Yay! We be three!

There's a trail running training program that I want to be able to get into. It requires that you can keep up at least a 13 minute mile for 5+ miles on the road. That is a super long way away for me, so for now I enjoy nature slowly. Like a banana slug.

Hi All!

There was an open spot on this group, so I jumped in!

I've done a couple mudruns (WDx2, Devil Dash, Survivor Mud Run, Tough Mudder), and love trailrunning, hiking, camping.

I'm planning on getting into backpacking this year, and just need to pester my friend to teach me.

I just moved to Seattle from Boulder, so not being able to literally walk out my door & be on a trail is frustrating, but there's some awesome ones around, and I just need to make a point to get out there.

If there's still a slot open, can I call dibs?  I've got credentials, I just got back from the Grand Tetons, in fact, I've got my tent airing out in a back room at the office today!

I've also got a Go Ruck in November that I need to start getting ready for.

The path to Swolehalla is paved with a lot of Swolehate, and you won't get there without being Swole of Spirit too.

Looks like everyone is doing good with their challenges so far.  I have enjoyed visiting everyone's challenge and seeing the different goals that people have.  So many different goals and dreams.  It makes me want to go out and train for everything...except maybe the strongman.  I can not see myself pulling a semi or lifting and moving the things they do.  Not sure about the GoRuck either, gives me flashbacks of Basic Training.

MaxPower--aside from the feet problems, how did you enjoy the Grand Tetons?  It is on my list of places to go.

Good luck everyone and I look forward to following you along this journey as we rock this Challenge.

Yeah, one of the things about strongman is that you need a good bit of endurance added to the mix, not just straight strength.  So carrying a heavy pack over long distances has some crossover to that.    I debated with myself for about a week on whether I wanted to do the GoRuck or not, it's a nerd meetup so that's the only real reason I agreed, and since it's a team effort I want to be able to do my part too.

I love the Tetons, this was my second time going out there, but I didn't get to do much hiking the first time.  We had hoped to try and summit the Middle Teton, but there was still a good bit of ice up there and we weren't really prepared or experienced with that so we opted out of it.

Wait you've done/are doing GoRuck??? It's my life goal right now.  The team aspect of it is what drew me in, but the fact most of my friends think it's an insane idea means I def. have to do it.

What is this GoRuck that you all speak of? I'm a little scared to google it.

It's pretty sick.  You basically get a leader or cadre and he tells you what to do.  The cadres are all ex-special forces so really intense.

You are also required to carry a GoRuck bag around with you with any gear you might want and 4-6 bricks based on your weight.

The group will also end up picking up random things, like fallen trees, or rocks that they need to keep with them.

Throughout the challenge you most likely will have to do; lunges, squats, push ups, buddy carries, indian runs, caterpillar push ups, etc.

I had a friend that observed a challenge for a bit, the group she followed around had 30 people, two of which were women, so I plan on changing that.

30 people was a lot bigger group than I thought.  I was thinking squad size which is about 10 to 12 people.  It does give me basic training and ROTC camp flashbacks....I had a blast in basic training by the way.  It does sound like a lot of fun although Special Forces guys are a breed all their own.  Stay upright and good luck with your training!  And now I have to go google caterpillar push up....

The caterpillar push ups they use are the entire group is in a line and you put your feet on the person behind's shoulders.  The whole group has to get off the ground and once.

OMG I can't imagine a line of 30 doing that! INSANE!
