Week 1 / Day 3 Summary:

Mission 1 Strong (2/5): Took a rest day.  My hips are just KILLING me today!

Mission 2 Healthy (3/7): Tracking complete.

Total Calories: 1844 - actually, really low considering I ate cake.  Missing breakfast put me way behind the 8 ball.

Protein: 59g

Fat: 81g

Carbs: 208g

Mission 3 Good Behavior (6/14): Did both routines!

Supplemental Budgeting: This is on the list for this weekend.  Don't see much changing in the next two days.

OMG.  Between sprints with the mutt and squats the next day, I have this pinching pain in my hips that just will NOT go away.  I've tried every form of smashing, mashing, couch stretching, and pretzeling I can come up with.  Holy monkies I hope it gets better soon.  It's like walking around with shark week cramps ALL THE TIME!

My wife agrees that being fit makes a big difference in how easy the pregnancy goes.  She's made five kids (she's very crafty) and was at various stages of fit and unfit.  Even I could notice the difference in how she was able to handle it.  And I'm pretty oblivious.

And like others have said, I can confirm that she was able to keep on with what she was doing up until the end.  As long as you have been doing a particular exercise from the beginning, you should be able to keep doing it while pregnant (barring complications, of course).  You just can't get pregnant and then say "Uh, oh.  Need to get in shape."  So, good job getting prepared now.

Don't skip breakfast.  It really hits you in the metabolism dept.  Speaking of exercising and pregnancy, I know a couple of gals from college who were training for a half marathon when they found out they were pregnant and were able to compete.  Their doctors said that since that was the normal activity for their body at the time, it shouldn't be a problem.

It is crazy.  I know I want my kid in the best schools we can afford, but at the same time, I can't help but wonder if it's really worth it when they can barely hold up their heads.  So many decisions...

That's what I keep hearing.  Hopefully the work I'm putting in now pays off!  :)

I was hurting all day.  It was bad.  I definitely got my breakfast today!  As for exercise, my doc basically said the same thing... with the added caveat of "don't push it into your extreme HR zones" but other than that, I was given an initial green light.  At this stage I'm just trying to get in as good of shape as I can before I get pregnant.

Yeah - I've been stretching and massaging as much as I can.  I opted to take another day off - sitting at my desk all day seems to really be aggravating it, so I'm glad I only have a half day today!

Week 1 / Day 3 Summary:

Mission 1 Strong (2/5): Took another rest day.  I was actually planning to go for a run after work, but we had company over and I was running super late with traffic on the way home.  Guess I'll have to run at the lake this weekend... shucks. ;)

Mission 2 Healthy (4/7): Tracking complete.

Total Calories: 1916 - much better balance today.

Protein: 103g

Fat: 81g

Carbs: 184g

Mission 3 Good Behavior (7/14): Didn't really do the morning routine.  Brushed my teeth, but was running late.

Supplemental Budgeting: This is on the list for this weekend.  Don't see much changing in the next two days.

Heading out for the mountains today.  Don't expect much internet, so there may be a mass update on Monday, but I am SO excited to get away for the weekend!

Looking forward to hearing about the mountains and the lake run!

In the meantime, I'll go stand in front of my freezer with the door open, close my eyes and visualize my little shack in the pines, chanting, "There's no place like home, there's no place like home." Ah, to be somewhere other than Phoenix in the summertime...

All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity:

but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.

Hope you have fun on your weekend - maybe some relaxing will help your hip feel better! :)

Week 1 / Day 2 Summary:

Mission 1 Strong (2/5): Did a bit of bodywork training.  It was a bit chaotic because I was trying to bake a birthday cake for my husband and it cooked way faster than I had anticipated.  Resulted in my workout getting cut a little short.  But it felt good to be doing strength again!

Air Squats x 20 / Incline Push-ups (3rd stair) x 15 - 3 rounds

Russian Deadlifts x 10 / Dumbbell Rows (15lb) x 20 - 1 round

Mission 2 Healthy (1/7): Tracking complete.

Total Calories: 2399 - really high compared to normal, but 600 of that was cake.  Yay birthdays!

Protein: 105g

Fat: 91g

Carbs: 278g (chocolate cake totally did me in here)

Mission 3 Good Behavior (2/14): Did both morning and bedtime routines.  Need to find a different sunscreen for my face, though.  I think just using regular sunscreen is starting to make my skin irritated.

Supplemental Budgeting: No progress yet, but totally inspired by Jess.  So I have big plans here!   :)

I've also been trying to keep up with my cleaning habit from last challenge.  The last two days haven't been great and my kitchen is really showing it.  Tonight I plan to get things whipped back into shape there so that it isn't a disaster area when we leave for the lake this weekend!

Hope your budgeting goes better than mine. All those plans I made? Kinda didn't happen this Friday. Oh well, at least I have a frame work ready to go. D:

Enjoy your time in the mountains! And based on these colorful descriptions of foam rolling you all aren't convincing me to get one. >.>

Have fun on your mountain adventure! A break from sitting at your desk all day may fix that hip too.

OMG.  I feel sooooo much better.  Granted, now my hips are sore from hiking.  But it's a sore I can deal with!

Laughed really hard at this! Not at your pain, but at your wonderful word use! Hope the hip pain has gone away. Looks like a great first week. Have a nice weekend at the lake!

Hehe... I tell ya.  My husband was beginning to think I was losing it for all the random stuff I was trying to get it to loosen up.  :)

It was terrible.  Awful I tell ya.  (OMG, can I go back now?!)

I promise I won't tell you how awesome the weather was.  If it makes you feel better, a thunderstorm hailed on us during the drive home!  :)

LOL!  Phoenix in summer has got to be brutal.  My grandparents used to live in Tucson and I remember just living in the pool whenever we would visit.

I know right?  I live in Tempe and went to CO for the weekend.  The second I got back to the oven I was crying wishing I could get back to the mountains!

GAAHHHH!!  OMG!  It's awesome.  And terrifying.  And we'll see how well this goes.  Luckily the "good example" premise is helping my motivation about a million!  :)

Oh no!  Yeah... our budgeting talks got a bit derailed by some movie cuddling instead.  :-/  It's a new week, though - right?!

And as for the foam roller, it's painful - but man it feels so good when you're done.

Week 1 / Weekend Update!

Ok, I won't breakdown a daily update for you guys, but here is the final summary of the week:

Mission 1 Strong (4/5): Friday we walked around the little town where we were staying, but it wasn't very far and we weren't exactly power walking so I'm not going to count it.  Saturday we went on a 10 mile hike - it was amazing.  The hike itself was probably the most demoralizing hike I've done in a while (never ending switchbacks and a trail guide that said it was only a 3.3 mile ascent that turned into 5), but the views at the top were incredible.  I'll post pics once I get a chance to download them.  Yesterday I went for a 1.5 mile run.  We got back late due to traffic, but I really wanted to get out so that my legs wouldn't be too stiff today.  Total time: 13:48.

Mission 2 Healthy (7/7): Woot!  Managed to keep up with this one over the weekend.  Had to make some guesses for restaurant food, but we ate in a lot - which helped.

Total Calories: Fri - 2022; Sat - 2593; Sun - 1984

Protein: Fri - 51g; Sat - 88g; Sun - 80g

Fat: Fri - 97g; Sat - 130g; Sun - 108g

Carbs: Fri - 115g; Sat - 289g; Sun - 180g

Mission 3 Good Behavior (13/14): I was pleasantly surprised with this one.  On Saturday all I wanted to do was fall into bed, but I was good and still did my bedtime routine.

Supplemental Budgeting: Totally slacked on talking over this one with the husband.  Need to get on that ASAP.
