You're at about 2x my push press 1RM, so I'm still impressed. Overhead lifts hate me too; I was really excited to get my jerk to 125 on Monday.

I don't jerk any more, so I have no idea what I'd get there.

Coach said OHP of all types is a "bitch" for women.  I told him "not acceptable" so now it's our mission to improve my OHP.  So every week it's push press, push press, BP, BP,  curse, curse.... lol.  I curse a lot on OHP and PP.

Yesterday I failed my first 110# attempt and cursed quietly.  But when I got it I did say "yeah!" at the top of the lift loudly enough for people nearby to hear.  ooops.  People at the gym don't like that.

I AM going the distance

'Cause all I wanna do is go the distance. Nobody's ever gone the distance with Creed, and if I can go that distance, you see, and that bell rings and I'm still standin', I'm gonna know for the first time in my life, see, that I weren't just another bum from the neighborhood.

Screw 'em. When they push press that much of their BW, they're allowed to bitch at you for making noise :D

I agree with LoD on this point.

And... Cline - you rocked this challenge!  I'm happy you decided to do it and I'm happier that you were able to find peace during it.

A W E S O M E ! !

thanks guys.  It made me sad for 1 second and then I repped more weight and might have put them down a bit harder just to make more noise.

cause I have no life other wise:

Last night Muay Thai!!! Heavy kick practice and by heavy I mean WTF???? AAAIEEEE we were dying.  3 min round, 3 min round, 2 min round then we had 3 punch/kick combos to work.

I worked with a great partner.  he's careful on technique but slow.  It's interesting to watch him.  He was coaching me on some kicks.  I really like him a lot.  But he's the sweater.  I'm pretty sure his sweat flew into my mouth.  Let me just say this:  sweat flinger with a mouthbreathing partner is kinda gross.  But we are all mouth breathers with our mouth guards in (I love my dentist but not that much).

Then I stuck around for sparring with my friends and I totally sucked.  Ugh.

But I stayed in for four 5 mins rounds even though I massively sucked.  I got a few good punches in but overall, suck.  but I did it.

It's hard to use the heavier gloves (16oz for sparring, 12 oz for class) and keep your arms up the the whole time after an hour of class and a shit ton of heavy pressing the night before.  I think I might work on endurance with arms up/punching when I run.  I shall look silly but my regular run route is sparsely populated.

I haven't talked much about this here but I developed extremely bad patellar tendonitis in my post op knee.  It's from rehabbing fast (but was doc approved) and from the type of activity I do.  The knee is just still so traumatized.  And as a result, I end up with searing, almost debilitating pain across the knee cap (top to bottom) after I sit for long periods.  It's the absolute worst in the morning. I have 3 flights of very steep stairs in my house and I was actually have to take them 1 step at a time - step one foot and then the next to the same stair, etc.

I figured out that it was probably the jump roping at Muay Thai b/c it would start hurting then, get worse, and by the next day it was mind blowing.

To be honest, I have been dealing with this for close to two months and I've been simply too embarrassed to tell my coaches that I can't jump rope at the beginning of class.  I didn't think they'd judge - they are amazing.  But I was judging and I thought the other students would judge (not that there is any basis to that - just fear and pride).

So, I decided to break down and tell coach last night.  He's one of our pro fighters and runs a tough class and he won't put up with people not giving 100% - he calls people out on it.  For example, he called out some women last week b/c they were going through the motions of kicking but not really kicking hard.  He wouldn't let them advance to the next combo.  He's a very very good coach.  And he was supportive when I had my surgery.

Anyhow, my friends were:  WHAT?! You picked tonight with Coach C?  Me:  dying of embarrassment but can't live with pain any more... hangs head in shame.

It took everything I had to walk up to coach at the beginning of class.

Me:  Coach, can't jump rope - post op knee has patellar tendonitis. I'll do anything else you say to warm up but can't do rope.

Coach:  (wise look on face - brain processing) yeah, it's all that short repetitive jumping yeah yeah okay get your abs really warmed up - while they jump you do situps, crunches, etc. in sets of 5.

End of story.

So warm up is 3 mins jumping = abs, 10 pushups, 10 crunches, 10 squat jumps (I do squats), 3 mins jumping = abs, 2 rounds of 10, 10, 10, 3 mins jumping = abs, then 3 rounds of 10, 10, 10.  AND then we did another 200 crunches in class.

my abs feel just fine today thank you very much.

and my knee - felt WONDERFUL this morning.  NO PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I love this coach so much.

Ew sweaty mouth breather.

All of your coaches are awesome.

Maybe you could use wrist weights when you run? I used to do Morris dancing and we have to lift our arms above our heads and flick hankies up and everyone's arms get tired and get lower and lower -- I wanted to use wrist weights during practice so our arms would feel super light during gigs but no one else thought this was a good idea. If you work up to running with wrist weights heavier than your sparring gloves, the gloves will feel super light. (If you use wrist weights the same weight as the gloves or a bit lighter it'll still be useful because your runs are probably longer than your matches.)

That sounds like an exhausting (physically and mentally) night of Muay Thai. But, you talking to coach, your abs are rock hard and your knee doesn't hurt!

Exhausting, but there's a lot of win in there, even if your arms were too exhausted to spar well!

Ouch.  Knee pain sucks!

I'm glad you talked with coach.  Even coaches understand injury.

You are still bad ass!

thanks.  He knew immediately what it was from.  No jump rope totally = no pain this week.  Huzzah huzzah.

Oh and PRd the shit out of my DL last night.  But since I ain't got no challenge and such there is nothing to put in the record books.

This old lady hit a big DL x 2 singles last night.

Yeah to both. Joined the 300# club. Btw 2 singles not just one.

Followed it by repping x3 that effing 90# strict press. F u press. Did that 2x tonight after 6 squats at 90% repping. Lol

There was benching, laterals, DB benching, dips. Then, just bc I can, 4 pullups leaving the room. BAM bc that's how winning is done.

And a guy in bench room w 135# on his chest. Totally on it. "Dude? Dude? Dude! You are the worst spotter ever" and he was the worst. Took everything I had to not go over and ask if they wanted help. He deloded (smart) and then watched me rep 5x4 at more weight than him. Lol
