Captain Solo
I've always liked Star Trek's Klingons.Their warrior culture and strict honor code always make me feel at home. I myself am the product of a warrior culture: I am an Army Veteran, my father was federal Law Enforcement, and my grandfather and his brother served in WWII and Korea. And it seems to make more sense than trying to decide whether or not the Prime Directive applies to a given situation. So this challenge will be Klingon themed! While I'll never fully recover from the injuries I sustained in the military and may never again be the warrior I once was, I am not now the leader that I could be. A leader should be physically and mentally prepared to overcome any obstacle or hardship. Mortikar
Hey Solo, I can only imagine the comradarie that comes with the military community. I'm proud to have you and your family serving our country in so many ways. Those pushups look intense. I think I'd like to do a few, in a year or so perhaps. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress! -Mort Link to comment

Captain Solo
That workout sounds intense! Best of luck to you! Yeah, it's a modification of the Combat Readyness workout I designed for my platoon in the Army. We would do all this in PT gear with helmets and body armor. gnometosser
! Good luck recovering from that annoying shoulder muscle-pull! Also your workout seems quite good! It reminds me of the morning trainings I had when I was in the German armed forces... Kudos, and I wish you luck that your second week will be as good as the first. Captain Solo
Today's workout had a bit of a change-up. Finished helping my Mom-in-Law with her landscaping. So instead of burpees and pushups, I was squatting logs and dead-lifting tree stumps. Good luck recovering from that annoying shoulder muscle-pull! Also your workout seems quite good! It reminds me of the morning trainings I had when I was in the German armed forces... Kudos, and I wish you luck that your second week will be as good as the first. I didn't know you were an Armed Forces veteran also! Good to meet a fellow Warrior from across the pond! gnometosser
Very versatile training. You seem to be eager to include a workout in the chore! Very creative!Oh, not a veteran, really. I was in the armed forces, yes, but never in the field. It was "only" conscription. I had my 15 months of service, and did them gladly. Health is more than the absence of sickness! Link to comment
Captain Solo
You served, Gnome, that's what counts! All the heavy landscaping is done now, so I'm back to my regularly scheduled workout. Is it me, or does this workout seem to be getting easier? Mortikar
Hey solo, how are those pushups coming along? I haven't been doing my TRX at allllll D: no bueno. But I'm still losing, so that's good. How you been? Link to comment
Captain Solo
Been good. Helped a friend move yesterday, so I've essentially been doing heavy weights for two days straight. I'm taking today off!Starting tomorrow, I'm gonna start mixing in some parkour and hardcore plyometrics. Box jumps and clapping pushups instead of burpees, twisting lunges, more bear-crawls.I've put on about 10 lbs of muscle, mostly in my chest, so pullups are actually getting harder. I think I may have to go easy on pullups anyway, because of the scar tissue in my upper back. If I try to do too much, I could tear a muscle, and that would really set me back. I'm thinking I'll do bicep curls and parallel pullups for now. Captain Solo
Challenge Summary: My QuestBe mentally and physically prepared to lead my family into the ever-changing future My GoalsDesign and implement a sustainable plyometric workoutDo 6 Rocky Push-UpsDesign and implement a weekly meal planner (instead of just eating whatever I find first) Life QuestOrganize the family finances I have pushed the limits of my understanding of myself and the world and I am better for it. I am now better prepared physically and mentally to lead my family into the ever-changing future. This is a continual process, and not for the faint of heart. As sharks must continually move forward or else drown, so we must continue to challenge ourselves and push our limits or else we will suffocate under the pressures of life. I have completed 2 of my 3 goals: - Design and implement a sustainable plyometric workout - Design and implement a weekly meal planner (instead of just eating whatever I find first) - I was able to do 4 Rocky Push-Ups (okay, 3-and-1/2). But now I have a better understanding of my abilities and limits for the next challenge! Organizing the family finances is another continual process, but I have set a good foundation for the future. I've been in for 11 years now, the most recent 5 of which have been in the Infantry. When did you go to Ranger school? Yes, I was Infantry. Injured my back in Jump School and was discharged during the big troop draw-down in 2011. I never made it to Ranger school, but I still live the Ranger Creed.
