BlackWidowEowyn's Epic Quest for Awesome Continues

Main goal: be awesome. I would love to qualify for the CF games by the time I'm masters age. I feel like its entirely possible. (That would be 3 years from now.)

I was very inspired last week watching the Masters women compete in the CF games. And it inspired me to new heights... I want to be that awesome when I'm 40.

I may not have constant access to weights and a gym like I do now, but that small obstacle need not hinder me from this awesomeness, for I am an ASSASSIN! I can do epic things using only my bodyweight if necessary.

To this end I will

1- participate (read:dominate) in Barefoot Phylanx's burpee challenge, which means doing 100+ burpees daily for 42 days ... possible +3 STA, +3 STR

2- flexibility is vital for strength, gymnasts and weightlifters are some of the most flexible athletes out there. I have been slacking at this lately. Will be done 5-10 minutes every day, either yoga or stretching or both. (pre-workout stretching not included this needs to be above and beyond that)... possible +4 CON

3- I'm frustrated with my running. I feel like I'm getting slower, and it hinders the rest of my workout when it's included, so at least once a week speed work... possible +2 DEX

4- I've been letting life overwhelm me lately... daily meditation will help keep me centered and level, able to keep focused on what's really important... possible +1 CHA, +1 WIS

I'm thinking the burpee challenge is kind of like Godzilla vs Rodan...it will be the epic battle of the summer challenge.

heh.. yeah... I'll either really HATE burpees by the end of this or I'll love them 

right now I'm pretty much hating...

 

I'm with ya on the bendiness goal, I've got a similar one (more that I just do it than focusing on something specific). I am not, however, with ya on the burpee goal, you're welcome to keep those all to yourself :)

SO yeah

Burpees suck

but I did them every. single. day.

 

cause you know what? sometimes life sucks and we don't get to quit, just because it's uncomfortable...

so suck it up buttercup!

(this is me yelling at myself for motivational purposes... cause man they really sucked this week)

I did all the meditation. Some days this is no problem.. others I have a reeeeeally hard time controlling my flighty mind and focusing.

I also did all the stretchy bendy this week too :) feels sooooo good. 

 

 

I did NOT run this week. I kinda forgot about this one, what with all the burpees I was doing. There was a little sprinting in one warm up we did, but it wasn't enough to count. I don't want to leave this one out... I really need to improve my running

 

over all... a good week.

Reading over this post I see I need to change my attitude about these burpees or I'm never gonna make it all the way to the end of this.

so this week...

Meditation, and stretching - check and check

running... well I did it once. (I really don't like sprinting, especially when it's part of a circuit. But this is WHY i NEED to keep at it) My workout schedule this week was a bit crazy to include more, but starting next week I won't have access to a gym with weights (boohoo!!) for several weeks so I know this part of my challenge will improve. I tend to run more when I'm not around heavy things to lift :)

 

and burpees DO ALL the burpees. - check

I did em all anyway :) they actually are getting easier, or maybe I'm just getting used to them, or maybe I've finally gone completely crazy.... (It's been coming on for a while now)

 

Burpees and running and meditation yes... not so much on the stretching this week. And I can feel it. 

 

ah well

I solemnly promise myself to do better this week.

 

my biggest challenge in all of this is staying motivated to do all these dang burpees. So to combat that I'm gonna change my strategy a bit. I have been mostly doing them at night... which means I forget until about 9 and then go  ..."ugh. burpees!"

I think it helps when I get at least half of them done in the morning. I'm going to start using them as a warm up I think. Good way to get all loose and ready to rumble... 

I'm sorry for being kinda absent this week. I'm afraid its going to be worse for the next few weeks too... Limited internet access as well as less free time = less posting on here :) but I'm still rooting for you all!

Way to go on the burpees, that's impressive stick-to-itiveness, especially considering the exercise. I like the plan to break up the burpees through the day, seems much more reasonable that way. And I feel ya on the lack of stretching, I'm putting in the bare minimum for my stretching goal. I stand (bend?) in solidarity with you in the attempt to stretch more/better!


 


If you ever find yourself getting bored of regular burpees, you should try a

. It looks like so much fun! (ow, that actually hurt for me to type that...)
