fluffyrin42
This new challenge format is coming at a pretty ideal time for me... Main Quest: Become the Best Pre-Mama I CanI am somewhat terrified to put this out into the universe, because it makes it real... but it will drive all of my goals for the foreseeable future, so here goes: my husband and I are trying to become parents. It's scary and exciting and above all else, shining a glaring light on all of our weaknesses as grown-ups. So this quest is all about stepping up to become best the mama I can be. Since I am just at the very beginning of this path, my goals are to set myself up for some healthy baby growin'. Mission 1: Be a Strong Role ModelI have been working the last two challenges to build up my fitness base and I want to continue building as long as I can. Hopefully this will translate into a green light once I start baby growing to continue working out and being active. My goal this challenge is to be physically active 5 times a week (anything that gets my muscles working).5 Points to be divided amongst STR, DEX, and STA depending on what I feel improved most.A: >90%B: 80-89%C: 70-79%D: 60-69%F: <59% Mission 2: Be a Healthy Role ModelI noticed last challenge that my eating habits are relatively good, but I'm pretty sure that my workouts were being negatively affected by insufficient fueling. I eat mostly healthy foods, but I want to really focus this challenge on making sure I'm getting enough of the right foods to get stronger and, you know, eventually grow a human. My goal is to track all of my foods to ensure I'm getting what I need each day. Will update with calories and rough macro targets before the challenge starts, but emphasis is on complete tracking for now.+2 WIS, +2 CONA: >90%B: 80-89%C: 70-79%D: 60-69%F: <59% Mission 3: Model Good BehaviorI am the first to admit that I lack many of the "good habit" characteristics that I would hope to one day pass onto a kid. So now is the time to start building those habits. In this challenge I want to maintain a morning and bedtime routine. AM: Brush teeth, floss, wash face, sunscreenPM: Brush teeth, floss, wash face, take vitamins, actually clean contacts Each routine will be counted separately (so if I miss my morning routine, I'll still get credit for a PM routine).+2 CON, +2 CHA (everybody likes a fresh smile better, right?)A: >90%B: 80-89%C: 70-79%D: 60-69%F: <59% Supplemental Mission:With another mouth to feed comes extra expenses. My goal this challenge is to re-baseline our household monthly budget with Mr. Rin and get back on track towards building our savings. For now, I'll plan on grading this somewhat subjectively.+2 WIS FluffyRin -- Ranger (Level 4)STR 4 | DEX 3 | STA 4.5 | CON 10 | WIS 10 | CHA 6Challenges: 1, 2, 3, 4, Current Link to comment

Paisley
Ohhhhh so exciting (sorry I'm a little baby mad - can't help myself). I can say its definitely worth getting in shape for. Pregnancy was so much easier with my first when I was actually fit and healthy than with my second where I had let myself go a little - and 4 years later I'm still paying the price for that second pregnancy - argghhhh the stretch marks and flabbyness. great goals you've set there. Good luck! Level 6, Ranger Challenge I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, Current Challenge My Sewing Blog Link to comment
chickie.monkey
Great looking challenge and congrats on taking the biggest grown up step ever! I totally admire you for wanting to get your shiz together (as much as possible) before bringing a tiny human into the world. That right there makes you a great role model, IMO. Good luck! Haha! Thanks for following along. I've heard time and again that being fit up front helps huge amounts, so I'm doing what I can to build a solid foundation. I also know that I might run risks for needing bed rest based on my mom, so I'm hoping to avoid that as much as possible. fluffyrin42
Ok - pre challenge update (and rant against the denim industry). This weekend was something of a huge nightmare/bust. I woke up on Saturday with a monster migraine and wound up sleeping most of the day. I felt a little better on Sunday, but it was drizzly so we decided to knock out some shopping that has been put off. Namely, I had to get a pair of jeans. I blew out the knees on two of my three pairs of jeans a few months ago, and discovered a hole in the crotch of my last pair a couple of weeks ago. I've been getting away with it by dressing up more for work, but I got tired of sticking my foot out through the knee of my pants whenever I got dressed for chores/around the house. I hate shopping for jeans. Loath it. Would rather be drown in the ocean. But I love my husband because he dragged me around to 2 malls and probably 30 stores before we finally found a pair that didn't squeeze my thighs into oblivion while still gaping so far in the back that you could store a beach ball in the back of my pants. Next on my sewing conquer list: pants. So that some day I can just make my own freaking jeans. Also, god bless "super curves" jeans. Without them, my underwear would be forever relegated to be on display in denim. It pretty much wiped out the entire day, so needless to say, the food prep I'd hoped to accomplish for this week didn't happen. Tonight, a run and making food is at the absolute top of my list. Because I can't do another day of restaurant/pre-processed meals. My belly is staging a category 3 revolt. </rant> In other news, it isn't 90 degrees here! I am very much looking forward to my run this afternoon. FluffyRin -- Ranger (Level 4)STR 4 | DEX 3 | STA 4.5 | CON 10 | WIS 10 | CHA 6Challenges: 1, 2, 3, 4, Current Link to comment
