I AM going the distance

'Cause all I wanna do is go the distance. Nobody's ever gone the distance with Creed, and if I can go that distance, you see, and that bell rings and I'm still standin', I'm gonna know for the first time in my life, see, that I weren't just another bum from the neighborhood.

Nerds I am sad. We just found out the hero rush obstacle race next weekend was cancelled. Company bankrupt. Booo and sad.

But my new shin guards came so I'll have to settle for kicking people.

Watching rocky v to alleviate sadness.

Oh no! I was hoping to do one of those because it is an obstacle course with no mud. Stupid mud.

Sounds like a pretty nice day to me.

It was exhausting and perfect all at the same time.  And a gorgeous day to eat brunch outside!

And...carbs?! ;)

weellllll.... kinda.

Breakie was light b/c workout so just an egg and a little cheese and some spinach and coffee.

But then I got in 70g of carbs with a protein shake between workout and Muay Thai lesson so I'd be fueled.

Then I ate some potatoes and *GASP* 1/2 an english muffin with my lunch b/c it was a type of eggs benedict thingy that my local makes.  It was awesome.  I had two beers too.

But then no carbs the rest of the day.  Heh.

Oh and I forgot to tell you - I FINALLY saw Pacific Rim yesterday.  Lots of punching.  nice.

Your Muay Thai reports always make me impatient for the days when I'm not gestating so I can start working a martial art...I'm thinking Krav Maga, since my CF box offers it.

It's fun.  It's a lot of work but it's good you know?  Mental, physical.... it's hard to strategize a fight in the moment.

Yesterday was a great day to workout!!!

We walked to/from the gym 4mi round trip b/c it was simply beautiful out.  Gorgeous.

At the gym I had a lifting day of light weights for high reps.

Light squats 155# 10 x 6 = yes, 60 squats.  I did most without the belt.

Light DL 170# 7 x 7 - these were easy = 49 DL

Super light BP 105# 5 x 6 - 30 BP

Then I had about 80 mins to walk 2 mi home, change and get to my MMA gym.  SQUEEE

I asked coach to work my hooks and defense.

We started with foot work and some shadow boxing drills I can do at the gym.

We worked on hooks a lot - I think I finally finally understand this punch.  Finally.  Wow.  OMG I think finally....

We worked defense a bit and then coach said....."do you have a mouthguard?"  Me:  duh.

Coach:  "want to spar a couple of rounds just boxing?"  Me:  HELL YEAH!  (doh!  Imma gonna get a beat down!)

So we went two rounds.  It helps soooo much to do this.  Coach said:  don't hit me too hard!  LOL  They'd had a really intense MMA sparring session the day before with all the coaches and he said he thinks they all walked away with mild concussions.  D'oh!

anyhow at the end of two rounds he said:  want to do a third?  Me:  Hell yeah!

And in the third round, I did so much better.  I'm getting relaxed, I can sense when I'm tensing (he taught me what to do) and I landed a combo of 7 unanswered punches!!!!!!!!!!  SQUEEEEEE  I was so happy.

Coach later posted on fb about his students that day and said I have "impressive strength we are translating into punches".  Yea yea yea

So much fun.

Then I ate a huge lunch - first real meal of the day.  Then I fell asleep on the coach for about 20 mins and woke up to go see Pacific Rim.  Finally.  I know why my MMA coaches liked it - lots of MMA fighting in it.

Tonight:  more MUAY THAI!!!!

Also, this week I need to run a 5K.  I'm doing a virtual 5K and it's sometime this week.  We even have bib numbers we are supposed to print and wear.  LOL.  I gotta figure that business out.  What day what day...

No!  No depression!!!  Inspire!  Lift more!!

The virtual 5K is Run for a Million to benefit the Green Beret Foundation.  It's not too late! (I think)  https://grt.ticketbud.com/runfor1million

I'm doing it b/c a lot of GoRuck people are doing it.  But I'm not a hard core runner so I chose the pansy distance.  BUT I do think I might run to the art museum and see if I can get someone to take my pic at the top of the stairs and not steal my phone.  That could be good.  Logistics logistics b/c I don't have anyone who'll run with me.  Boooo

but yea!  The ticketing agency just sent an email this a.m. saying they will refund registration after all.  Yea.

I know.  He totally sucks as a spotter.  Every damn time I say "don't touch my bar" and he does every damn time.  GAH!  At least he doesn't assist.  When I yell he takes his hands off.

Agreed.

What's intimidating?  Is it the SQUEEEE?  Or the punching?  I didn't kick anyone yesterday.... (mebbe tonight)

Especially in her new T-shirt.   ;)

SQUEEEEE!  Best t shirt EVER!  Got it at City Sports.  LOL.  Maybe I'll wear on my virtual 5K.  LOL.  So Philly.

All of it together in a single day. The weights, walking, footwork, practice, whew! I get tried reading it. But the most intimidating thing would be stepping in the ring with you or your coach.

Twas a momentary depression.  I plan on lifting more.  And, more.  And, more.

You MUST do the rocky photo!

I KNOW!  I need a pal.  They don't even have to run all the steps with me.  It haven't been up those steps since GoRuck.  Well, and that night we had to crab crawl up w our rucks.... LOL.

I gotta find somebody...

It was a fun day.  City walking is a piece o'cake but carb free!  I walk everywhere.  I get in a minimum of 2mi/day but usually 3.

You get used to sparring if you want to.  There are people at our gym who don't want to and then there are people who do.  It's fine either way.  I've only sparred with a coach once during testing and he kicked the crap out of me.  It was an interesting experience.

I kinda want to do it again.... I've always only sparred friends or classmates.

YES!

Yeah!  I forgot to tell you.  It was either that or Wolverine - so wolfie has to wait until this weekend.

It was visually a beautiful movie except for a few really cheap blue screen shots (really?!).  The story was totally dumb.  BUT I liked the visual a lot.  and I stayed through the credits as advised.  :pride:

A lot of the fights drew on boxing, BJJ, etc.  It was interesting.

But, as I told someone today, if giant monters spewing acid came out of the ocean - we're so dead.  There ain't now way we'd survive that mess.
