missrebecca's 3 week challenge - a little late to the party

Recommended Posts

So I might have missed the first three weeks, but I didn't want to wait until the next one to start posting here :).

My main quest hopefully by my birthday (12th Feb):

  • Goal weight: 137lb

And the three goals for these 3 weeks are:

  • Stop eating bread
  • Exercise 3 times a week (incorporating both weights and cardio)
  • Include vegetables/fruit in every meal

I reckon these should be fairly attainable, but they're still tough enough that I might struggle somewhat.

My motivation through all of this? That I've now booked my wedding for October 2015, and I want to get in shape, and stay in shape!

Some starting stats:

  • 149lb
  • 28inch waist
  • 43inch seat
  • 26% body fat
  • 5'5"
  • BMI: 24.8

Congrats on your setting your wedding date missrebecca!

Your goals sound good, I could do with cutting out bread! I could eat a whole loaf ;)

Good luck with your challenge :)

Thank you very much!

Cutting out bread is hard :(

Day one over and it was not good.

Breakfast went well! Porridge made with water again, plus a banana, but then I had a ham, cheese and tomato toastie for lunch. So I'm up on one of my goals - to eat fruit/veg at every meal, but down on the other...I may have just eaten another two slices of whole wheat toast after drinking two ciders at the pub. *sigh*

But I had my interview today...am I allowed to use stress as an excuse? No! No I'm not. No excuses for being...I'll say weak.

Tomorrow I'm at a country fair and I might have already planned to have fish and chips for tea. Oh dear.

However, today I did join the Walking To Mordor group, and while they may be nearly at Mordor, I'm still going to join in for the home stretch. I'm going to try to walk at least two miles a day, but we'll see how I get on with that.

All in all though, it's not a good start. I'm also pretty sure I'm not going to be working out three times this week...unless you can count knitting as a workout.

4 days in. I don't think it's going well.

One of my goal - eat fruit/veg with every meal is done, easy. I know I can keep that up...probably indefinitely, because it requires little to no thought whatsoever. I've also managed to cut out bread these last two days, so that's something. Unfortunately, when I'm at work, I just can't get up the effort to exercise as well. I'm just too tired.

Been wearing my pedometer though, and I'm averaging 6,000 steps a day this week. Hopefully as the weeks go on I can increase that :)

Hoping to get to the gym tomorrow, but if I don't I'm determined to get out on my rollerskates :)

I'm tracking my miles privately as well as on the main spreadsheet so I can make my own way to mount doom too. I want to see how long it takes me. It will be over a year but I'm guna do it :) On my own, I'm still on my way to Rivendell lol.

Cheer up MissRebecca ! I also started my challenge this week, and we can do this :P ! We'll both succeed our main goals in half the time of a challenge :D ! I think 3 weeks is enough to start new habits like your goals or my main goal, and I think support is the best path to success. ( Sorry if I'm not clear, english isn't my mothertongue :P )

Every day you do something you didn't do before the challenge is a little step closer to your goal! Cutting out bread is a HUGE deal. With more fruits/veggies (and whole foods) and less bread you will start to notice a little less "puff" in your belly.

Good luck with the gym. Finding an exercise routine/ class can be a daunting class. If you can't make it to the gym, try the beginner's body weight workout here. It takes less than 30 minutes and will help you tone up. If not, there are tons of videos on the youtube Be Fit channel and on fitnessblender.com.

You can do it!

This is an excellent idea and I'm stealing it! I made my own spreadsheet (holy crap it was hard) but I'm 2.4% of my way to Rivendell from Hobbiton :) Good luck with it!!

I've done the beginner's body weight challenge! I really liked it :) and I'll definitely be doing it again :). Once I'm back at uni I'm hoping to join a fitness class, I used to go to bodypump which I really enjoyed, but then they mixed it with spinning and I just can't do that haha.

First week of my 3 week challenge over and....I've lost 3lb! I no weigh in at 146lb, so only 11lb to go till I hit my goal :).

I exercised only twice this week, but 2/3 isn't too bad. At every meal I ate some sort of fruit and veg, and I've almost (but not quite - midnight toast is still a temptress) cut out bread :).

So all in all, things are going well.

I had a question though. To level up to 1, you have to do the first 3 weeks of a challenge, however, as I'm doing the last 3 weeks, do I still get to go up to level 1, then at the end of the next challenge I'll get to go up to level 2? But I still have to post in here for my next challenge right?

10 days in and I'm feeling good, but I know I need to be trying to do better. Mostly at exercising. I'm spending a lot of my time lately going out and about with Rob, I'm eating well but it means that I don't want to wake up early to go to the gym xD.

However, next week I'm going to be going to the gym like everyday, because not only do my parents go away (who I'm living with while I'm not at uni) but my brother goes back to college and Rob starts his full time job. So I'm going to have some very empty days and even though I'm going to be making new clothes for uni and knitting my new jumper, I'm still going to have an awful lot of time on my hands. I think I'll properly get my moneys worth of the gym next week xD. The last week of the challenge!

I moved to a new city for graduate school and didn't know anyone. Now after six weeks of filling my time with the gym, my body and athleticism has improved greatly! Seize the opportunities for sure!

2 weeks down! Only 1 week left. and I'm ill. properly ill. I can't breath, my head is killing me, I ache ALL over and just want to crawl into a hole and die. But I'm not going to!

I've done really good this week with my challenges, I've exercised 3 times this week, had fruit/veg with every meal and have managed to only have 2 slices of bread this week.

Today was supposed to be a gym day, but instead I'm going to workout from home, do some pilates and living room squats, then I'm making myself some soup, curling up on my sofa and sleeping the day away!

End of the 3 week challenge and what can I say?

I've lost 2lb (net), which while still a loss is not as good as I thought I would do, so I'm at 147lb. However, I have pretty much managed to cut out bread. As someone who was having toasties and sandwiches every day this last week I haven't had any! I'm also eating a portion of fruit or veg every day with every meal :).

I've exercised twice weekly these last three weeks, so not 3 times like I wanted, but I suppose it's better than nothing.

I'm looking forward to the next challenge, as I'll be just about going back to uni, so I reckon I might do alright :)
