Good luck on your goals!  Do you have a particular place you want to move?

Definitely the coast, ideally west. But, wherever it is, it's got to be pretty!

A pretty good day one:

Goal 1: fantastic crock pot chicken made a great dinner and tons of leftovers, and I prepped all the little tupperwares of toppings and fixings (which I always think of as "panchan" in homage to the genius of Korean cuisine) ready for a week of salad making.

Goal 2: well, my cardio-weight class was light on the weights today, as in no weights. So, I guess it counts for endurance, but not for one of my x3 strength workouts. Boo.

Goal 3: okay, nothing really accomplished on the household front. Yet!

Goal 4:  1 day down on the "mostly productive count." I got a late start, but then I smoked it!

Hope everyone's off to a great start!

Way to squeeze in that productivity at the end of the day.  That's when I really (really, really) struggle - mucho props to you for rocking out the end of the day!

And yum crockpot chicken!  Did you do a whole chicken or just chicken breasts?

Argh, productivity goal taking a hit today. Woke up to a dead a/c. The repair folks can't come until 6pm, and I don't want to leave my poor sick cat inside the hot house--it got up to 85 before I opened all the windows and switched on the attic fan. I'm going to make one more attempt to start it, then close up the house long enough to go to work and collect something I can work on at home. This kind of screws my evening workout plans too. Bah! I hate living in Texas, land of central air conditioning! And, boy do I hope that my 20+ yo hvac is going to live to fight another day.

I love paleopot for crock pot recipes!

+1 for paleopot! I love the pork fried rice recipe we found there.

Thanks, JD. I tell you, when it rains it pours: $1000 and counting for the cat, $1000 likely for replacing the shower pan and retiling, and now the hvac. Owning a house is like living in a ticking time bomb.

AND...my hvac is fubar. Dead. Time to collect estimates on replacement, but last numbers mentioned when I thought I was facing this were north of $7k. Fuck.my.life.

Yep, $7,000 was the first estimate. For those playing at home, that's now $9,000 and counting in unplanned expenses incurred in the last 10 days. I haven't even heard yet what the cat's treatment is going to cost. .. the diagnosis cost a grand.

For my non-existent gratitude journal: I'm very grateful that the past five years of careful saving and frugality has made it possible for me to be able to care for my sick pet and repair my sick house without recourse to credit cards or debt. But, universe? If you're listening? Can you leave me alone for a little while now? Haven't you beat up on me enough in July, can you just take a break for the month of August? 'Kay, thanks.

No exercise today, though I did drive to the gym to float in the pool for 20 minutes at the end of the day. Also, I totally drank a Margarita. And I don't care.

Sending lots of love, positive thoughts, and internet hugs your way, Mac. Good lord, you deserve multiple margaritas today for all of this.

Okay, I think I've gotten half a grip. Thanks for listening to me vent yesterday (I did warn you!). I calmed myself down by looking at recent house sales in my area, and I think I'll be able to absorb this hit and still walk at with like 25 cents. But, it is a good motivation to get working on The List, and get that sweat equity in gear!

I gots to get to the gym today, and I have a ton of work to blaze through as soon as I finish with my next hvac estimate appointment, so I should be good on the productivity front today. Yesterday was marginal, but I worked for 4 solid hours in the afternoon and it was a struggle to stay focused under the circumstances, so I'm going to call that a mostly productive day. Barely.

Remote hugs!!  Hopefully the second AC quote will be a little better.  For what it's worth, a brand new AC system will be a major bonus when it comes to selling your house... that coupled with the other improvements your doing?  Sellers will be quite excited to see the place.

Also, I 100% hear you on recent home prices - I almost died when we moved because of how low things were selling.  We wound up renting to a former coworker and in the 1.5 years, house prices have come up almost 15% - back to where we at least won't be losing money.  Good luck!  I know it's tough, but you'll get through this rough patch.  :)

I had a 900 sq foot bungalow that I lived in for 8 years and sold for slightly less than I paid. (Not as bad as it sounds but still...) Had I sold the house 2 years sooner I would have made a 50% profit. Note to self, break up with the less than perfect partner and meet the really awesome sooner next lifetime.

Some days you just have to say F it and have a margarita. Yesterday definitely qualifies. Here's to a highly productive day with low AC estimates!
