at some point I want to do all the reps in the order shown.  But, yes, I'd be mixing up reps with various exercises.

See, I read it to mean 100 reps in a set in that order making it seem less doable. But, #2 there on the list is the one that would take me a while. Even broken up into multiple sets. Which is good. Gives me something to shoot for.

Yeah, it would have to be modified slightly for paleo folk.  I just can't bring myself to that right now.

I also had two Boulder Beer Mojo IPA's.  Good stuff.

Running photos are hardly ever flattering.  This one, from Saturday's race, is no exception.

BridgeBack10k_2013_2lo.jpg

Coming down the bridge.  This is just before the Mile 5 marker.  I'm not liking my arm position.  I'm going to have to focus on my form on today's run and see if that's "normal" height.  I believe my arms should be at more of a 90Ëš angle.  Although, it could just be an optical illusion from the untucked shirt.  Ah, well.  Whatever.

Still a good pic.  And you liar, sometimes I take not-terrible running photos.  The best one was from Run For Your Lives last year but I did not save/buy it and it seems to be gone forever.  But it was totally cool you guys should believer me I'm cool like the coolest.

Pics or it didn't happen!
