sammiejune29
Challenge #4 Final points and grading decided Main Goal- I want to be a better assassin. This means that:- I want to be able to move around comfortably in my environment and not awkwardly and clumsily.- Ultimately I want to be able to play with my future kids on a playground. Jumping and running around like they will be able to do.Goal #1 - BW Workouts 3x's a Week- I want to keep this up though its going to be difficult over the coming weeks because I got a lot going on- I'm going to have to have strong muscles if I'm going to be able to move myself around my environment betterPossible Points: 3 STR, 1 DEX, 1 STAGrading: 16+ is an A with full points.- I have a crazy busy life so I'm allowing myself 2 misses.Goal #2 - Jumping practice - 5 min sessions, 5x's a week (30 total)- I'm terrified of jumping on anything that is taller than a step.- I want improvement in how high I can jump onto something and being less afraid of it.- I want to be able to jump onto things like a real assassin (and like Daniel can)- I'm also going to add jumping over things, tuck jumps, broad jumps and working on precision with jumping- I can do multiple jumping sessions in one day if I want but no more than 2 sessions in one day shall count- Sessions have to be at different times during the day (10 min at one time is not 2 sessions)- 5 min is a rough guideline. Its to prevent me from spending 10 sec on jumping and calling it a session.Possible Points: 3 DEX, 1 WIS, 1 CHAGrading: 30 sessions (mostly spread out over the 6 weeks) = AGoal #3 - 6 new recipes (preferably mostly paleo recipes)- If I'm going to be an assassin I need to eat well so that I can have an amazing physique- Eating well leads to weighing less which will make it easier to move in my environment- I need to eat out less and in order to do that I have to get more comfortable with a greater number of recipes- I'd like to do 1 new recipe a week but when I'm home with my family is not a good time to try out new recipes (they are very set in their ways and love their bread) Besides the purpose of this goal is for me to get more comfortable cooking for myself when I'm at my home with Daniel. That being said, doing 6 recipes all in the last week of this challenge will not recieve full credit. They must be somewhat spaced out over the course of the challenge, but not necessarily 1 per week.Possible Points: 4 CON, 1 WISGrading: 6+ new recipes: A / 4-5 new recipes: B / 2-3 new recipes: C / 1 new recipe: D / 0 new recipes: F-deductions from there based on how spread out or not they are over the course of the challengeLife Goal - NONE- I'm really happy with where my life is right now. I am starting my own company, working for 2 other startups and absolutely loving it. I've decided (Well, with a little help from Wolverine) that I'm not going to have a life goal this time around and focus on my other goals Starting Stats:Height: 5'9"Weight: 161 lbsMore starting stats to come.Pics as promised! Nymeria
Yay! You made your thread. For the jumping, one of the easiest ways to start is to jump over very soft objects or jump up onto things where you have some sort of rail to use as an assist. So, a good start might be to jump up stairs while keeping a hand on the railing until you're comfortable enough to let go of the railing and just do the jump. I'm glad you're keeping your challenge nice and simple, since you're already so busy. Level 30? who the hell knows anymore? Nymeria
For your second goal, maybe the best way to start would be to add some jumping moves to your BW workouts for the first couple weeks. Maybe you could start with broad jumps (start standing, and then jump as far as you can with both feet together), high jumps (try to touch the ceiling), and tuck jumps (jump while bringing your knees in front of you and as high as you can get them. GymnasticsWOD probably has demos of these jumps, if you're not sure what to do. This way, you can directly strengthen your jumping muscles and maybe get a better idea of your comfort zones with jumping. Keep in mind that the tuck jump is the one most closely related to jumping over stuff. Level 30? who the hell knows anymore? sammiejune29
