MsFitz
Main Quest: To have my family become healthier and more active together. Goals: 1. Eat Paleo for dinner at least FIVE nights a week. 2. Take a walk or bike ride as a whole family at least THREE nights a week. 3. Do an outdoor activity together every weekend. My Motivation: They are right there in my profile picture! I want them to learn to live a healthy lifestyle now, so they do not struggle later in life. 1 “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.†― Henry Ford Epic Quest First Challenge Second Challenge Third Challenge Link to comment

MsFitz
We have already kicked it up a notch! We found a zombie 5k in October and the kids really want to do it! Download the couch to 5k app on our phones and we're going to start training this evening. sngraves
That's awesome! I love the C25K app. Just remember, it might suck those first couple of runs but it's so worth it! Just keep a Dori mentality about it and you'll be outrunning zombies in no time! Level 1 Human AdventurerSTR:1 DEX:1 STA:1 CON:2 WIS:2 CHA:1My Challenge Thread! Link to comment
MsFitz
Starting tomorrow! I also start work tomorrow after two months off, so this is going to be quite the balancing act for a bit. Luckily, my crockpot is ready for all kinds of yummy Paleo dinners. “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.†― Henry Ford Epic Quest First Challenge Second Challenge Third Challenge Link to comment

MsFitz
Day 1 dinner was a success! I roasted a turkey and made brussel sprouts to go with it.Tomorrow we do our Couch25k app. Today was also my first day back to work, so it was a bit crazy and we didn't eat dinner until 8, but I got it done. Personally, I did day one of the Stronglifts 5X5 program. I honestly did not think I would even be able to lift the bar, but I did all of day one. BONUS: I was talking about the zombie 5k to some other teachers today and a few were interested in doing it as well!! “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.†― Henry Ford Epic Quest First Challenge Second Challenge Third Challenge Link to comment
MsFitz
Today was a tough one! No food left in the house to cook and I would normally resort to fast food or pizza. However, THIS challenge was in my mind the whole time. I still wanted to give my kids a good dinner. So, of to the store I went. Now my shrimp is in the oven, my husband is cooking up some steaks for everyone else (I can't do red meat yet lol), corn is on the stove, and my 12 year old is making a huge salad! I'm tired, but glad I went! “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.†― Henry Ford Epic Quest First Challenge Second Challenge Third Challenge Link to comment
gxeninjo
Good job not resorting to fast food. That is a huge temptation. It's great that your 12 year old is helping by making salad, at that age I would never have done that. And I think it's great that more people in the family are helping make dinner. It sounds like you are setting up your kids to be comfortable in the kitchen, and that's great. MsFitz
She really shined! Not only did she make an awesome salad, she found a recipe for a vinegarette dressing and made that too. It was very yummy! “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.†― Henry Ford Epic Quest First Challenge Second Challenge Third Challenge Link to comment
MsFitz
Just found out that corn is not Paleo. Oops Still a pretty healthy dinner though. “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.†― Henry Ford Epic Quest First Challenge Second Challenge Third Challenge Link to comment
MsFitz
Ok, the kids were not home Sunday and they are not home tonight. We also went out last night, so that only makes 4 Paleo dinners this week. I can't feed them if they are not here though, so I'm not going to take that one too hard. Maybe I'll just do 6 nights next week. “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.†― Henry Ford Epic Quest First Challenge Second Challenge Third Challenge Link to comment
sngraves
4 out of 7 nights isn't bad! So long as you continue to make healthy choices on those days that you aren't eating Paleo, I think you'll be fine. Level 1 Human AdventurerSTR:1 DEX:1 STA:1 CON:2 WIS:2 CHA:1My Challenge Thread! MsFitz
Thanks! I actually only ended up with 4 again this week due to unforseen circumstances. I planned a night to eat out before school started and ordering in pizza on Friday, which would have left me with my 5 paleo days. Then my son fell and hit his head Saturday evening and we needed to take him to the ER. (He is fine, but it was the biggest goose egg I have ever seen!) My other kids ending up at a neighbor's for dinner and my husband, son, and I ended up at taco bell at my son's request lol. Right back to it last night with blackberry porkchops YUM, and tonight's mexican chicken has been in the crockpot all day just waiting for us. For myself, I haven't been doing Couch25k, but I'll be back at it this week. My shins feel much better. I have been doing StrongLifts 5x5 and am up to session 6! Getting stronger and my pants are a bit big around the waist! “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.†― Henry Ford Epic Quest First Challenge Second Challenge Third Challenge Link to comment
MsFitz
#2 is not working out. I just picked the wrong time of the year for this. By the time we get home from school, it is pouring down rain. I started a challenge with outdoor activity during rainy season lol.
