Kayak weight ?

Could not find the right category to post this in, so I will ask in general discussion.

 

I weigh close to 330 pounds, and I am looking to buy a kayak. My mother hit this deal for a kayak but its weight is 300 pounds capacity.  What will happen? Will I sink to the bottom of the ocean and never rise again ? hahaha not sure if its a good deal (if I fit in it) anyways i'm heading to the sub 300 weight in the next few months

Should be fine. It'll handle a bit sluggishly though. If you can test it first that'd be best.

It may handle sluggishly, as ceowolf said. Also, depending on how deep the well is, you may find yourself sitting very low in the water. This could cause a problem with waves and such. You may get wet

My 'yak is rated at 225 (at least according to the store...) and I am at (currently) 242. It sits a bit low, and I do have to drain it after, but it's fine overall. I purposely got it at a lower rating to keep myself aiming for my weight goal. If it's a good deal, I say get it and let it be a motivator for you.
