Doh, that's what I get for posting when I should be in bed.  I meant forkboy.  The guy that posted on your wall asking for the repair guys number.  Oh well.

Ya, the morning sickness thing is really crap these days.  For awhile it wasn't as bad as it was for Sebastian, but lately it's been getting pretty rough.  Of course she swallows her anti-nausea pill instead of letting it dissolve under her tough like it says to do.  Can't blame her there though.  She said they are nasty.

And the workout is still in its infancy of course, but that just builds my patience and persistence.  Consistency and technique are king right now.

LOL,

well then, if you were talking about forkboy, that is indeed someone I like! And, I imagine he could handle both of those for us!

I was never given anti-nausea pills so it must be pretty bad. The only thing I will throw out there that sometimes helped was increasing my protein. If I could catch it when I first felt it coming on and find the most appealing source of something high in protein, well it was the only trick that occasionally worked.

"Consistency and technique are king right now."----- Most Definitely!

Hope you and your family have a most excellent Labor Day weekend! :peaceful:

Okay, so after my wife got some drugs and started feeling better, she decided to try eating something more significant.  She had a craving for Steak 'n Shake.  Hmmm.  So I had to decide whether to have just something simple since I only had 550 Calories left for the day or take today as my day off and enjoy my dinner in all it's glory.  I chose the latter.  I should have taken the middle ground.  Dinner ended up being a whopping 1780 Calories. That took me about 1230 Calories over my daily target.  Even though it is my off day, I should have been a bit more conservative in my selections.  Oh well, back at it tomorrow.

Ya.  Buffet's can be tough, but you can do it.  Plan ahead as much as you can as to what and how much you are going to eat and then try to get just that and nothing more.

Such a relief to see her feeling better.  She's been so miserable, though partly because I think she waits to take something until she is really feeling nauseous instead of as a preventative.  It's also nice to know that we should not need to go to the ER again.  We've had enough medical expenses this year with more to come next year with the baby.

Also, I didn't bike today.   :apologetic:   I did add the Vertical Pull to my list of CC exercises I'm practicing each day.  Tomorrow I'll add Knee Raise to complete the 4 that I will be focusing on.  The book recommends not trying to start the handstand or bridge series until getting through step 6 of the other movements, essentially because I won't be ready before then.  That is fine with me since I don't feel I'm ready to do them with proper form anyway.  I will follow the book until I feel that the book's plan until I feel it is not working or isn't meeting my needs and then I'll either modify or switch course.

Ya.  I'm sure you understand very well.  Sebastian also had to have surgery this year and will have to have follow up surgery in December.  I guess we can be thankful that the first surgery maxed out our out of pocket max for him for the year so the second surgery shouldn't cost us anything except office co-pays and prescriptions.

[edit]  I know I really shouldn't complain though because I know many who have had much higher medical expenses and difficulties.  Doesn't make it easier, but I still shouldn't complain.

It's nothing serious.  I won't go into the details here, but both surgeries are pretty low risk and outpatient.  He did extremely well with the first surgery.  Also, the doctor doing the surgeries is supposed to be one of the top 3 of his specialty in the country so he is in very capable hands.  Doesn't help when they take him to surgery for 2-3 hours while we wait and the stinker doesn't even look back at us when they take him.   :rolleyes-new:

So, it's measurement day here in Indiana.  And the verdict is:

Weight: 208 lbs (-5 lbs total)

Waist at narrowest point:  39 inches (0 inches total)

Waist at widest point: 43 inches (-1 inch total)

Thigh: 25 inches (+.5 inches total)

Hips: 42 inches (0 inches total)

I hit all of my goals for yesterday.  I picked up a lot on my bike time too.  I rode the route without Sebastian because of a threat of rain and finished in 14.5 minutes.  That is 1.5 minutes less than my original time without him.  I will have to add some distance next time I ride without him.

My measuring technique leaves a lot to be desired I'm sure so I won't worry too much about those that didn't change or went up and be happy that my overall measurements were a good improvement.  Especially around my stomach.

Thanks Ash!  It feels great.  I feel like I'm starting to understand the nuances of the different exercises now too.  My stomach still gets in the way, but over the next 8 weeks or so I will have the weight off and will start to feel a lot better during my exercises.

So I hit all of my goals yesterday.  Found myself before bed with plenty of extra calories so I enjoyed a glass of milk and a half serving of Dark Chocolate Almonds.  Mmmm.

Convict Conditioning practice is going well.  I'm hoping I can feel confident in my form by Friday and be able to start work sets by Monday, but I'm not going to rush it.  I will start on a Monday and will not start until I'm confident in my form for all four basic exercises.

Next Challenge

I'll have to start thinking of what kind of goals I want to set for the next challenge.  It's only two weeks away.  My current goals are going well so I will probably try to set somewhat more challenging goals, but don't want to overshoot.  My focus will still be on weight loss until I get all 23 pounds off and get my incentive.  Convict Conditioning will be in my goals, but nothing specific about progress.  Probably just the commitment to a certain program and no progressing until each standard is met with "perfect" form.  I may work in a swimming goal.  Maybe a 1 or 2 day per week swimming regimen.  I was swimming as much as a mile per session at one point and would like to get back to that.  I saw a program for progressing up to one mile non-stop.  I might look into this.  I think it asked for 3 days per week, but I will probably modify it to not overdo the commitment.

Brader,

I've been a lazy bum the last month with finishing up school and getting my brother off to college and then realizing how little I have to do without school. I haven't even been to the gym in two weeks. I'm just not motivated, maybe even burned out after all of it. I had hoped and expected to be in a batter place than this for the start of the nect (and my first) challenge. I haven't been nearly as motivated as you lately!

Don't give me too much credit.  I just got back into it myself and still have that "new thing" motivation.  My family keeps me busy, but I understand loss of motivation when you don't feel you have much to do.  I am much more motivated to do things when I keep busy.  If I take too much leisure time, I develop the same feeling of not being motivated.  I'd say, until you have more things to do, make that your thing to do to find things you are interested in and keep yourself busy with something that moves you forward.  Create a structure/routine to your day.

Like that you're thinking through your goals for the next challenge! And, in full agreement on the form. Wouldn't do any good to jump the gun and risk injury. Smart thinking!

Well, hope your are having a most excellent day, and send good luck my way- it's restaurant day!! ^_^

So for the next challenge, I'm thinking of doing the zero to 1650 yard (1 swimmer's mile) swim challenge (0 to 1650 Swim Challenge).  The idea is that it builds up to swimming one mile non-stop by the end of 6 weeks.  Perfect for a 6-week challenge.  The YMCA is right across the street from where I work so getting there would not be difficult over lunch.  It requires swimming 3 days per week though which can be pretty time consuming.  I thought of making a more gradual transition into this many weekly workouts.  This would be great for my cardiovascular endurance though.  For the record, not following this program I had my self swimming this length on most swim days a few months ago, but not continuous.  Will this be too much for me to bite off in one challenge without neglecting some other area(s) of my life?  I just don't know.  A lot to think about. over the next two weeks.