So I've updated my challenge description a bit. But these are things I'm still struggling with. Jumping GoalI'm still struggling on how to structure and grade the jumping goal. I could set goals like "be able to jump so far" but I really have no idea what I'm capable of in a 6 week period so I worry about setting unreachable goals or too easy goals. I could do something like "5 - 5 minute sessions per week spent on jumping" This is the option I'm leaning towards. I worry about remembering to write down whether I did it or not since this has been more of a problem for me in the past than remembering to do the actual activity. BW workout & Recipe Goals - updated (see above post)I feel pretty good about these goals. I feel like they are to the point where they are solid and I'm happy with them. Life GoalI'm still struggling to figure out a good life goal. And its not cause I don't have goals. I think its because I'm actually really really happy with where I am right now. I am starting my own company. I have part-time jobs with two startups which I absolutely love. I am seeing a great nerdy athletic guy. I love my new town house. I mean I could have a goal towards getting the last of the around the house stuff done. All the organizing and putting away the random things that still don't have homes. But I want to do that anyway. But if I don't make it a goal maybe I will procrastinate on it until after school starts again and I don't have time. I don't know. But I feel like all of my life goals thus far have been related to cleaning and moving. So is it a cop out to have another goal related to making my house more livable? But this is something I constantly struggle to make time for. Especially with moving. Most of the stuff is unpacked and put away but the stuff that isn't is the stuff that I don't know what to do with and that I've been avoiding. Some of it is stuff that needed to be gone through and organized when we lived at our old place. So if I did do this type of a goal, I'm not sure how I would grade it. I'm open to any ideas and thoughts related to this. (Sorry for more of less thinking "out loud") But there are certain aspects of my life that I want to keep far away from goals. I already put enough pressure on myself to do things to a high standard and more pressure (even from something like NF) is not going to help me achieve anything but would be more likely to hinder me. Pictures!!I have a few pictures to share! Daniel helped me buy a set of dumbbells for my birthday!! I'm so excited and I'm loving them so much already. No more spending half my workout taking ankle/wrist weights on and off. Yay! Also, this is our garden plot at our new town house. Its not looking too bad. And yes, that is a pineapple in the middle of the plot I'm also especially excited about the purple basil (which is quite delicious!) I missed your last challenge cause I just got so darn busy but I'm looking forward to following you again this time around And I'm afraid of falling/hurting myself but I'm excited to conquer my fear. After all, I think it just takes practice. Good luck! I'm not a very confident jumper either, so I'm excited to see how you tackle it. Thanks Lex!! I'm excited too Great goals! I really like the 1 new recipe a week goal. Being able to cook your own food is liberating and does wonders for your diet. Thanks! Its not so much not being able to cook as it is being too lazy to try new things and being sick of all the things that I know how to cook. Lol. Either way, I'm excited for new foods! Thanks Aeryn!! I was quite surprised myself I knew I had made a lot of progress since the last pics I took because of how my clothes fit but in all the crazy moving madness I didn't take pics for over a month. At least that way you see drastic progress. Lol Life goals are really hard. Not sure if I want to get out more. I go out a few times a week. And I don't really have time for more. I already end up turning down some social engagements because I don't have time to do everything. Trying new things, old hobbies or things that I haven't made time for recently are difficult because my schedule is still going to be crazy busy. But I very very much appreciate all the suggestions. Last challenge I really missed being on here and updating my thread and giving others support. Maybe my goal could be around that. Not being on here made it harder for me to focus on my goals and it showed in my performance (I think) Level 7 Half-Elf AssassinSTR: 22.5 | DEX: 13.75 | STA: 15.75 | CON: 18.5 | WIS: 17 | CHA: 12 Challenges: First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Unchallenge, Seventh Link to comment

Nymeria
Be careful with the 5 minute jumping sessions. You'll be surprised at how much even a single minute of continuous jumping will wipe you out. It might be more manageable to pick a few types of jumps and then add them to or substitute them for some leg stuff in your BW workout. If you go ahead with the time based goal, make sure you break the 5 minutes up into manageable chunks of time, and then give yourself some rest periods between. Level 30? who the hell knows anymore?
