Nazy_Ak
Main Quest Build a solid foundation; Eat well & De-stress. Although I'm happy about increasing my general activity, the previous challenge has shown me that I need to focus on nutrition and mental health. Losing weight is not going to happen until my Hypothyroidism is under control, I become less stressy and get proper sleep. Also, if I'm not eating enough it's just not gunna happen! So for now, fat loss is on the back burner. Thyroid levels are out of my control (blood tests/experimenting with dose etc) but I can work on everything else. I will still aim to continue with one Yoga session a week along with walking to Mordor. Goals#1 :- Eat an appropriate amount of food. (CON +2)Carry on using myfitnesspal to log my intake but using my own custom settings as the recommendations on it for me was just far too low. So now I'm trying to eat 1700 - 1800 calories daily and aiming to net an average of 1700 weekly.GRADING: 1700 x 6wks - 100% (A), 4wks - 75% (B ), 3wks - 50% (C ) #2 :- Drink more Water (CON +2)Atleast 1.5 ltrs a day/8 cups.GRADING: 42/42 - 100% (A), 32/42 - 75% (B ), 21/42 - 50% (C ) #3 :- Bedtime routine (CON +2)Write thoughts/emotions/worries down to empty mind. 10pm - 4/7 days. 11pm - 3/7 days. (Edited for Challenge Week Two onwards - 23/09/13 - to give me time to spend with Hubi)The more tired and stressed I am before bed the more likely it is that I will grind my teeth in my sleep. I also sleep talk when overly tired/stressed and have even hit my husband without knowing sometimes! The plan is to make a proper bedroom routine to invite proper sleep.GRADING: 42/42 - 100% (A), 32/42 - 75% (B ), 21/42 - 50% (C ) Life Goal :- Connect with my spiritual selfZen Mode (WIS +1)Listen to Quran recitation everyday, even if its just for 15min at a time. This is like meditation to me. It relaxes me, soothes me and just makes me feel at peace and connected to God.GRADING: 42/42 - 100% (A), 32/42 - 75% (B ), 21/42 - 50% (C ) Side Quest :- Walk to Mordor90 miles by the end of the challenge (STA +3, DEX +1)Thats approximately 3miles a day, 5/7 days. I started this before my first 6week challenge and I'm currently still on my way to Rivendell at 120 miles. I aim to be approximately halfway, atleast 210 miles by the end of the challenge.GRADING: 90miles - 100% (A), 68miles - 75% (B ), 45miles - 50% (C ) MotivationTo be healthy, strong, and confident in order to eventually do the things that make me happy; getting back to nature, hiking, riding my bike, nature trails etc. Upon successful completion of Challenge #2 (CHA +2) Happy to be a part of the Druid's! faraxk
Augh, I really hope they can figure out your thyroid dosage, cause that will be so helpful in getting you on track. When I found out I had hypothyroidism and got on medication my life became a total 180 from what it had been and it's been great. Your goals are great too and having done a bedtime goal last challenge, I think that's definitely a good way to go. I love your spiritual goals too. Maybe it was too effective? Anyway, I bought the old ones again just in case that's it. I'm just hoping the reduced dose will send me closer to zero. The only thing I am thinking about is if you really want to have two life goals.... Thank you Sleep is sooo important, I've always had issues with it. I've improved alot since my childhood days but still not where I need to be. About the life goals, I totally appreciate the concern as its something I thought about too! I almost deleted one before posting and then thought, well really they're not too difficult and I feel as though both are critical to reducing stress. At the same time, if you think I'm taking on too much then I'm happy to go ahead and delete one Edited 12.43pm 16/03/2013 - I've thought about it some more and I'm going to delete one of the life goals. I'll still do it but there wont be added pressure for the challenge and grading. Thanks Evenewbie 'The only Limits you have, are the ones You set for yourself'1 2 Link to comment
lullaby88
I like the change in focus with your goals for this challenge. And the best thing about weight loss is that diet plays a huge role. Good luck on your Walk to Mordor goal. I'm thinking about trying it, if I decide to do this 6-week challenge. Even if I don't, I'm still following your challenge. ^.^ Good luck and I look forward to your updates. Last challenge was more of a trial and error. Go for it, take your time with Mordor, and just say you decide not to do the challenge you can still go to Mordor I'm tracking my miles privately anyway. I would like to keep in touch regardless of whether you do the challenge or not too, but if you do decide to do it, tell me where you posted it so I can follow it I'd like to know how you're getting on. Nazy_Ak
Hope the first day of challenge is off to a super great start! Rawr! Thanks Kiwi Its been okay. Not great, not bad. Lol Week One, Day 1 I was really excited to start the challenge, and still have the motivation, but finding the 1700 cals harder than I thought it would be. I practised all last week but didnt walk too many miles to Mordor plus my food wasn't the best. Today I reached 1450 cals, but I did miss one meal. I'm hoping to average it out to 1700 by the end of the week. Water hasnt been too difficult, but I have to remind myself to drink it. I think this will come naturally over time. Did some random strength training cos I felt like it lol. Walked 3miles to Mordor. Nothing else to report for now. 'The only Limits you have, are the ones You set for yourself'1 2 Link to comment
Strawberry Squatcake
One of my favorite ways to get more calories is with fats. I love avocados, adding ghee/clarified butter to veggies, not being conservative with olive oil when making dressing. I'm sure that's no surprise to you as a "trick." But I keep reading fat supports the brain and metabolism, so I'm in! Good luck with your challenge! It looks great! Good luck figuring out the meds. Pretty sure someone has mentioned those to me before. Lol. I just need to remember to buy them now! It's easy reaching the 1700 when I don't eat good food. Why is that?I'm not really sure about the ghee. I may clarify my own at home and add to veggies. When I get brave! Nazy_Ak
Week One, Day 2 I'm feeling pretty good today Is it cos of the bedtime thing last night? The new challenge? Quran recitation? Who knows. Still struggling with eating enough, but need to do a grocery shop. I have fish, chicken, beef and Lamb in the freezer, but no vegetables to go with it, no fruit for snacking, or nuts etc. Lol, I find this hilarious cos not so long ago, I only had veg in the cupboards and virtually no meat/poultry etc. In my efforts to buy more of the protein stuff, I guess I didnt buy enough veg. haha. The sad thing is, we need to find a balance as we have a budget for food, and I have nothing left for this month, but if I dont get enough food I'll fail this week, therefore, it has to be the overdraft!! I'm telling myself a tenner is okay, and will fix it asap in 2weeks time. This sounds sad, but really I'm not lol. I feel good. On a side note, I was worried about one of my module choices for my course at uni, turns out that, that particular module has stopped running anyway! Is it fate? They are fairly cheap, easy to cook with, and definitely last longer than the fresh ones. But I also buy fresh veggies and cook them into a big meal for the week.
